Surgical Technologist Position Summary: The incumbent in this position is responsible for intraoperative delivery of patient care in the scrub role; assists Core Leader, OR with orientation, training and supply inventory for a specific surgical specialty consistent with specialty alignment. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/Training: High School graduate or the equivalent (GED). Completion of accredited program in Surgical Technology. Current Certification by examination through Association of Surgical Technologists is preferred. Required Experience: One to two years O.R. experience as Surgical Technologist in an acute care operating room, which included the major surgical specialties i.e. General, GYN, Urology, Neuro, Ortho, ENT, CV, Plastic, with one year OR scrub experience preferred. Knowledge of surgical specialties, instruments, techniques, procedures, anatomy and physiology. Scrub role competence. Must be able to understand the importance of being a member of a specialty team and rotating to other specialties to maintain skills. Ability to teach; adaptable to change. Good verbal and written communications skills. Ability to maintain emotional control and function under stress during emergent and nonemergent situations. SPD Technologist Per Diem Position Summary: The incumbent in this position is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following the established infection control practices. This incumbent is also responsible to preparing surgical case carts. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/Training: High School graduate or equivalent (GED). Nationally recognized Sterile Processing Certification is required within six months of hire. Required Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a sterile processing technician. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Good public relations and communication skills. Ability to deal with high stress associated with high volume critical care departments. 1

3. Heating and A/C Controls Mechanic Position Summary: The incumbent in this position provides patients, families of patients, visitors, and medical center employees with a pleasant, comfortable, safe, functional, and aesthetically attractive environment consistent with the standards established by Georgetown University Hospital, the District of Columbia Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations (JCAHO). Integrates engineering principles and technologies of mechanical (HVAC) systems, electrical systems, electronics, and computer hardware and software in the installation, operation inspection, preventative maintenance and repair. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/Training: High school graduate; Associate s Degree in Electronics; One year of formal schooling in distributed digital controls and electronic controls. District of Columbia 3rd class operator s License or Trade Masters Required Experience: A minimum of four years of responsible experience in the field of HVAC controls, three of which must be in pneumatic and/or electronic devices. Experience must antecede formal schooling or training as demonstrated by completion certificates. One your of experience in distributed direct digital controls and electronic controls. Must be able to use direct digital controls diagnostic computer, electronic test equipment, control test bench, and related diagnostic equipment. Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. High self-management ability; within guidelines, must be able to plan and prioritize own work, to estimate and allocate time needed to perform tasks, and to solicit assistance when needed. Capacity to exercise independent judgment, when to perform, when to consult, and when to defer to other resources. Distribution Specialist Position Summary: The incumbent in this position inventories and distributes medical supplies and equipment to nursing units and other user areas and fills requisitions as requested. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/Training: High School Degree or the equivalent (GED) Required Experience: Knowledge of hospital supplies helpful. One year of warehouse experience desirable. Must have the ability to adapt to a healthcare environment; ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical functions and to read at a tenth grade level. 2

5. Distribution Specialist Full time (Nights), 80 hours per pay period Position Summary: The incumbent in this position is a supervisor responsible for the overall supervision and operation of all activities within the specified shift. This role includes the management of personnel as it relates to the quality of service and productivity. It will also assure that all patient care needs are met through effective staff assignments, prioritizing, and utilization of resources. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. Required Education/Training: High School Degree required. College Associate Degree preferred. Sterile Processing Technician Certification required. Sterile Processing Certified Instructor preferred and will be required within two years of hire. Required Experience: Minimum of four years of experience inclusive of two years in a supervisory position, or comparable experience required. Strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures & policies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Patient Services Associate Position Summary: The incumbent in this position ensures smooth flow of patients into and out of the department. Utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to communicating information between multiple levels within the organization. Provides significant support to the PACU staff by obtaining throughput and patient data and other medical information. Coordinates the supply chain for the PACU. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures, and standards. Required Education and Training: High school degree required. Associate s degree strongly preferred. Required Experience: A minimum of three years clerical experience in a fast-paced acute care or primary care environment. Medical/surgical terminology; experience working with multiple telephone lines; office skills, including knowledge and operational use of automated systems, basic computer skills, and pneumatic tube system required; strong ability to maintain professional demeanor and function at a high level in an often stressful environment; excellent oral and written communication skills required. Knowledge of PICIS is desirable. 3

