2 Tampa Chapter The Links, Incorporated Scholarship Application Tampa Chapter of The Links, Incorporated is a volunteer service organization comprised of concerned, committed and accomplished women whose friendship and service are the impetus for numerous quality of life initiatives implemented in the larger community of Tampa, Florida. The intent the of chapter s scholarship program is to support the pursuit of higher education among students of African American descent. Three undergraduate scholarship awards of $1,000 each are offered: Academic Achiever; Community Service Achiever; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Achiever. The awards will be sent directly to the college/university of the successful applicants upon verification of enrollment. One graduate scholarship, the Arthenia Joyner Law Scholarship Award, in the amount of $2,000, will be awarded to a law student enrolled at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Law School. The application deadline for each scholarship award is March 28, 2014 postmarked or ed. The date is firm, with no exceptions. Only completed applications submitted by the deadline shall be considered. Personal interviews may be scheduled for further discussion of qualifications. Eligibility Applicant must be a graduating senior in good standing at a high school in the Hillsborough County, Florida Schools. Successful applicants must attend college or university full-time during the academic year.

3 Academic Achiever Scholarship Applicant must: Submit a completed application by designated deadline Have earned a cumulative 3.5/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) verified by a sealed Hillsborough County School District transcript of academic performance Have applied and/or been accepted at a community college or four-year college or university at the time of application Submit two (2) letters of recommendation, including one from member of applicant s school faculty or staff, and one from member of community at large Complete a word essay on the topic as indicated on the application. Community Service Achiever Scholarship Applicant must: Submit a completed application by designated deadline Have earned a cumulative 2.75/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA), verified by a sealed Hillsborough County School District transcript of academic performance Have applied and/or been accepted at a community college or a four-year college or university at the time of application Submit a documented minimum of seventy (70) hours of service to a non-profit organization(s) in Hillsborough County Submit two (2) letters of recommendation, including one from member of applicant s school faculty or staff, and one from a member of community at large Complete a word essay on the topic indicated on the application. 4 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Achiever Recurring Scholarship Applicant must: Submit a completed application by designated deadline Have earned a cumulative 3.5/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) in math and/or science, and 2.75/4.0 overall, verified by a sealed Hillsborough County School District transcript of academic performance Express intent to pursue college STEM major on completed application Submit two (2) letters of recommendation from STEM faculty who have taught the applicant Complete a word essay on the topic as indicated in the application. Submit official college grade report, verifying full-time status and 3.0/4.0 in science and/or math, and 2.75/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) overall, to be considered for a scholarship award of $1,000, annually, up to four (4) years
