GLOSSARY OF TERMS Compulsory course A course which must be studied as part of a programme of study by all students. Cross credits A Cross Credit is given to a student when they have successfully completed a course at MIT or another institution, which is equivalent to a course on their present programme. Occurrence The time and place that a course is held. Programme A set or group of courses that must be passed by a student to meet the requirement of a qualification. 2

ONSITE DELIVERY NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND COMPUTING LEVEL 2 NC5214 Method of study Qualification Duration Full-time National Certificate 13 weeks ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the following entry requirements: Have successfully completed a relevant bridging programme or Start dates January, May and August Credits 60 Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English, i.e. minimum of 10 NCEA English credits at Level 1 or equivalent or Cost (2016 Fees) Students must complete the following: FREE Gain a minimum mark of 12.5 out of 20 in the School s programme entry assessment or An overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 with no score below 5.0 or equivalent. Customer Service (Level 2) Customer Service and Administration (Level 2) Data Processing (Level 2) Data and Document Processing (Level 2) ABOUT THE PROGRAMME This full-time programme is designed to provide introductory skills in computing, office administration, customer service and written communication. Learners are provided with a range of learning opportunities that will enhance their awareness and knowledge of working in a diverse and modern business environment. Previous knowledge or experience is not required. Graduates can staircase on to other programmes within the Faculty or apply for entry level employment. This programme takes 13 weeks to complete. Attendance at class is required for up to 17 hours per week. Where possible classes will be timetabled over three days. Timetables will be sent on enrolment. Students who have attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the minimum entry requirements for a programme will be eligible to be enrolled as a student where their previous educational, work or life experience indicates they have a reasonable likelihood of success. Students who have not attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the required minimum entry requirements for a programme may also be eligible to enrol in exceptional circumstances. Such decisions will be made by the Faculty Dean. Applicants will be accepted in order of application. 3

ONSITE DELIVERY NEW ZEALAND CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS (ADMINISTRATION AND TECHNOLOGY) LEVEL 3 NZ2452 Method of study Qualification Duration Start dates Full-time New Zealand Certificate 13 weeks January, May and August ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the following entry requirements: EITHER Have a minimum of 40 credits at Level 1 or above, or equivalent Credits 60 AND Cost (2016 Fees) $2900 (approx.) Graduates can staircase to the New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 4). Students are trained within the award winning RICOH Business Training Centre which provides a simulated office environment to prepare you for the workplace. This programme takes 13 weeks to complete. Attendance at class is 20 hours per week. Timetables will be sent on enrolment. - A minimum of 10 NCEA Literacy credits at Level 1 or above or - Any applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 (with no score below 5.0) or equivalent achieved within the preceding 2 years. OR Gained a minimum mark of 14 out of 20 in the Faculty Communication Assessment OR Have successfully completed the National Certificate in Business Administration and Computing (Level 2) or equivalent qualification. ONSITE DELIVERY NEW ZEALAND CERTIFICATE IN CONTACT CENTRES LEVEL 3 MN2303 Method of study Qualification Duration Start dates Full-time New Zealand Certificate 13 weeks January, May and August Credits 65 Cost (2016 Fees) Students must complete the following: Customer Service Contact Centre Technology and Computing Sales ABOUT THE PROGRAMME + $2900 (approx) The Contact Centre industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Enhance your employability by gaining highly regarded, industry relevant skills applicable to a variety of contact centre positions. Students will gain the essential sales, customer service and computing skills required by the Contact Centre industry by training in the simulated contact centre at MIT. The full time New Zealand Certificate in Contact Centres Level 3 programme is designed specifically for people wanting to enter the contact centre industry in customer service representative (CSR) roles who want to gain formal qualifications. Students also visit contact centres during the course of the programme to observe them in operation. + Students will need to provide their own headsets which must be Lync certified. These are available to purchase from PB Technologies located on Floor 2 of MIT Manukau campus at a cost of approximately $68 incl. GST. Please note the headsets must be Lync certified. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the following entry requirements: Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English, i.e. minimum of 12 NCEA English credits at Level 1 or equivalent or Gain a minimum mark of 14 out of 20 in the Department s communication assessment or Any applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 (with no score below 5.0) or equivalent achieved within the preceding 2 years and Be physically capable of completing the practical aspects of the programme* *Applicants must be able to multi-task using phones, computer and keyboard, sit at the computer for extended periods, and not have a hearing or sight impairment that hinders their ability to do the practical aspects of the programme. Credentialise your contact centre work experience by completing this programme. There will be monthly intakes and students will follow the above cluster schedule and re-enrol each month into the next cluster in the programme. The programme can take up to 10 months to complete. + Due to the programme requirements, students who wish to complete this programme must be working in a contact centre. 7

ONSITE DELIVERY NEW ZEALAND CERTIFICATE IN BUSINESS (ADMINISTRATION AND TECHNOLOGY) LEVEL 4 NZ2461 Method of study Qualification Duration Start dates Full-time New Zealand Certificate 13 weeks January, May and August ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants must meet the following entry requirements: EITHER Have a minimum of 40 credits at Level 2 or above, or equivalent Credits 60 Cost (2016 Fees) $2900 (approx.) Select one specialisation (Business Support, Financial Administration, or Medical Administration*) according to individual employment goals. *Students will need to provide their own headsets for the Medical Administration specialisation. Students must complete the following: 332.405 Business Information Processing 332.406 Business Documents 332.407 Administration Systems 332.408 Business Services ABOUT THE PROGRAMME This full-time programme allows students to select specialisations in business support, financial administration or medical administration. Students are trained in the award-winning RICOH Business Training Centre which provides a simulated office environment to prepare you for the workplace. Students are prepared for a variety of roles such as accounts clerk, payroll officer, financial clerk, administrator, sole charge, receptionist, customer services, administrative assistant, word processor, secretary, medical receptionist, medical secretary, ward clerk, clinic clerk, booking clerk, medical word processor and clinical records officer. Graduates can staircase to the Diploma in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 5). Optional work experience opportunities for full-time students are available to those who meet the specified criteria. This programme takes 13 weeks to complete. Attendance at class is 22 hours per week. AND Have English language competence to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English ie - A minimum of 10 NCEA Literacy credits at Level 1 or above or - Any applicants whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic) band score of 5.5 (with no score below 5.0) or equivalent achieved within the preceding 2 years. OR A minimum of 3 credits at Level 2 or above from the NQF writing domain OR Gained a minimum mark of 16 out of 20 in the Faculty Communication Assessment OR Have successfully completed the New Zealand Certificate in Business (Administration and Technology) (Level 3) or equivalent qualification. AND It is recommended that students have an understanding of word processing and spreadsheets.
