Heavy Equipment Operator The Heavy Equipment Operator program trains students with the skills necessary to operate heavy equipment used in construction, safely and productively. Students will gain understanding and skills in site preparation, equipment maintenance, efficient operation as well as grades and stakes. Safety training is administered through lecture, simulated equipment operation and hands on demonstrative proficiency on various pieces of equipment to include: dozers, excavators, skid steers and loaders. I became comfortable on Summit s Basics of Heavy Construction Maintenance simulators before I went out and Grading & Field Staking drove a real forklift. I also learned Basic Construction Math about different soil types and the Loading and Unloading Material OSHA safety requirements of the job. Electrician Summit Academy s Pre-Apprentice Electrician program provides students with hands-on training in the electrical field. During Weeks 1-10 (Phase 1), students learn the basics of commercial and residential construction. Then in Weeks 11-20 (Phase 2), students learn basic electricity, electrical math and practice the specific skills of the electrical trade through hands-on projects. Training is administered by journey-level instructors with construction industry experience at Summit Academy OIC. Everybody at Summit is really behind you and wants to see you succeed. The instructors teach you how to work proficiently on the job site instead of Electrical Safety just teaching from a book, Dameon Basic Electricity said. That right there is a great Electrical Math opportunity for you to excel as soon as you hit the job site. Pipebending Electrical Circuitry Dameon Luce Wiring Methods Summit Academy Graduate

Training will be administered through lecture and demonstrative hands-on proficiency, focusing on the skills warranted by an apprentice entering the trades. Weeks 11-20 training is conducted off-site at St. Paul Technical College. My supervisor was impressed that I knew how to do such specific construction tasks Welders Math - measuring, fractions, decimals, & angles Blueprint Reading & Welding Symbols right after graduating. I just told them that I learned it all OSHA-30 Safety from Summit Academy. Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW or stick welding) Oxy-Fuel Cutting Terrance Simmons Summit Academy Graduate

Women Wear Hard Hats Too Women Wear Hard Hats Too (WWHH2) is a female-focused training program, developed to increase the participation of women in the construction trades. WWHH2 is designed for the unique needs of tradeswomen, including an industry network and advisory council as well as a tradeswomen mentorship program. Female - Focused Training Weekly training and group discussions on female-focused topics ensures students are prepared for success in the classroom and on the job. Examples of training topics include How to Work in a Male-dominated Work Environment and Tricks of the Trade, a 3-part series that introduces students to job site culture and expectations. There s this weight lifted off of me because I am finally able to support myself without having to rely on anybody else. Thanks Summit Academy! Network of Tradeswomen Experienced tradeswomen and other industry professionals regularly volunteer with and interact with the WWHH2 students.
