Internet Explorer Settings for Optum CareTracker CareTracker (aka Optum PM and Physician EMR) is a web-based application, which currently only runs on the 32 -bit version of Internet Explorer (to tell, click on Help, About Internet Explorer; if it s 64-bit it will say so here). In order to use CareTracker, each user must update their internet browser settings and plugins. according to the sections below. Failure to do so may result in various functions within CareTracker not working properly or screens not displaying correctly. Please contact your IT support person for help if necessary. *Note: do not start CareTracker in Internet Explorer from a desktop shortcut, only from a bookmark or the address bar. For several of these items, you will need the Tools menu either on the Internet Explorer menu bar at the upper left (press the Alt key on your keyboard if it s not there), or on the command bar at the upper right. Clearing the Cache The cache is a space in your computer's hard drive and Random Access Memory (RAM) where your browser saves copies of recently-visited web pages. Typically these items are stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder. It is important to clear your cache on a regular basis (at least weekly), at every new CareTracker release, if you switch between the current and previous versions, and if you are experiencing unusual behavior in CareTracker. Important Clear your cache before logging in to CareTracker. If you are logged in, log out before clearing your cache. To clear the cache in Internet Explorer: 1. Open an Internet Explorer browser window. *If you do not see the IE menu bar at the top of your window (with 2. Press the Alt key to get the IE menu bar, then Tools, and select Internet Options, which will display the Internet Options dialog box (below). *Note: checking the Delete browsing history on exit only deletes your history, it DOES NOT clear your cache!
3. On the General tab, in the Browsing history section, click Delete. Windows displays the Delete Browsing History dialog box (below). 4. Deselect the Preserve Favorites website data checkbox. *This is very important! 5. Select at least the Temporary Internet Files, Cookies and History checkboxes. 6. Click Delete. 7. Click OK. To clear cache in Safari for ipad: 1. Tap Settings from your ipad home screen. 2. Tap Safari from the Settings panes on the left. The Safari Pane displays the Clear History, Clear Cache, and Clear Cookies at the bottom. 3. Tap Clear History. ipad displays a confirmation window. 4. Tap Clear in the confirmation window. 5. Tap Clear Cookies. ipad displays a confirmation window. 6. Tap Clear in the confirmation window. 7. Tap Clear Cache. ipad displays a confirmation window. 8. Tap Clear in the confirmation window.
Disabling the Pop-Up Blocker A pop-up window is a small web browser window that appears on top of the website you are viewing. This avoids having to navigate away from the current window you are viewing. CareTracker uses the pop-up mechanism to enable an efficient workflow. Many computers have firewall protectors that alleviate annoying pop-up ads from displaying as you work on a website. However, you must enable pop -ups in order to use the functionality within CareTracker. To turn off pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer: 1. Open Internet Explorer browser window. 2. Select Tools >Pop-up Blocker >Turn Off Pop-up Blocker from the browser menu. (if you see a choice to Turn On Pop-up Blocker, then your Pop-up Blocker is already turned off) 3. Note: if this will adversely affect other websites you use, make sure you turn it off for your Trusted Sites (see the Configure Internet Security Settings section below); if you do so, it s not necessary to turn it off here. To disable pop-up blocker in Safari for ipad: 1. Tap Settings from your ipad home screen. 2. Tap Safari from the Settings panes on the left. The Safari Pane displays the browser options. 3. Tap Block Pop-ups to turn off pop-up blocker. Add CareTracker addresses as Trusted Sites To add CareTracker as a trusted site: It is highly recommended to add the CareTracker and support websites to the trusted site list. This prevents the browser from blocking some functionality such as running active x control, Java scripts and installing browser plug -ins. It also secures your computer by been able to distinguish between tru sted, secured sites and other harmful sites. 1. Open Internet Explorer browser window. 2. On the menu bar, click Tools and then select Internet Options from the menu. Internet Explorer displays the Internet Options dialog box. 3. Click the Security tab and then select Trusted Sites. 4. Click Sites. Internet Explorer displays the Trusted Sites dialog box. 5. In the Add this website to the zone box, type: https://www.caretracker.com and then click Add. Internet Explorer adds the address to trusted sites.
6. In the Add this website to the zone box, type: https://www.support.caretracker.com and then click Add. 7. In the Add this website to the zone box, type: https://rapidrelease.caretracker.com and then click Add. 8. In the Add this website to the zone box, type: optum.webex.com (for CareTracker webinars) and then click Add. 9. Deselect the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone checkbox. 10. Click Close to close the Trusted Sites box. 11. Click OK on the Internet Option box to save changes. Turning on Compatibility View Mode This may be necessary if you have a newer version of Internet Explorer, or i f you re experiencing some unusual behaviors in CareTracker that aren t solved by clearing the cache, refreshing your window (F5), logging out & back in, or rebooting. When in compatibility view mode, Internet Explorer fixes some display issues (misplaced or missing menus, images, buttons, etc.) for websites that were designed for previous versions of Internet Explorer. To turn on temporarily (only in IE10 or earlier) : When in CareTracker, click on the little ripped page icon to the right of the address bar at top, which should then turn to a darker blue to indicate that this site is in compatibility mode. *Note: this will not be set if you open a new IE window. To turn on for this website (until you clear your cache): Go to: Tools>Compatibility View Settings. If you were in CareTracker, just click on the Add button. If you were in a different website, type in caretracker.com and click Add. You might need to reenter this after you next clear your cache, depending on which IE version you re using.
