OCTOBER 8 9 Kontakt der Kontinenten Soesterberg The Netherlands COMBURA 14 COMBUSTION RESEARCH AND APPLICATION SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT & CALL FOR POSTERS
General Introduction The COMBURA symposium is the major annual event in the Netherlands for exchange of information on combustion research and its practical applications. It is a joint initiative of the Technology Foundation STW (Platform Clean and Efficient Combustion), the Nederlandse Vlam Vereniging NVV (Netherlands Association for Flame Research) and the Dutch section of the Combustion Institute. COMBURA 2014 is sponsored by KIVI, section Energy and Heat Technology. Participants are expected from universities, research institutes, and industrial companies in the Netherlands and the surrounding countries. At the symposium the latest developments and innovations in advanced combustion research with a clear focus on the potential for application in industry will be presented. In addition, the symposium offers unique chances to expand and maintain your personal network. Combustion Technology and since 2002 scientific director of the Combustion Technology Group. He is also the program leader of the STW Perspectief program Clean Combustion Concepts (CCC) which is ending this year. In 2011 Philips de Goey received the Simon Stevin Master award from STW for excellent research and promoting the use of research results by companies. His keynote will be about the impact of the Flamelet Generated Manifolds (FGM) method for numerical modeling of combustion processes with focus on the CCC projects. Next to the two keynotes, 20 minutes talks will be given in parallel sessions by experts in the field of combustion research from universities, research institutes and companies from the Netherlands and surrounding countries. Session topics in the morning are Highlights of the Clean Combustion Concepts porgramme and Liquid fuel combustion. In the afternoon there are sessions on Applied combustion and Combustion modeling. COMBURA 2014 will take place at Wednesday 8 October and Thursday 9 October 2014. The venue for this event will be the conference hotel Kontakt der Kontinenten in Soesterberg, which is between the cities Utrecht and Amersfoort. Kontakt der Kontinenten is located in an old monastry and surrounded by forest. Wednesday 8 October The first day of the symposium will start in the late afternoon with the NVV Members Meeting. NVV members will receive a separate invitation for this meeting. After the meeting the COMBURA conference dinner will be served. This dinner is also open to non-nvv members and COMBURA participants are invited to join. After the dinner the bar is open and participants can stay overnight in one of the comfortable hotel rooms. One of the highlights of the COMBURA symposium will be the presentation of the NVV Combustion Award for the best Master Thesis in the area of combustion technology. The winning young expert will give a lecture about his combustion research project. In the poster session Work in Progress new research results will be presented. The best three posters will be rewarded with the Combustion Institute Poster Prize. Thursday 9 October For the second day of the COMBURA symposium two keynote speakers will be invited to give a lecture. The opening keynote is not known yet, but the symposium will be closed with a keynote lecture of Prof. Philip de Goey from Eindhoven University of Technology. Philip de Goey is full Professor in
