V R VP Series Technical Information V&A Procontrol VP series pneumatic steel scotch yoke actuators have been specifically engineered and designed to suit the most demanding applications, the classic scotch yoke mechanism has proved to be the most reliable means of high torque transmission, transforming the linear movement of the piston into a 90 rotation which suits all high torque quarter turn valve operational requirments. During the design stage of the V&A Procontrol scotch yoke actuator range, our engineers have taken into consideration 35 years of field experience. The result is the new V&A Procontrol scotch yoke series. Key Design Features Modular construction allowing for complete interchangeability. Weatherproof fabricated carbon steel housing ensures light weight and high strength. ISO 5211 Flange connection. Stainless Steel position indicator complete with VDI/VDE 3845 NAMUR drive slot for monitoring devices. Standard heavy duty modulating service canted and symmetric steel scotch yoke mechanism to suit most valve torque requirements. High strength heavy duty alloy steel chromium plated transversal thrust reaction bar. Standard pneumatic cylinder, polished with electro less nickel plated internal coating ensures maximum protection against corrosion, and longer sealing life suitable for supply pressure of up to 12 bar design. High pressure gas pneumatic cylinder, in standard carbon steel for inert gas application, or special application carbon steel for sour gas supply medium, polished with electroless nickel plated internal coating protection against corrosion, suitable for supply pressure of up to 160 bar design. Carbon steel piston supported by high strength alloy steel chromium plated piston rod ensure corrosion resistant durability. Fully encapsulated factory welded epoxy coated spring cartridge ensure personnel safety and simplified assembly. Alloy steel galvanized end stoppers to allow for corrosion resistant fine valve position adjustment + 5 Emergency manual overrides available are std jack screw and declutchable hand wheels or hydraulic hand pump. Special cylinder and sealing materials available for special applications. Standard operating temperature range: 29 C / + 90 C. High temperature options available. Actuator torque output up to 400,000Nm. Low temperature arctic environment application available 46 C. Construction V&A Procontrol actuator housings have been engineered considering latest industry standards as our starting point for improvment, the result is a more rugged, robust and strengthened product suitable for the most demanding applications such as modulating and offshore heavy duty services. Our acutators generate high torque outputs at a more cost effective price to our clients. V&A Procontrol acuators are made completely from fabricated carbon steel. Modular Design V&A Procontrol scotch yoke actuators all share a common construction philosophy known as modularity, which is achieved by utilizing a consistent engineering design throughout our complete range. Our current range of scotch yoke actuators consists of various center body sizes. The center bodies have been designed to accommodate the widest variety of pneumatic and hydraulic power cylinders together with the widest variety of spring cartridges. The power cylinders can be assembled to either or both sides of the center body. The spring cartridges can be assembled onto either side of the center body thus allowing for fail open or fail close emergency operation. The manual overrides can be assembled onto eitherside of the centre body. Our modular contruction and stocking availability enables us to meet short deliveries. The canted scotch yoke mechanism covers most all and butterfly valve torque requirments. 0 90 Actuator torque Symmetric Scotch Yoke Valve torque Ritning 006812 Symmetric Yoke The symmetric scotch yoke is ideal when the valve torque requirements are highest during the intermediate positons of the valves rotation (running). The symmetric scotch yoke is the most suitable yoke design for modulating service. The symetric scotch yoke mechanism is normally used for plug metal seated ball valves and control valves. 0 90