7. Central Scheduling Associate Position Summary: The individual in this position serves as the primary scheduling point of contact for scheduling activities for all hospital-based ancillary and GPG departments. The individual is responsible for performing the functions and activities related to accurate patient scheduling including, but not limited to: working with departments on their physician scheduling protocols, supporting the master schedulers where necessary, accurate and complete patient registration and scheduling and accurate patient insurance assignment. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s (GUH) philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education: High School graduate or GED required. Associate s Degree preferred. Knowledge of medical and health care terminology a must. Required Experience: Three years experience scheduling in a medical/clinical office required. Previous experience with computerized scheduling and registration systems. Working knowledge of IDX / GE Centricity Business preferred. Previous experience with an electronic health record system desired, especially GE Centricity Clinical or Aria. Able to work in a complex work environment with heavy call volume that involves coordination and support with various departments, patients, healthcare providers and systems. The problems presented often require advanced analytical skills and highly developed communication/service delivery skills in order to successfully handle disgruntled and confused patients. Senior Coding Specialist Position Summary: Performs retrospective deficiency analysis on all inpatient, same day surgery, and outpatient records. Abstracts clinical data from the medical records for statistical and research purposes. Also, assigns the ICD-9- CM and CPT-4 codes as well as designate the appropriate DRG per record under prospective payment guidelines. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/Training: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and/or an Accredited Medical Record Program. Preferred experience in coding may substitute for degree. Must possess current DC licensure as a nurse and/or certification for an Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist Physician (CCS-P), or Certified Procedural Coder (CPC). Required Experience: At least two to three years medical record coding experience in an acute care setting preferred. Attention to detail accompanied by good organizational skills. Able to deal effectively with physicians, liaisons, department administrators and support staff. Able to work independently and practice self-direction. Able to communicate and deal with physicians in a professional and articulate manner and understand medical terminology specific to body systems. 4

9. Deputy Radiation Safety Officer Position Summary: Ensures the Radiation Safety Program provisions are implemented in accordance with all federal, state, local and the organization s mission, vision, policies and procedures. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards Required Education/Training: Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Physics, Medical Physics, physical science, engineering, or biological science with a minimum of 20 college credits in physical science. Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Health Physics, Medical Physics, physical science, engineering, or biological science with a minimum of 20 college credits in physical science and/or certification by the American Board of Health Physics is preferred. Training and experience criteria as outlined in subpart J, Part 35, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations for a Radiation Safety Officer. Certification by the American Board of Health Physics, or approval by a District of Columbia agency to perform X-ray machine inspections is preferred. Required Experience: Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of progressively more responsible positions related experience in the management of radiation safety operations with radioactive materials including waste management in the clinical setting. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in Medical Health Physics to include: conducting ionizing radiation surveys and measurements; preparing written reports of radiation protection activities; analyzing samples for radioactivity; personnel dosimetry - Radiation Badges; shipment of radioactive materials; calibration and maintenance of instruments used during routine Radiation Safety activities; Inspection of X-ray units; securing and controlling radioactive material; use of administrative controls to ensure safety in the administration of byproduct material; use of procedures to prevent or minimize radioactive contamination and implementation of proper decontamination procedures; use of emergency response procedures to control byproduct material; and disposal of byproduct material; or experience and knowledge In managing health physics practices in nuclear medicine, and radiation oncology, facilities providing full range of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services; knowledge and experience in diagnostic medical physics with emphasis in the use of x-rays. Excellent leadership, management and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Detailed knowledge of current and proposed regulations including: Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR); Title 40 of Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR); Title 49 of Code of Federal Regulations, and District of Columbia Regulatory Agency (DCRA). 5

