The Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-Based (CCS-P ) is a competency-based (knowledge and experience) credential that is designed to validate the skills and knowledge of physician-based coding professionals and demonstrates the mastery of CCS-P responsibilities that support business growth and quality health care. Who should take the CCS-P exam? 2 Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must meet one of the following eligibility requirements: Current RHIA, RHIT, or CCS credential holder OR Completion of a coding training program that includes anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, medical terminology, reimbursement methodology, intermediate/advanced ICD diagnostic/procedural and CPT coding; OR Minimum of two years of related coding experience directly applying codes; OR Current CCA credential holder and one year of coding experience directly applying codes; OR Current holder of a coding credential from another certifying organization and one year coding experience directly applying codes. Where do I take the exam? Candidates can only test in their country of residence at an AHIMA authorized location. What is the CCS-P Exam Prep Workshop?
