SeaView Semi-automated Email Product Delivery Method Using SkyFile Mail If you are a SeaView customer and use the SkyFile Mail program for Email communication, you can use SeaView s Email Connection product delivery method. You must have the SkyFile API Automatic Transmission/Reception Service setup up and active and you must have SkyFile Mail running during this process. Please see the document SkyFile-SeaView API Service Setup.pdf for instructions on how to set up SkyFile Mail to work with SeaView. First, verify or perform the following: The SkyFile Mail program is running Your satellite telephone is powered-on, connected to your computer and configured to work with SkyFile Mail. 1. In the Download Image files from Ocean Imaging window, click on the Email Connection tab. *This method also works with Outlook and other email programs, but is designed for use with SkyFile Mai, SkyFileConnect and Telaurus s SkyFile Mail software. Use with other email programs requires the manual attachment of SeaView email files. Please contact Ocean Imaging support for assistance with other email programs. 2. If you have not already entered your user name and selected your image region, do so now. 1
3. Next you will need to request the list of the latest available image and data files. Since Ocean Imaging updates our products several times per day in most cases, the list of files available for download changes throughout the day. Therefore you need to first request the data list. To do this click on the button entitled Request New List via Email. 4. You will then see this message. It references Telaurus. This message pertains to SkyFile users too. Click on the Yes button. 5. If SkyFile Mail is running and the Automatic Tranmission/Reception APIs are set up and active, SkyFile Mail will send an email to the Ocean Imaging s SeaView email server as soon as you click on the SkyFile Dial now button ( ). You should see a small window asking Do you want to start the mail exchange. Click on the Yes button. 6. After you click on the Yes button above, you should see activity in the small SkyFile Mail Tranfser screen of your SkyFile Mail program window. Your satellite telephone should dial out and you should see an email sent to sv3order@oceani.com. An email has now been sent with the SeaView File List Request to the Ocean Imaging email server. Once the SeaView server receives your request message, it will return an email with the latest list of available images for your requested image region. Depending on your SkyFile Mail set up and your satellite service provider this could take several minutes. 7. Wait 5-10 minutes and click on the Dial now button ( ) again to start a connection so that SkyFile will retrieve the incoming email from the SeaView server. If you see a small window asking Do you want to start the mail exchange, click on the Yes button. You should see your phone dial out and SkyFile Mail receiving an email message. If no message arrives, wait 5-10 more minutes and try again. If an email from sv3order@oceani.com does not arrive within 20 minutes, contact Ocean Imaging for assistance. Once your response email arrives from the SeaView email server and SkyFile Mail has processed the incoming email message, you will then see this message: 2
8. Once you click OK, your image/data list will appear. You can then click to place check marks next to the image and/or data files you wish to have emailed to you. And then click on the Request Selected Images via Email button. SeaView will then show you the message below. Click on the Yes button. 9. Click on the SkyFile Mail Dial now button ( ). If you see a small window asking Do you want to start the mail exchange, click on the Yes button. SkyFile will start your satellite phone dial-up connection and send the data request email to the SeaView server. Once Ocean Imaging s SeaView email server receives the email it will return the images/data files requested. This usually takes about 2-5 minutes and should not take more than 20 minutes. 3
10. On your end, wait 5-10 minutes and click on the Dial now button ( ) to start a connection so that SkyFile will retrieve the incoming email from the SeaView server. You should see your phone dial out and SkyFile Mail receiving an email message. If no message arrives, wait 5-10 more minutes and try again. If an email from sv3order@oceani.com does not arrive within 20 minutes, contact Ocean Imaging for assistance. When SkyFile Mail receives the email message it will detach the data file(s) and place them in the correct SeaView folder on your computer. SeaView will then automatically uncompress the file(s) and place them in c:\program files\seaviewv3\data ready for you to display. You will then see the message below. You can choose to open the image for display by pressing the Yes button or click on the No button to view the data later. If SeaView was shut down before you receive your requested image you can click on Utilities Import E-Mailed Images. This will detach, uncompress the attached files and make them ready to open with the File Open image button. Skipping the list request If you already have the latest list of available image and data files, or have one that is relatively recent, you may click on the View Last Received List button to display the list. You can then skip steps 7, 8, 9 & 10 above and request your image(s) from that list. 4
