These instructions assume that a version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader software has already been installed on your system. If the Acrobat Reader is not installed on your system, you can download it from Adobe Systems. If you are using an older version, you can browse to www.adobe.com to get the latest version. 1. Before you can do index-based searches, you must access the Banner documentation using a shortcut on your desktop; index-based searches are not available when viewing the documentation in a web browser. Refer to the document on creating a Banner documentation shortcut for instructions on how to do that. 2. Use your documentation shortcut to access the Banner Bookshelf. You will see the following screen:
3. Click the Search button on the toolbar. This will open a search panel on the right side of your screen, as shown:
4. Click the "Use Advanced Search Options" link on the bottom of the search panel. The screen will change, as shown:

6. In the "File Name" box, type \\mirage\banner\bandoc7x\index7x and click the "Open" button. Several index files (*.pdx) will be displayed. You will need to double-click each one individually to add it to your list of indexes. 7. Repeat the previous step until all of the index files are added. When you have added all of the index files, click OK.
8. You can now enter your search term in the "Search Term" text box, select any other search options you would like to use, and click "Search" to begin the search.
9. The results will be displayed in the "Results" window. You can select the document(s) you want from that window.
