In recent years, we have seen a usage shift from paid to free evaluation experiences and resources. As a result, Microsoft has decided to retire the TechNet Subscriptions service and will focus on growing its free offerings, including cloud-based evaluation resources through the TechNet Evaluation Center, expert-led learning through the Microsoft Virtual Academy, and community-moderated technical support through the TechNet Forums. If you own TechNet Subscription licenses, please see the July 2013 Product Use Rights for the license terms governing your continued use of such products under existing licenses and any additional licenses you acquire under the terms of your volume license agreement. We will continue to support active EA Attach contracts until the customer agreement expiration dates. We do not recommend selling Premier through the existing Premeir EA Attach SKUs any longer, as this prolongs your customer s opportunity to move to a rationalized set of offerings and, most importantly, a Premier offering that meets their business required outcomes. The following countries are part of the retirement plan for September 1st, 2013: Algeria Egypt Israel Netherlands Spain Australia Estonia Italy New Zealand Sri Lanka Austria Finland Jordan Norway Sweden Bangladesh France Korea Pakistan Switzerland Belgium Germany Latvia Panama Taiwan Bolivia Greece Lebanon Paraguay Thailand Brazil Guatemala Libya Peru Tunisia Bulgaria Hong Kong Liechtenstein Philippines Turkey China Hungary Lithuania Romania Ukraine Colombia Iceland Luxembourg Saudi Arabia United Kingdom Croatia India Malaysia Serbia Venezuela Denmark Indonesia Montenegro Slovakia Vietnam Ecuador Ireland Morocco Slovenia As a preview, the following countries will be included in the July 1, 2014 retirement efforts: Angola Cayman Kuwait Qatar Turks & Caikos 6
Argentina Chile Mexico Rest of E/S UAE Africa Bahamas Czech Rep. Nigeria Russia Uruguay Bahrain Indian Ocean Islands Bermuda Japan Poland Oman Singapore USA South Africa Canada Kenya Portugal Trinidad & Tobago WECA Why the retirement of EA Attach SKUs? Based upon Premier s migration to outcome-based selling and portfolio rationalization as well as limited global adoption of the EA Attach motion to justify global program management, we implemented a methodical sunset plan to discontinue Premier EA Attach SKUs as a customer s renewal anniversary occurs. We will take the learnings from this program and continue to pursue alternative options to accelerate Premier in partnership with EPG and SMS&P EA sales motion. As we migrate to the next version of Premier in FY14, sellers will need to change the conversation with customers and focus on delivering a Premier experience based upon customer requirements versus selling hours as offered in the standard Premier packages today. The SKUs will lose relevance with the new Premier; hours will no longer be sold mapped to the Premier EA Attach SKUs. The sales motion of selling Premier at the time of an EA contract remains intact. The only difference is the option of using the Premier EA Attach SKUs will no longer exist. Sellers are encouraged to sell Premier via standalone Premier contract and engage in selling the rationalized portfolio of proactive and reactive solutions. Point Count Changes Changes to Point Counts cannot be tied to a particular price list month. Point counts flow to downstream systems as soon as they are either set, or changed. While this precludes the ability to provide a 30-day preview on point count changes, it does mean that point count errors can be corrected quickly without relying on the following month s price list publication schedule. As point count changes will not be visible on the preview price list, please refer to the Product List for updated point counts in the interim. License point values (referred to as the Unit Count on price lists) are assigned based on a product s global base price using a sliding scale and are only applicable in the Open and Select program. Each product pool (Applications, Systems, Server) has a unique scale for assigning point counts.
