1 How to Install and Run the Executive Dashboard There are five main components to the installation of the Visual EstiTrack Visual Dashboard. 1. VFPOLEDBSetup.msi - This will install the FoxPro OLEDB files. This is required for each workstation that will be using the Executive Dashboard. 2. Setup.exe - This will install the Executive Dashboard. This is required for each workstation that will be using the Executive Dashboard. 3. stats.exe - This is a program that summarizes the data to ensure the integrity of the data that is displayed in the Executive Dashboard as well as increase the speed of the program. The actual file only has to be copied to the VET\DATA folder once but we recommend that it is run at least daily. 4. VetRibbonDashBoard.exe.config - This configuration file has to be manually updated, at this time, in order to point the Executive Dashboard to the data on the network. This is required for each workstation that will be using the Executive Dashboard. 5. Registering the License code and granting User Account Access. Step 1: Copy the DashBoard.zip from the flash drive onto the computer that you are installing the program to. It can be copied to any location that you like as long as you can easily find the zip file. Extract all files. Step 2: After you have extracted the files, double click on the VFPOLEDBSetup.msi file. Follow the prompts to install the software. 1. Run 2. Next 3. "I Agree" and Next 4. "Sample data files and programs" and Next 5. "Everyone" and Next 6. Next 7. Close Henning Industrial Software, Inc. 2 Step 3: Double click on the setup.exe file. Follow the prompts to install the software. 1. Run 2. Next 3. "Everyone" and Next 4. Next 5. Close Step 4: For 32-bit version of the Operating System, the files are installed to c:\program files. For 64-bit version of the Operating System, the files are installed to c:\program files (x86). Go to My Computer - C:\Program Files (or Program Files (x86) depending on your Operating System). Since Windows doesn't know how to open this file, you will need to select from a list of programs to open it. Right click on VetRibbonDashBoard.exe.config and choose notepad.exe to open the file. 3 Right click and choose open with. Choose Notepad. Scroll down to the <databases> section. The green highlighted areas are what you will be replacing. #1 represents the DATA folder. #2 represents the VET folder. For example, the network drive is W:\Henning\Vet\Data. If that were the case, #1 would be W:\Henning\Vet\Data. #2 would be W:\Henning\Vet. Another example would be if the network drive is Z:\DATA. #1 would be Z:\DATA and #2 would be Z:\. 4 Once the changes are made to the VetRibbonDashBoard.exe.config, save the file. You may get an error that you cannot save the file because it is read-only, thus saying that you do not have the proper permissions or you need to take ownership in order to save changes to the file. If this happens, you will have to take ownership of the file by right clicking and going to properties and change the security settings. If you are still unable to change the security settings, please see your IT professional. Step 5: (Only required one time) Now it is time to enter the License code into the License field in the Company Table settings. Open VET. Go to Tables - Company and right click in the field. 5 Enter the word DEMO and click Save. (For this example, DEMO was used) Close VET and restart VET. If you are running the DEMO version, you will have an alert telling you when the trial period will be over. Henning Industrial Software, Inc. Page 5 of 9

6 Step 6: Every User will have the ability to have access to the Executive Dashboard. Open VET and go to Tables - Users - Click Executive Dashboard User Rights. Add one, Add all, Remove one or Remove all. Just highlight and move what you want the User to have access to. Click Save. Step 7: Henning Industrial Software, Inc. Page 6 of 9

7 Double click on the icon that was placed on the desktop. Every time the User logs in, there will be a window that will pop up and tell you how many days are remaining in the trial period. (This is if you have the DEMO version) NOTE: Remember to run stats.exe at least once a day. This will summarize the data for consistency as well as speed this process up for loading the data into the display screens in the Executive Dashboard. 8 Right click stats.exe in the Executive Dashboard folder and click copy. Navigate to the VET\DATA folder and paste stats.exe into the folder. When the stats.exe file is placed successfully into the VET\DATA folder, double click on it and click RUN. Henning Industrial Software, Inc. Page 8 of 9

9 Enter the date range of the data that you wish to summarize and click "Calculate Statistics". You will see the data being recalculated and then when it is finished, it will return to the main Summarize Screen. Henning Industrial Software, Inc. Page 9 of 9
