3 Program Eligibility FORMS 1) Information Certification 2) Intent to Participate After this evening any completed forms must be submitted to the Guidance Office (A114) ~(Middle school guidance offices will send forms up to MHS)
4 Advanced Standing Opportunities Advanced Standing Program Credit Earned Advanced Placement (AP) Secondary Credit College Credit Plus (CCP) Secondary and College Credit Future potential to earn college credit Requires a third-party assessment (AP exam), a score of 3 or above for credit upon enrollment (minimum score for credit may vary by college) Opportunity to earn college credit during high school Requires college enrollment during high school. College credit is transcripted upon student s successful completion of the course
5 What is College Credit Plus? CCP replaces Ohio s Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program (PSEO) and all alternative dual enrollment programs CCP offers qualified students the opportunity earn college credit which will also be used to fulfill their high school graduation requirements
6 Why choose CCP? Helps prepare students for post-secondary education and careers Increases access to rigorous academic pursuits and a broad range of content Provides cost savings to students/families for college education and/or career enhancements

8 Program Eligibility Grades 7-12 College ready Qualify for college admission to a public or participating private college *College-readiness determined by college.*
9 Enrollment Options Option A earn college credit only Eligible students enroll in college courses for college credit. Student pays for the tuition, books and fees. Option B earn high school and college credit Full college credit awarded by Ohio public colleges High school credit towards graduation Students attending a public college will not be charged for tuition, books, or fees. Students attending a private college may be charged for tuition, books, and fees.
10 Enrollment Options Full time on college campus Part time on college campus and part time in traditional classes Dual credit courses offered MHS English Comp 1/English Comp 2 College Algebra/Trigonometry Calculus 3/Differential Equations (distance learning)
11 Earning Academic Credit 3+ college credits = 1 high school credit 2 college credits = high school credits 1 college credit = high school credits Earn up to 30 college credit hours per academic year 120 college credit hours maximum from CCP
12 Earning Academic Credit A student may not exceed full-time status. Counselors will calculate full-time status as follows: 1)Determine student s number of high school ONLY units 2)Multiply that number by 3, and 3)Subtract the result from the number 30. 4)That number is the total number of college credits that CCP student may earn that academic year. Calculation Example: 2 HS credits x 3 = 6 (English & Math) 30-6 =24 college credits they may earn
13 Earning Academic Credit A grade awarded by the college will be counted as an equivalent district grade. If the district applies a weighted grading system for coursework taken at the high school, this system will apply for all courses taken at the college within the equivalent subject areas.
14 Transferring Academic Credit How do credits earned from CCP transfer after high school? Ohio s Transfer to Degree Guarantee Credits earned at an Ohio public college are guaranteed to transfer to any other Ohio public college Credits earned at private colleges, or those that you want to transfer to an out-of-state institution, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the institution you are seeking to attend
15 Consequences of Failing a Course If a student withdraws from or fails a class, you may have to pay for it. Classes failed or withdrawn with an F will receive an F on both the high school and college transcript and will be computed into the high school and college GPA.
16 Meeting MHS Graduation Requirements Parent/Student responsibility to make sure graduation requirements are met No High School Graduation Requirement shall be waived for any student as a result of participation in this program
17 Transportation RESPONSIBILITY FOR TRANSPORTATION RESTS WITH THE STUDENT Students enrolled in credit classes at Lakeland are provided free Laketran bus service Monday to Friday on local bus routes 1-6 within Lake County Student covers any parking expenses
18 Available Support Services Mentor High School counseling services health services nurse available teacher help College professor office hours CCP advisors
19 Counseling session with the CCP college or university CCP student must participate in a counseling session with the CCP counselor prior to participation High school counselor will help student locate college counseling service Students/parents responsibility to make contact Student/parent should consult college counselor concerning course selection
20 Scheduling Participation in CCP is contingent upon admission to a college. Schedule changes will be made prior to each semester for those students who receive notice of admission If a class is withdrawn within the first two weeks, the student will be re-enrolled in high school courses which were previously dropped Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate student needs in order to participate in CCP
21 Academic and Social Responsibilities Students/Parents responsibility for participation: Applying for admission to college Meeting all requirements and standards for college courses Meeting attendance requirements Arranging for transportation Following the MHS Student Code of Conduct while attending classes or co-curricular/extra-curricular activities at all times
22 OHSAA Eligibility for Athletics MHS requires students to take the following minimum number of courses 9 th grade : 6/6 courses per semester 10 th grade : 6/6 courses per semester 11 th grade : 6/5 courses per semester 12 th grade : 5/5 courses per semester OHSAA 5 credit rule PE/conditioning does not count towards the 5 credits Student athletes must maintain a 2.00 GPA A failing grade could result in an ineligibility for the next full semester
23 NCAA Eligibility Division I or II (Athletics) NCAA eligibility rules state that student-athletes will need to meet athletic and academic requirements for the division they wish to compete in Requirements will include: Meeting core course requirements specific to NCAA division I or division II. Meeting grade-point averages for NCAA division I or meeting grade and test requirements for division II. *Student must request a formal transcript from the CCP college or university*
