Started as Ball Valves UK in 1984, with a clear strategy of maintaining stock at levels that would allow rapid delivery of products normally associated with long lead times, the success of the company resulted in acquisition by the Econosto Group in This acquisition brought many complementary own-brand products into the existing portfolio of quality, globallyrecognised brands. By 2008 the Econosto Group had in turn been acquired by ERIKS group nv as part of their strategy to strengthen their valve division, particularly in the UK. ERIKS is a global manufacturer and supplier to industry, fulfilling the twin roles of specialist and broad MRO supplier. Since 2009 ERIKS has been owned by SHV Holdings, a private company with diverse interests in industrial products around the globe. ERIKS range of products covers many industrial markets and contains products complementary to the Econosto core stock, which enables opportunities to supply customers with complete solutions as well as individual or specialist requirements. Econosto UK has evolved with this transition and can now supply not just own-brand ECON valves or products from selected other manufacturers but a whole range of exclusive products manufactured within the ERIKS group of companies. Products such as the top-quality AMG Actuator range, a German product manufactured to exacting specifications, the highly regarded Smith range of forged steel valves and many other complementary products. 3 Ball Valves Ball valves take a lead role in the valve industry and have wide-ranging applications. The high flow capacity coupled with being very simple to mechanise makes ball valves ideal for many applications where an open/close facility is required but not regulating of flow. Standard fittings can be modified to a customer s specification and they are easy-to-use and virtually maintenance free. Econosto UK supplies ball valves for all uses ranging from brass valves for use with water to flanged stainless steel for use with corrosive media. 6 Butterfly Valves These valves can be used for many applications either as open/close or simple regulating valves. A useful characteristic of butterfly valves is the availability of different lining materials which allows for uses ranging from non-aggressive media such as water or air through to chemicals and corrosive media. 7 Knife Gate Valves Knife gate valves have widely been used in pulp or paper industry applications and for handling slurries but are also used in the offshore sector and are suitable for a wide range of wet or dry media. They can be supplied with uni or bi-directional cut-off and are ideal where quarter turn valves are unsuitable. 12 Smith Newdell The Newdell Company became part of the ERIKS group in 2010 resulting in the opportunity for Econosto UK to offer their highly regarded Smith Valve brand to the UK market. Smith is one of the oldest valve brands for API 602 forged steel valves in the industry today. The products consist of a wide range of gate, globe and check valves used in the oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical and many other industries throughout the world. Smith also offers many specialty products for services such as HF acid, sour gas, cryogenic, chlorine and oxygen. Smith valves are renowned for offering a useful colour coding system, whereby the colour of the handwheel (gate and globe valves) indicates the body/bonnet material of the valve and the nameplate colour (gate, globe and check) indicates the trim material. For more than 50 years, the name Smith has been synonymous with quality with today s valves produced under a fully certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

13 AMG-Pesch AMG Pesch manufactures a range of rack and pinion actuators, positioners, monitoring units and valves to strict quality standards. The patented rod-guide piston design of the actuators ensures drives are maintenance-free, compact and offer high levels of reliability and long service life. Since early 2011, when AMG-Pesch became part of the ERIKS group, Econosto UK have been able to offer these actuators to the UK market. Pressure Equipment Directive The Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC designates the requirements for the design and manufacture of pressure equipment and assemblies with a maximum allowable pressure greater than 0.5 bar gauge (1.5 bar absolute). Econosto UK ensures all stock and modified product meets with the requirements of this directive and has worked with Lloyds Register Verification to gain approval to carry out modification work on CE marked valves. This compliance means customers can be confident that products supplied and/or modified by Econosto UK Ltd meet legal and safety requirements and are ultimately fit for purpose.
