1 AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF DRILLING ENGINEERS DALLAS/FT. WORTH CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES 1. Colleges and universities which have petroleum and natural gas engineering curricula will be solicited for scholarship candidates. An effort will be made to identify the institutions that are receiving scholarship funds from other AADE sections. This information may affect which institutions are contacted for scholarship applicants. 2. The Petroleum/ Natural Gas Engineering Departments will be sent a letter from the scholarship committee that lists the requirements for candidate consideration. The candidate must meet the following criterion: a. Be enrolled in a petroleum or natural gas curriculum b. GPA or GPR must be 2.5/4.0 or above c. At the conclusion of the current academic year be ranked as a Sophomore or above d. Return a completed DFW AADE Scholarship Application with original signature e. Be a United States Citizen f. West Virginia students must be an active member of the West Virginia University Student AADE Section 3. The Scholarship Application from the candidate shall include the following information: a. State his/ her interest in the petroleum industry. Include any courses that show their interest in drilling engineering. b. State his/ her prior work history in resume form or in the form of a list with a description of duties and responsibilities. This may include research projects and summer work. c. State his/ her financial need (optional). d. State his/her relationship with anyone in the DFW AADE. 4. In addition to soliciting colleges and universities, the Scholarship Committee may contact petroleum industry affiliated companies in the DFW area for individuals that meet our requirements. They may be employed in summer or cooperative work programs. 5. The Committee shall ask our membership for schools that they would like to have contacted for scholarship consideration. Candidates from these schools will meet the guidelines as set forth in Item No The funds shall be awarded to individuals rather than projects or grants. 7. It is the intent of the DFW AADE to award scholarships as an ongoing program, however, all scholarships are made on a one-time basis.

2 8. The individuals will be requested to send the Scholarship Application through their school s formal channels. It will be the responsibility of the Committee to insure the candidates qualifications by communicating with the college or university. Fax and e- mail applications are not acceptable. 9. The Scholarship Committee shall recommend scholarship awards to the D/FW AADE Board of Directors for approval.

5 Any undergraduate scholarship awarded by DFW AADE is contingent upon the recipient being officially registered in school and enrolled as a full-time student in a curriculum leading to a degree in petroleum engineering or natural gas engineering.
