Gann 2770 County Road 93 Berry, Alabama (205) PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Interim Director of Personnel Services Bevill State Community College, 2006-present I was asked in 2006 to step into the Personnel Services office as interim director due to the ill health of my predecessor in addition to my responsibilities in Institutional Advancement. Duties include managing the day-to-day human resources operations of the office; ensuring the maintenance and security of college employee files; managing the numerous annual documentation required, including contracts, job descriptions, evaluations, professional development forms, and other documentation; coordinating the hiring process for all full-time and part-time positions; assisting new hires with the processes required of college employees; coordinating the process of annual evaluations for all full-time employees; maintaining the college personnel handbook; completing numerous personnel reports required by state, regional, and federal agencies; and conducting new employee orientation. Director of Institutional Advancement Bevill State Community College, 2004-present During my time in this position, the mission of the office has evolved under different leadership and supervisors. Duties include identifying sources of funding from private and public federal, state, and local sources, and notifying appropriate personnel regarding the potential availability of grant funds, criteria for eligibility, and application procedures; developing proposals for funding sources in the form of grants, contracts, and other pertinent documents; coordinating the development, organization, and implementation of alumni affairs activities; supervising the Bevill State website; assisting in the development and production of college publications as requested and assigned; and serving as the primary administrator in the development and editing of administrative publications. Website Coordinator and Continuing Education Coordinator Bevill State Community College, Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the College website, Duties included working with the Director of Public Relations, Director of Computer Services, and other College administrators on website content and maintenance. Public Relations Office duties included serving as the collegewide sports information coordinator, responsible for creating disseminating releases, photographs, and other pertinent information to local media outlets and the website; working with the Dean of the College as writer for senior administration, overseeing the publication of a periodic internal newsletter and other special reports and publications as assigned; assisting the Director of Public Relations in the development and production of departmental publications, reports, advertisements, news media stories, public service
4 announcements and press releases; and other special projects as assigned. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the continuing education department on the Fayette Campus. Duties included creation and development of non-credit classes designed to help individuals receive personal enrichment; securing qualified instructors to teach classes; scheduling of classes within the College calendar; serving as source for information about classes and registration into classes; publicizing and advertising classes to local media outlets; maintaining enrollment records in the College operation system AS400; and preparing enrollment reports. Sports Editor/News Writer The Livingston Parish News, Denham Springs, La., Responsible for production of sports section for The Livingston Parish News, a mid-sized newspaper published twice weekly. Duties included writing and editing of stories, taking photographs and laying out content, using Quark XPress and Adobe Photoshop software. Also responsible for coverage of numerous local news beats and related feature stories, including city and parish police departments, fire departments, court records, district attorney s office, local municipalities and others as assigned with related photography. Worked in coordination with others to design and develop comprehensive website for the newspaper. Responsible for regular news and sports updates on website. As part of this group, I was able to be a team member for a visit to St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, to explore
6 the possibility of establishing a tool and die and machine tool technology center in the college service area Visits with Congressional Delegation I traveled with the Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments to discuss the College s needs and priorities with several members of the Alabama Congressional delegation. I was also able to return on two separate occasions to meet with Congressman Robert Aderholt and his staff about projects for the College present Alabama Community College System Human Resource Management Association Professional organization of HR managers from state two-year college system. I was elected Vice President of the organization in 2008 and serve as chair of the Professional Development Team. In this role, I was the lead planner for the 2008 Diversity Conference for the Alabama Community College System.
