This has removed the requirement to purchase a certified SAP HANA Appliance from a particular hardware supplier (which is virtually a Black box ) and allows organisations to get a better return on investment (ROI) for their IT resources. In September, 2014 the SAP University Competence Centre Asia Pacific Japan, located at QUT in Brisbane Australia embarked on a Proof of Concept project to build a virtualised SAP HANA appliance. The success of the project has enabled the UCC APJ to now rapidly deploy SAP HANA to the university sector in the APJ region for both teaching and research purposes at a relatively small cost. This presentation will outline the strategy behind the project, some of the technical issues encountered and the various configurations that the UCC APJ is able to offer.
