This information pack is designed to give you further details regarding the programs available so you can make an informed decision before enrolling. General information about the course This course is designed for anyone who is interested in developing a career in a regulated education and care service such as a Child Care Centre. The course (both full-time and part-time) covers 28 nationally recognised units of competency (23 core and 5 elective). The course is conducted over 6 months and will develop: your skills and knowledge to provide care for children, babies and toddlers in a child care setting knowledge of children s development (including application of development theories) skills to plan and implement learning experiences relationships with families leadership and management skills for children s services workplaces a pathway to a degree in Early Childhood Teaching or similar at University

Flexible Delivery Program Available in both full-time (day) and part-time (evening - for those already working in a regulated education and care service such as a Child Care Centre or in Family Day Care). The full-time course is designed for anyone who is interested in working towards developing their career. This program is conducted 5 days per week for 21 weeks. The delivery of the training consists of: a) 2 days per week (Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30am-2:30pm) at our rooms at Cartwright (10 hours per week) for 16 weeks b) 3 days per week ongoing work experience in child care facility (at least 21 hours per week for 16 weeks) c) Completion of assignments, research and home study (approximately 5 hours per week) d) A one-week block prac after Module 5 e) A four-week block practicum in a childcare facility at end of course (Monday to Friday) f) Textbooks and workbooks will be provided to each participant 815 hours is required to complete this full-time course (less where Recognition has been granted). The part-time course is conducted over 2 nights per week (Monday and Tuesday, 6pm-9pm). You must be working in a regulated Education and Care Service workplace (Child Care Centre or Family Day Care) and hold your Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30113 or Certificate III in Children s Services CHC30402/30708/30712. A final four-week block practicum in your workplace is required at the end of the course. Up-to-date details of the above courses (including dates) can be found on the College s website at www.macarthurcc.com.au During the course, participants will be required to undertake a number of assessments. These may include role-plays, case studies, written questions, verbal questions, group discussions and activities, written projects and practical application in a childcare facility. Satisfactory results must be attained in all of these assessments to be deemed competent and attain the qualification Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50113. If you do not achieve the full qualification, the College will issue a Statement of Attainment or transcript for the successfully completed units of competency only. Course Resources All course resources will be provided during the course according to the mode of delivery. Participants will only have to provide pen and paper (and lunch for the full time course). How to Enrol There are limited places in each course. Note: To be eligible for the evening course, all prospective participants are required to provide proof of holding pre-requisite units from the Certificate III in Children s Services CHC30708/12 (or equivalent) and current employment in a child care service. Payment of the Module fee ensures your place. It is recommended that you enrol at least 2-3 weeks before its start date to secure your place. Start dates are published on our website and in the College brochure.

Course Costs Full-time Program - Day This course is an approved course through Centrelink (Approved Course No: 2P694), for full-time participants. You may be entitled to some assistance from Centrelink (see your local Centrelink for further details). Fee assistance can also be sought from agencies such as Mission Australia. Paysmart Payment Plans are available. If you are already have the Certificate III in Children s Services CHC30402/CHC30708/CHC30712 or CHC30113 (and recent work experience) and wish to enrol in the Diploma you must provide the College with a copy of your Certificate III. The following costs apply: Recognition will be granted for current experience and qualifications in Certificate III in Children's Services CHC30402/CHC30708/CHC30712. An individual learning plan will be developed for you to complete the course taking into account additional units now included in the new qualification from Certificate III. They will be undertaken as extra days on Mondays and Tuesdays (Module 2 of Cert III ECEC) as part of your learning plan. If you hold CHC30113 the course fee will be $2100. If you hold CHC30712/CHC30708 the course fee will be $2650 (includes First Aid HLTAID004 and Module 2 of Certificate III ECEC) If you hold CHC30402 the course fee will be $2750 or $2850 depending on the amount of experience you have with babies and child protection (includes First Aid HLTAID004 and Module 2 of Certificate III ECEC). Part-time Program - Evening You must already hold the Certificate III in Children s Services CHC30402/CHC30708/CHC30712 or CHC30113 and be working or volunteering in a childcare centre or Family Day Care for at least 21 hours per week. Recognition will be granted for current experience and qualifications in Certificate III in Children's Services CHC30708/CHC30712 or equivalent. An individual learning plan will be developed for you to complete the course. You must provide the College with a copy of your Certificate III and the following costs apply: If you hold CHC30113 the course fee will be $2100. If you hold CHC30712/CHC30708 the course fee will be $2550 (including First Aid HLTAID004) If you hold CHC30402 the course fee will be $2650 or $2750 depending on the amount of experience you have with babies (including First Aid HLTAID004). Course fee can be paid in 3 instalments or access a Pay Smart payment plan if wanting smaller, regular payments. Payment dates will be: Initial payment by 20/7/15 Mid payment by 20/9/15 Final payment by 20/11/15 Mondays and Tuesdays from July 27-December 1, 6pm-9pm (no sessions on Public holidays), ongoing prac in your workplace plus 4 week block prac at the end of the course. Support Additional support is available for identified individual learners. Support may be additional mentoring, language, literacy or numeracy support, or pathway planning.
