Page 1 of 10 Installation of MathCAD (MC14 Datecode M020) This document contains various tips about the installation and registration of MathCAD V14. Normally the installation is absolutely unproblematic. But it is still recommended to read this little instruction. Remember your license code can be used only once, and if something goes astray, then you may need to buy a new code! This guide is especially useful if you are about to install MathCad a second time. How to get hold of the program? There are 3 options: 1. The program can be found as a zip-file mc14020.zip (appr. 215 MB) on this address : http://www.ihk.dk/om-ihk/it-afdelingen/in-english - Applications_ The program can be found on the students group-drive. An instruction in the use of this drive can be found here: http://www.ihk-edu.dk/ 2. Your teacher may lend you a CD. 3. You can find a demo download here: http://www.adeptscience.dk/. The demo is fully functional with your license code. The zip-file must be unpacked. Make a suitable folder for example mc14020. After the unpacking the content of mc14020 looks like this:
Page 2 of 10 Before installation You must be connected to the internet in order to complete installation and registration. Check that! After the installation of the program you will be asked to create an account with PTC. You have to do that in order to complete the registration even if you install a trial version. You must supply an email-address and a password during the creation of the account. If this installation is your second time around, then you must not use the same email-address as the first time. I know this sounds silly, but registration always fails if you try to reuse an account, and you might then loose your license code. If you are about to buy a new machine, then install a trial version. The file Administration_Guide.pdf contains a short instruction to an installation. This short instruction can be found here her. A detailed going through of an installation Open your folder mc14020 and run the program setup.exe.

Page 4 of 10 You have two options here: 1. Supply your license code and press Next 2. You omit the license code and press Next. This will install a demo version that is valid for 30 days. When the trial period is expired then you will be asked to supply an installation code. In the next window (not shown) you can decide where the program should be installed.
Page 5 of 10 After some time the installation of the program is finished, and you see this window: You must choose finish even if you install a trial version!

Page 7 of 10 In the next window you will see the code you entered earlier. If you did not enter a code then you must select Trial License. (The code displayed is already used )
Page 8 of 10 The next window looks like this: Normally you shall always select Create Account. You must supply an emailaddress and a password. You can select Next, if you have an account and you are using a trial version that you want to register with your license code. Recall: You have to create a new account each time you use a new license code. A new code is needed if you acquire a new machine, or you want to MathCad installed on more then one machine, say a notebook and a desktop. Create Account will move you to a website, where you must supply a variety of information.

Page 10 of 10 After the installation. The installation and registration has placed a file, license.dat, on your machine. It can be found as shown below: (You will probably see another icon on your machine) Take a backup of this file on a secure medium. If you are going to make a reinstallation of your system then you can probably (I haven t tried it!) select this file, after having reinstalled MathCad 14. Look at the screenshot below. You can select Specify a license file location on disk
