Rose Tandeski Memorial Scholarships Mr. George Tandeski established this scholarship fund to honor his mother, Rose Tandeski, in 1992. Mr. Tandeski firmly believed in the value of the education and training programs offered through the College. Enroll on the Winona campuses in courses from one of the four program areas shown below. Enroll as full-time students, 12 credits or more, for both spring and fall semesters. Have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Rose Tandeski General Education Scholarships High School: 3 Award amount: $2597 Non-Traditional: 3 Award amount: $1558 The Rose Tandeski General Education scholarships are primarily intended to offer opportunities to students who may intend to transfer to a four-year institution or who are not enrolled in one of the three career fields shown below. Clarence and Mildred Skaar Endowed Scholarships Number of Scholarships to be determined Mr. Clarence Skaar established an endowed scholarship fund for students attending the Red Wing Campus of the College. Mr. Skaar maintained his interest in, and support for, technical colleges throughout his life. Several Skaar Scholarships for both traditional and non-traditional students are available each year. Enroll for courses on the Red Wing Campus. Enroll for a minimum of 6 semester credits for both spring and fall semesters. Have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Service Above Self Scholarship - Red Wing Rotary Club Scholarships Available: 2 Award Amount: $375 The Rotary Club of Red Wing is a service organization dedicated to providing a wide range of services and programs throughout the region and beyond. Applications will be reviewed by Rotary members. Two scholarships are available to high school and other student applicants. Applicants must enroll as a full-time student, 12 credits or more, on the Red Wing Campus. Service Above Self Scholarship - Winona Rotary Club Non-Traditional: 2 Award Amount: $500 The Rotary Club of Winona is a service organization that has been dedicated to providing a wide range of services and programs throughout the region and beyond for over 80 years. Applicants must enroll as a full-time student, 12 credits or more, on one of the Winona Campuses. Syl and Marge Kohner Scholarship The Syl and Marge Kohner Scholarship was established as an endowed (annual) award in March of 2000, by Bob and Steve Kohner in honor of their parents. This scholarship recognizes the vital importance of a wide variety of skilled trades and professions to the economic vitality of the region. Scholarship(s) are available to high school and other student applicants. Applicants must enroll for 12 credits or more. Applicants must be residents in one of the following counties: in Minnesota - Winona, Wabasha, Fillmore, or Houston in Wisconsin - Buffalo, Trempealeau or Pepin Applicants must enroll in one of the following programs: Basic Machinist, Cabinet Making, Carpentry, Construction Design Specialist, Industrial Maintenance, Welding, Machine Tool and Die, Remodeling and Restoration Specialist, Truck Driving, Accounting or Nursing Foundation Scholarship Catalog Page 2 of 5
Chuck Munson Memorial Scholarship Chuck Munson was one of the first staff members employed to start the Red Wing Area Vocational-Technical College. As Director of Student Services, Chuck was responsible for student recruitment, counseling services, student activities, student housing and financial aid. He also helped develop and promote programs to better serve communities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This endowed scholarship is testimony to Chuck s dedication and commitment to technical education and life-long learning. Preference will be given to applicants enrolling in programs at the Red Wing campus. Shane Elsen Memorial Scholarship Family and friends established the Shane Elsen Memorial Scholarship in his memory. Shane was a graduate of Southeast Tech s Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program at the Red Wing campus. Shane spent approximately 10 years working as an HVAC service technician until becoming ill with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Applicants must be enrolled - or declare their intent to enroll - in the HVAC program. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Robert Marek Aviation Scholarship Robert Marek was an instructor in the Aviation Program at MSC-ST for 23 years. His wife, Cynthia Marek, started this endowed scholarship in his memory after he passed away from kidney cancer in March 2001. The scholarship is testimony to Bob s love of aviation and his dedication to technical education and life-long learning. Applicants must be full-time students, 12 credits or more, in a trade or technology program. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Treasures Galore of Winona Scholarship Non-Traditional: 2 Award Amount: $400 Treasures Galore is a non-profit consignment store. Its volunteer members have generously provided funding for scholarships. Have completed 12 credits at MSC-ST at the time the application is submitted. Enroll as full-time students, 12 credits or more, on one of the Winona Campuses. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Be at least 24 years of age (prior to start of academic year). Frances M. and Lyle L. Olson Memorial Nursing Scholarship Scholarships Available: To Be Determined Award Amount: To Be Determined Thomas Olson, Frances and Lyle Olson s son, established this scholarship in 1999. Frances Olson worked in health care and was employed at the Interstate Medical Center for 22 years. This scholarship acknowledges her commitment to the healthcare profession and to the value of Southeast Tech in educating and training for the future. be a returning nursing student. have a minimum 3.5 GPA. John Fuhlbruegge Memorial Scholarship The John Fuhlbruegge Memorial Scholarship was established with a gift from the estate of his wife, Rebecca Streeter Fuhlbruegge. John Fuhlbruegge originated and directed the vocational education program of the Winona School District, founding what is now Southeast Tech. Scholarships are available to high school and other student applicants. Preference is given to applicants enrolling at the Winona campus. Merchants Bank Scholarships Available: 5 Award Amount: $500 The Merchants Bank Scholarship was established by Merchants Bank of Winona in 2005 to provide educational support to students pursuing a technical education. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Scholarships available to high school and other student applicants. Preference is given to applicants enrolling at the Winona campus. Red Wing Shoe Company Master Tradesman Scholarship Award Amount: To Be Determined The Red Wing Shoe Company is pleased to provide a one-time scholarship to recognize America s leading tradesmen who have demonstrated a life-long commitment to quality, and to celebrate Red Wing Shoe Company s 100 years of outfitting this country s skilled work force. Excel in their coursework, earning a 3.0 or above Demonstrate leadership skills Need financial assistance Be a non-traditional student on the Red Wing campus. Webster and Marcella Fischer Family Foundation Scholarship In June 2005, the Foundation approved a grant to the Southeast Technical College Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship to honor the memory of Webster and Marcella Fischer. Scholarships available to high school and other student applicants. Applicants must be residents in one of the following communities: Lewiston, Spring Valley, Ostrander, Wykoff, or Hokah William L. Hemsey Memorial Scholarship The William L. Hemsey Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of the Director of Minnesota State College Southeast Technical from 1970-1989. He was instrumental in building the student center, one of the first of its kind in the state. He also developed the first AAS degree offered by the college in composite technology. Among the various programs he initiated was the aviation maintenance program at the Winona airport campus. Maintain a 2.5 GPA. Be enrolled in a trade or technology program Demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a Winona non-traditional student. Bob Olson Memorial Scholarship The Bob Olson Memorial Scholarship was established in 2007 in honor of the much beloved Bob Olson. Mr. Olson inspired many sales and marketing students throughout his 17 years of educating his students. Be enrolled and pursuing a career in Retail and Sales Management. Have completed one year of education in the Retail and Sales Management program. Maintain a 2.5 GPA Demonstrate financial need.