Changing the Page Setup for Printing It is important to change the default margin, header and footer settings in order to print letters, forms and claims properly in CareTracker. 1. Open Internet Explorer browser window. 2. Either click on File Page Setup from the menu bar, or select the Print icon dropdown from the command bar - and select Page setup ; the Page Setup dialog box displays. 3. Delete the values in the Margins fields, which will automatically set their value to the minimum values. 4. Select Empty in each of the Header and Footer fields. 5. Click OK. Downloading Plug-ins A plug-in is a program that works with CareTracker to provided added functionality. Go to the specified links below to download the required plug-in for free. You may need to deselect boxes that would cause other programs or toolbars to be downloaded. Your computer should also be set to automatically install updates for these programs (or at least to prompt you to update them). *Windows updates should also be set to automatically download and install! Adobe Reader (http://get.adobe.com/reader) To view, navigate and print PDF files. Java (www.java.com) To run applications and applets that use Java technology. Java is required to view pre -recorded video sessions. Flash (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer) To view animation and interactive content (only needed for Windows 7 or earlier) *Install any other viewers required for file types you will uploading into CareTracker and viewin g. Configure Internet Security Settings To make the following settings changes, first do: 1. Open an Internet Explorer browser window. 2. Select Tools>Internet Options from the browser menu. The browser displays the Internet Options dialog box. 3. Click the Security tab. 4. Click the Trusted Sites (check mark) link. (*Note: CareTracker should be a trusted site see above) 5. Click the Custom Level button. To disable download blocking: Scroll down to the Downloads section. In the Automatic prompting for file downlo ads entry, click Enable.
To allow mixed content and windows without address bars : Scroll down to the Miscellaneous section. In the Allow websites to open windows without address or status bars entry, click Enable. In the Display mixed content entry, click Enable. To allow copy & paste w/o prompting (esp. for Dragon users): Scroll down to the Scripting section (near the bottom). In the Allow programmatic clipboard access section, click Enable. To disable popup blocking within trusted sites (if you don t want to do this for all websites as explained above): Scroll down to the Use Pop-up Blocker and click on Disable. *When all settings have been made - click OK, and then OK again on the Internet Options window. Setting Up Tabbed Browsing Tabbed browsing allows you to open multiple websites/pages in a single browser window. It is very important to set this up in order to access several patient charts at one time in a single browser. This will make switching between patients much easier, and enables you to have fewer items open on the task bar. To set up tabbed browsing: 1. Open Internet Explorer browser window. 2. Select Tools>Internet Options from the browser menu. The Internet Options dialog box displays. 3. In the Tab section, click Settings. The Tabbed Browser Settings dialog box displays. 4. Select the options in the Tabbed Browsing Settings popup at right. Note: this popup may not match yours, but should be similar. 5. Click OK to close the Tabbed Browsing box. 6. Click OK on the Internet Option box to save your changes.
Disable 3 rd Party Toolbars It is strongly suggested that you uninstall all add-on Internet Explorer toolbars (e.g., Google, Yahoo, and more malicious ones that get installed without your knowledge ), for both security and performance reasons and to allow for more vertical space for the CareTracker screens. It is often possible to disable them by clicking on an x to the left of the toolbar, but you should permanently remove them by going to the Control P anel, choosing Uninstall a Program in the Programs category, finding the toolbar in the list, selecting it, and clicking on Uninstall on the menu bar. Install Attachment Tools to enable scanning and uploading multiple files and folders If you want to scan documents directly into CareTracker, or upload multiple files or a folder of files at one time, you will need to install the CareTracker Attachment Tools. There are two ways to install the Attachment Tools: 1. The first time you try to scan directly into CareTracker via the Scan button in the Document Management Upload window if the tool is not already installed, it will prompt you to do so; just follow the directions. Or, you could first install it via step 2 below before you start scanning. *Note: in order to scan directly into CareTracker, your scanner must have a TWAIN driver. 2. If you will not be scanning directly but would like to upload multiple files or entire folders, go to : Administration > Setup > CareTracker Client (under System at lower right). You will get the popup below. Click on Run and follow the prompts to install the tool. Setting CareTracker as Your Home Page Your home page is displayed when Internet Explorer first opens. You may choose to set CareTracker as your home page, as follows: To add CareTracker as the home page: 1. Open an Internet Explorer browser window. 2. Select Tools>Internet Options from the browser menu. The Internet Options dialog box displays. 3. In the Address box of the Home page section, type: https://www.caretracker.com
4. Click OK. CareTracker will display as your home page the next time you open Internet Explorer. *Note: another way to set it is to go to the CareTracker login page, click on the triangle next to the little house on your IE toolbar, choose Add or Change Home Page, and then select one of the two choices to use it as your only home page (preferable), or to add it to your home page tabs. Using Dragon Naturally Speaking software Operators using Dragon Naturally Speaking must properly configure the software to work with CareTracker: 1. Launch the Dragon Naturally Speaking software. 2. From the Dragon menu bar, click Tools > Options. The application displays the Options window. 3. Click the Commands tab. 4. For Dragon versions 8 & 9: a. Deselect the Enable commands in HTML windows checkbox. b. Select the Require "Click" to select menus and controls checkbox. 5. For Dragon version 10: a. Deselect the Enable HTML support checkbox. b. Select the Require "Click" to select menus and controls checkbox. 6. Click Apply. 7. Click OK. 8. Close Dragon and then restart the application.
