College Scholarships Alfred University- Lelia E. Tupper Writing Scholarship Competition. $1,000 will be awarded for each four years at Alfred University. Manuscripts must be submitted in both of the following categories: creative writing (poem, play, short story) and expository writing (personal or critical essay) The Art Institutes- offers a scholarship competition for students interested in majoring in Design, Media Arts, Fashion, and the Culinary Arts. Amount: ranges from $2,000 to $30,000 Boston College Presidential Scholars Program- This merit-based scholarship is offered to the top ten students who have applied through BCS non-binding Early Action Program. These top ten students are chosen on the basis of their demonstrated excellence in the classroom, in leadership activities, and in service to others. Boston University Trustee Scholarship Competition: Trustee scholars are selected by a faculty committee from a pool of applicants who have been nominated by principals and headmasters. Each scholar receives a renewable scholarship covering full undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees for four years. Scholars are typically in the top 10% of their class and are also very active leaders in their school community and outside community. Students who are nominated but not selected for the trustee scholarship will be considered for other Boston University scholarships. Brooklyn College Presidential Scholarship- Brooklyn College must be 1 st choice on CUNY application. Presidential Honors Program- based on academic achievement 90 average & 1200+ SAT, community service, and demonstrated leadership. Amount: Partial to full scholarship. Amount: $5,000 per year CW POST (Long Island University) University Scholars Award: Up to $15,000 a year for full-time freshmen who have a high school cumulative average of 92 percent or better and SAT score of 1300 or better. Academic Excellence Award: Up to $12,000 a year for full-time freshmen who have a high school cumulative average of 88 and an SAT score of 1200 or better. Academic Incentive Award: $7,000 to $9,000 a year for full-time freshmen who have a high school cumulative average of 85 or better SAT score of 1100 or better. The nomination form and the student s complete application for admission must be postmarked by November 1 st, 2009. All nominees are required to respond to an additional essay prompt and submit a teacher s recommendation in addition to counselor recommendation. Students nominated for the Emory Scholars program may also be nominated for the Goizueta Scholars Program. Scholarship selection is based entirely upon a student s merit, financial need is not considered. Fashion Institute of Technology-Presidential Scholars Program- priority registration, housing in one of FIT s residence halls and an annual merit stipend of $500. Hamilton College- scholarships available to students who are in the top 5% of their graduating class. SAT s must be in the mid 1400 s. Leadership and community involvement will also be considered. Complete an application for admission to be considered. Amount: $2,000 to full tuition. Hofstra University- Distinguished academic scholar program- 3.5 GPA, 1300 SAT, and must be in the top 10% of their class. Amount: full tuition for 4 yrs. Ithaca College- The Park Scholars Award: cover the full cost of attendance, tuition room and board, includes stipend for living expenses and a one time computer purchase. Johnson & Wales University- National Outstanding Student Leader of the Year Scholarship competition. Must submit a resume, an essay on the topic What My Community Leadership Means to Me, and high school transcript. Guidelines for consideration: 3.7 GPA and an SAT score of 1350. Amount: Award values range from $5,000 to full tuition. This award is not need-based and is renewable annually. Manhattan College- Scholarship Competition in French, Italian, and Spanish. Students with an 85 average and is in the top 25% of their class are eligible to take the test. Amount: $2,000 to full tuition. Molloy College- community service awards for students that have demonstrated a commitment to their community and school. Amount: $1,000 to $4,000.

Graduates of Catholic High Schools automatically eligible for $1,000 a year. www.setonhill.edu Skidmore College Porter Presedential Scholarships in Math and Science: Skidmore annually awards up to five $40,000 Porter Presedential Scholarships in Math and Science ($10,000 per year) to students who demonstrate exceptional promise for study in these areas. These scholarships are awarded without regard to financial need. Selection based on :strength of admission application, with particular emphasis on coursework in science and math, standardized test scores, teacher recommendations and pursuits in these areas outside the classroom. St. Francis University- applicants from Catholic High Schools will be eligible for the Franciscan Award. Students must complete the application process, supply an official high school transcript and be accepted to St. Francis University. Amount: $1,500 per year www.francis.edu St. John s University- Community Recognition Award for students who are residents of New York City and enroll as freshmen. Amount: $2,000 per year. St. Joseph s College- full and partial scholarships based on GPA and SAT. Presidential scholarships 90 average and 1100 SAT for full scholarship. Partial scholarships for students with 85 average and 1000 SAT. Rolling admission. St. Thomas Aquinas College- offers a full tuition scholarship through the honors program to students with a 90 GPA and 1200 or better on the SAT. Applicants are expected to have taken honors courses in high school. Include two letters of recommendation for the honors program SUNY Albany- Presidential Scholars Program. Students have an opportunity advanced standing degrees, internships, study abroad, and scholars only housing. University of Tampa- annual national competition to honor outstanding high school talent and achievement in English and writing. Students must submit 5-10 poems or up to 15 pages of short fiction, essays, non-fiction or a combo of the various forms. In addition a 300-500 word autobiographical essay and a high school transcript must be submitted. Amount: up to $8,000 per year. Washington University in St. Louis- Danforth Scholars Program-student must submit letters of recommendation, application and transcript. Student must be nominated. Amount: full and partial tuition.
