Six ceturies of history ad a uique iteratioal dimesio The Uiversity of Leuve, the oldest Catholic uiversity i the world still i existece ad the oldest uiversity of the Low Coutries, was fouded i 1425 by Pope Marti V. For almost six ceturies the uiversity has ejoyed great fame as a cetre of itellectual life. Situated i the heart of Wester Europe, Leuve Uiversity has a history of attractig great mids, such as Erasmus, Vesalius ad Mercator, who explored ad expaded the boudaries of huma kowledge. The Study Abroad Programme i Europea Culture ad Society (PECS) is desiged to offer iteratioal studets from aroud the world the uique experiece of pursuig a variety of academic disciplies. The programme curriculum, ope to studets that have completed at least 3 semesters of uiversity study, is taught i Eglish ad covers a wide rage of fields from the Arts, the Social Scieces, Political Sciece, Busiess, Psychology, Religio, Philosophy Participats remai registered at their home istitutio ad receive a credit trascript from the PECS programme. As a programme participat you will be takig classes with studets from Leuve, Europe ad the rest of the world. Europea culture ad society is more tha just a course subject. I Leuve it becomes part of your daily life, a experiece that you just caot miss. 1 The perfect home base to explore Europe Most visitors are ufamiliar with the fact that Belgium, small as it is, has three official laguages, Dutch, Frech ad Germa. I the orther part of the coutry (Fladers) about 6 millio people speak Dutch. Frech is the laguage of 4 millio people livig i the South (Walloia).
