The AEP Foundation & Columbus State - AEP Credit Counts Kelly Hogan, Columbus State Community College The American Electric Power Foundation has funded the AEP Credit Counts program for a 5-year period. It will be located at five local CCS high schools. The focus for each program will be specific to each school. All programs will have a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focus. Program elements will include: Middle School STEM exploration, college readiness assessment and tutoring, summer experiences, bridge programs for English and math skills, and dual enrollment courses in high school with Columbus State Community College (CSCC).

Whetstone High School s AEP Credits Count Plan Whetstone s emphasis is a career-technical pathway focused on Computer Science. Matthew Wood, School Counselor at Whetstone High School This will include a minimum of four career-technical courses including foundational work in computer concepts, applications, and programming Courses count directly toward multiple technology programs at Columbus State such as Software Developer, Network Security, Web Developer, & Network Administrator Student may take additional courses that are required for an Associate Degree at Columbus State. These may include English Composition, American History, Physics, and Introduction to Logic All courses will be taken at Whetstone High School Students will have the option of taking additional courses at Columbus State

We are actively building bridges for students to overcome barriers to education. The American Electric Power Foundation will assist us to surmount barriers to entering college. At a rate of $382.00 per credit hour (which is OSU s tuition rate this school year), Whetstone s 344 college credits for this school year are worth $131,408!