10. Coding Reimbursement Auditor Position Summary: Through analysis of clinical data, medical records, and regulatory guidelines; identification for improvement opportunities will be determined and acted upon using various methods of communication, and education of personnel and medical staff. The incumbent will be responsible for development and implementation of programs, processes, and tools to accomplish Departmental and Administrative goals related to optimal and compliant reporting of its services thru coding procedure. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/ Training: Bachelor s of Science or Arts degree. Coding certification, CPC-H or CCS certification preferred. Required Experience: 5 years operational and proven management experience in a hospital/ professional patient account services. Must be able to competently assess current processes, make educated recommendations, and follow recommendations through to implementation. Must be able to prepare and respond to various hospital and corporate committees providing professional reports as required. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Have knowledge of ICD-10, ICD 9-CM, CPT-4, coding, anatomy, physiology, adjudication of claims and operational experience in Hospital PAS is required. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the DRG structure and regulatory requirements with past auditing experience or strong training background in reimbursement or strong training background in reimbursement. Must have a working knowledge of Word, Encoder, UB-04 Editor, SSI Acrobat Reader, and CMS Website. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to operate proficiently in multiple programs within the system to audit on line for all hospitals (CMS, FMS, and Physician View). Must be able to work with Information Systems regarding problems with interfaces (Cerner, SMS, Pyxis, Customization, etc). Must be able to work with IS to develop solutions to billing problems. Must be able work with outsourced consultants and hospital departments to maintain compliance. 6

PRN Speech Language Pathologist, Inpatient Adult Per Diem/ Weekend Shift Position Summary: On a per diem basis, provides a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services for patients with speech-language and/or swallowing disorders. Tests, evaluates, plans, and develops appropriate therapy modalities based on the patient s individual ability/disability. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/ Certification: Master s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited School of Speech-Language Pathology. Current D.C. license or qualified candidate for DC license as a Speech Language Pathologist. Upon hire, must have a D.C. Required Experience: One to two years of related experience in a physical disabilities setting obtained either in an acute care or rehabilitation facility preferred. 20. PRN Rehabilitation Technician Per Diem/ Day Shift Position Summary: Performs a variety of functions to assist the professional staff in the department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. Under direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT), Physical Therapist (PT), or Speech Pathologist (SLP) aids patients with therapeutic exercises and/or activities. Upon successful completion of departmental competencies, may independently perform multiple functions that are not related to a patient's plan of care, e.g. transportation of patients, and various program service functions such as gym set up to prepare for patient treatment, supplies inventory, etc. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required education and training: B.S. degree in a medical science or exercise science is preferred, but not required. Must complete competencies in a variety of skills when hired and on an annual basis thereafter. Required experience: Entry level position. Basic knowledge of exercise programs, some exposure and experience dealing with a variety of patients is preferred. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patient, the medical and professional staff, and the public. Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written English language instructions. Ability to communicate clearly. Demonstrates knowledge of relevant therapy practices. Ophthalmology Technician Per Diem/ Day Shift Position Summary: Provides primary ophthalmic care to patients acting as an assistant to physicians in the Department of Ophthalmology. Performs complete ophthalmic history and preliminary examinations, subspecialty tests, and contact lens work. Required Education/Training: Training from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician / Technologist site. Successful completion of Ophthalmic Assistant course. Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) required. CPR certification preferred. Required Experience: Three years of ophthalmic experience. Knowledge of professional ophthalmic theory, practice and medical care to give and evaluate patients. Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional ophthalmic technician/technologists to provide ongoing patient care. Skill in taking both medical and ocular histories to assess ocular conditions and interpret findings. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Per Diem Specialty X- Ray Technologist (Ultrasound) Per Diem/ Day Shift Position Summary: The incumbent in this position, under general supervision, will perform CT and/or Ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols, as requested by referring physicians and as directed by the radiologists. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Required Education/Training: Must be ARRT registered and have completed training in an approved Ultrasound program. A minimum of six months hands-on training is required. R.D.M.S. registered or registry eligible. This technologist must become CPR certified. Required Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of two years of CT experience and be trained in Ultrasound or willing to train in Ultrasound. Preference will be given to applicants with prior CT and US experience. Must be familiar with and able to perform and/or learn the technical operations associated with CT. Must be familiar with and able to perform and/or learn the technical operations associated with US. Must be able to work under stressful and emergent situations. 13
