Professionals are those who are teachers of art or who make a practice of selling their work. 2. Only Kansas artists at least 18 years of age are eligible. 3. Any work produced in the last (2) two years will be accepted. It must be original in composition and rendering. Observe copyright laws. The individual submitting the work must be the artist. 4. Articles done in a workshop or class are not eligible. 5. The department reserves the right to reject such entries which it feels do not meet required standards. 6. Our primary audience consists of family and youth. We reserve the right to reject any work of art that may be considered objectionable by that audience. 7. Limit of (2) two entries per exhibitor. 8. If entries are mailed or shipped, they must be received prior to September 1st. 9. Shipped Items Need to arrive before September 1 - Shipping charges on all exhibits must be prepaid. When mailing contains multiple entries, please attach (by pin) exhibitor's name for proper identification. 10. Receipt of your entry implies agreement to the conditions outlined in the Kansas State Fair rules and exhibitors guide & online premium books. Division 100 - ANY MEDIUM: PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND HAND PULLED PRINTS 1. $25 fee per entry will be charged for participation in the competition and paid online with registration or a check/money order payable to the Kansas State Fair and mailed with your entry form by August 15. 2. The judge is qualified to judge only two-dimensional works of traditional media. No fiber arts, threedimensional work, digital art, or reproduction prints will be accepted. Diptychs and triptychs will not be eligible unless framed within one frame that meets size requirements. 3. With the exception of works which are specifically intended to be shown un-stretched or unframed, the entry must be substantially framed. Works in fragile media, such as watercolor or pastel, should be framed under glass or Plexiglas. Screw eyes and wire must be on the entry. Work must not measure more than 50" in any one direction, including frame. Painting must be completely dry; no wet or semiwet paintings will be accepted.

Photography should be 4" x 6" or larger, not to exceed 16" x 20", including mat, no frames. Please have mats no larger than 2". Total thickness of entry not to exceed 1/4 inch, wrapped on wood frames will not be accepted. No mixed media allowed. Protective plastic covers will be removed for display. 3. A Photo-journalism print is a print that tells a story that could be used in a newspaper or magazine article. A World in Motion Pictorial print is any print that shows action or movement. 4. If photographer's name appears on the photograph, please cover the name for judging purposes. Kansas Wheat Photography Contest (no entry fees required & must be entered through the Fine Arts Dept.) The Kansas Wheat Photo Contest is for photographs featuring all phases of the wheat industry. These color photographs will be used to promote Kansas as America's No. 1 wheat state. All Kansans - amateur and professional photographers - are invited to capture the story of Kansas wheat. All entries become property of the Kansas Wheat Commission, but the commission does not purchase exclusive rights. 1. Contestants are limited to two entries but can only win one placing. 2. Any subject featuring wheat may be entered: seeding, storage, wheat fields, harvest, custom crews, grain trade, milling, wheat products, baking and more. Photos of wheat during winter and spring time would be helpful. 3. Please print as glossy or matte prints. 8 x 10 prints when matted are 11 x 14. A panoramic print 5 x 15 matted can be no larger than 10 x 20. No frames allowed. 4. Digital photographs are required. Please save the digital image to a jump drive or CD which is to be included with your entry. Please label the entry with your name, hometown and e-mail address, if available. 5. Photographs must be taken by the person making the entry, but the contestant need not have processed the film or photographic print. No "signed" prints may be entered. The photographs may have been taken at any time, entered in other contests and/or previously published. 6. Published photographs will be credited. Limit: Two entries per exhibitor. $10 entry fee (per entry) will be charged for participation in the competition and paid online with registration or check/money order payable to the Kansas State Fair and mailed with your entry form by August 25. Entries: Entries will be taken at the OZ Gallery, Professional Art Dept. on Monday, Sept. 5, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 9:00 am - 8:00 pm, & Wednesday, Sept. 7, 9:00 am - noon. Walk-ins are welcome Friday Sept. 9, noon - 3:00 pm and Saturday, Sept.10, 7:00 am - 10:00 am. No gate ticket available to walkins. Observe copyright laws. The individual submitting the work must be the artist. Gate Tickets: One entry ticket will be available in your name at the Guest Services Booth (located across from Gate 1 on Poplar Street). Prior to the Fair this ticket can be picked up at the OZ Gallery, Professional Art Dept. on Monday, Sept. 5, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Tuesday, Sept. 6, 9:00 am - 8:00 pm, or Wednesday, Sept. 7, 9:00 am - noon. Where: Check-in, Friday, Sept. 9, noon - 3:00 pm (at the Oz Gallery Professional Arts Dept.) and Saturday, Sept.10, 7:00 am - 10:00 am. The artist's canvas, paper, board, etc. must be stamped by the Professional Art staff prior to beginning work. A liability waiver will be signed upon entry. What: Bring your own art supplies; be ready to work on location, within the Fairgrounds. Size limited to 36" x 36". Artwork must be affixed to a firm board (Foam core or Art Board) for display on easel. No matting or framing of art is allowed. Photograph will be taken of artist at work on location. Judging: Artwork to be completed and taken to the Professional Art Exhibit Area of the OZ Gallery for judging. Entries must be received by 9:00 pm, Friday Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept.10, by 3:00 pm. Awards presentation is at 6:00 pm on Saturday. Exhibitor can only win and be paid for one placing. Entry Release Terms: Artwork will be on display for the remainder of the Fair. Entries will be released starting at 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm, Sunday, Sept. 18, and Monday, Sept. 19, from 9:00 am till noon. Receipt of your entry implies agreement to the conditions outlined in the Kansas State Fair rules and exhibitors guide & online premium books. The Grand Prize entry will become the property of The Kansas State Fair. It will be auctioned at the fundraiser, Boots and Bling, for the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation.
