2 IT Department Instructions for Using the Computer Lab and Study Rooms Dear Students, In order to use our computing resources more efficiently, we ask you to comply with the following instructions. 1. Please never save your data files on the Windows desktop. SAVE YOUR FILES ONLY UNDER K:\username. WE DON T TAKE ANY BACKUP FILES OF THE DESKTOP. The only drive that we backup every day is K:\. There's no backup for anything you save on the desktop and user files on the desktop will be deleted periodically. Be very careful otherwise you may lose your files! 2. You have 200 MB on the Data Server (K:\username) for saving your files and everything else relevant to your studies. You are requested not to exceed this limit. Note that any saved files that are completely irrelevant to your studies or workload will be deleted automatically and your account will be disabled. 3. Your mail quota is 100MB so you should try to clean your Inbox regularly. When you delete an item, don't forget to delete it from the Deleted items folder as well. 4. When you finish your work, always restart the PC before you leave. Don t shut down, don t leave your account logged on. 5. If you encounter any technical problem, please contact the IT department. Don't try to fix it by yourself. Do not forget that any hardware or software change is ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN. 6. It is absolutely forbidden to install any software on any PC. Failure to adhere to this instruction will oblige the IT Department to disable your account. Mobile Here is the info you have to know in order to access your via mobile devices. Type -> Exchange Server IP -> > <username>@alba.edu.gr user -> <username> password -> <password> The credentials for Windows Phone OS in order to sync our accounts are: Domain : alba.edu.gr Server : mercury.alba.edu.gr Please note that this service requires access to internet via your mobile phones. In other words, there's a charge for accessing it. No extra charge for accessing your mailbox but a cost for accessing internet. Be careful on how to use it in order to avoid any "surprises" to your next billing statement.

3 Web By using your browser, access the address and click the mailbox link (the red circle on the picture). Please type your username as followed alba\username, your password and finally click Sign in. You are done!

4 Miscellaneous Info Although not available, please note that the following services are under implementation and you ll be informed upon availability. Mac client access thru Blackberry mobile devices POP3 protocol Melete By using your browser, access the address and click the melete link (the red circle on the picture).

8 There are nine (9) laser printers distributed as follows: PRINTING FACILITIES Printing Units Two (2) printers located at library (LexmarkMS810Mono and RICO430HColor) One (1) printer located at laboratory 107 (IBM1822Mono) Two (2) printers located at study rooms 202 & 203 (LexmarkT654Mono and RICO430HColor) Four (4) printers located at study rooms 305 & 308 and at laboratory 307 (LexmarkT654Mono x 2 and HP3525Color x 2) Each student is initially assigned with a free quota of 20,000 print credits for his/her printing needs during his/her academic studies. This quota can be used in any way taking into consideration the following charge table. A warning pop up message is displayed on the screen when you reach at the end of this balance. If you want to purchase additional print credits, you have to contact IT department in order to buy extra ones at the price of 10 for each 1,000 print credits.

9 The printing information includes your account balance and the amount of pages you have printed.

10 Please do not forget to restart when you finish using the workstation.
