WFES 2014 Overview Where the World of Future Energy Comes Together Since its inception in 2008, the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) has fast emerged as the leading renewable energy conference and exhibition in the Middle East. The Summit provides an essential business platform to facilitate practical progress in renewable energy and clean technology. Under the ongoing patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, WFES is widely recognized for its unique ability to attract public and private leaders to address the critical issues and identify the actions that must take place globally at corporate, political and economic levels. The Summit hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi's multi-faceted renewable energy company and staged at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, represents a business platform bringing together project owners and solution providers with investors and buyers from both the public and private sectors. Heads of State and Heads of Government have used WFES as a global platform to launch initiatives, announce investment, make policy statements and deliver targeted media messages designed to raise awareness and increase business. The year 2014, saw the addition of Global Leaders Summit (GLS) to the WFES Conference portfolio. Featuring 28 leading experts and various government officials, it was attended by more than 500 delegates including leaders from business, technology, government and academia to advance collaboration and action on the most immediate and urgent priorities, as well as long-term imperatives.

The half day, high level summit addressed current shifts in the global energy mix towards wider deployment of renewables and their importance in shaping the economic and social systems of the future. Our sessions focused on policy and proven practices review from an economic point of view to ensure security and supply of the ever increasing global energy demands. With a firm focus on the state of play of the more established renewable energy technologies, and the changing energy landscapes of cities and their infrastructure, the technical conference renamed the The WFES Global Innovation Forum provided a review of the global energy context and forecast of the opportunities and challenges in the year ahead. The WFES technical conference saw 113 speakers addressing topics ranging from policy, technology & innovation, finance and investments and knowledge sharing from various parts of the globe with over 1,200 delegates representing the various sectors of the renewable energy industry. WFES 2014 FEATURES Sustainable Living Expo (SLE): The Sustainable Living Expo (SLE) was a new initiative that promoted sustainability and resource conservation in urban areas. The SLE included a real-sized home and a model hotel suite showcasing water and energy efficient products. Project and Finance Village (PFV): The Project & Finance Village offered the ideal platform for project developers and entrepreneurs to network with the world s cutting edge solution providers and thought leaders. Exhibitors at WFES were able to interact with senior representatives at the Project & Finance Village given the chance to attend project presentations and discuss future business opportunities through prescheduled meetings. TechTalk: TechTalk was a brand new seminar concept for WFES 2014. Located on the exhibition floor, TechTalk allowed companies, or speakers and participants, to present and discuss the latest industry technologies, R&D, policy developments, investment opportunities and new projects in a purpose-built environment, ideal for networking with decision makers from across MENA and beyond. Green Careers: WFES Green Career Fair provided its participants with cost-effective, convenient and easy ways to create social and professional networking opportunities that gave them an edge over competition in their job search.
