Specifications and available options REINFORCE SIES We concentrate particularly on heavy duty slides. Among our products we have developed a range of slides we refer to as "reinforced". This characteristic consists of enclosing reinforced ball bearings within the body of the slides. This process restricts twisting of the beams under load.this modification enables the load capacity to be greatly increased at the same time as it reduces the pull-out and push-in forces. This type of product is highly recommended for mountings where the slide undergoes a torque or for mountings on the minor axis. EN STOPS CHAMBREAN slides are fitted with stops which limit the extension, both for opening and closing. 4 types of end stops are available for CHAMBREAN slides: End stop for intermediate load capacity. Intermediate end stop for average load capacity or for standard use. Shock absorbing spring on heavy duty slides. Some end stops in aluminium slides can be used as a retainer in the closed position. TREATMENT AGAINST CORROSION AN SURFACE TREATMENT: REFER TO THE PAGE 7 OCKS An optional locking device enables the slide to be held in the fully extended or closed position. Simply activate the mobile part of the latch to allow the drawer to fold back. Three locking types are possible, i.e.: - ock in the open position - ock in the closed position - ock in the open and closed positions NB: In most applications, depending on the drawer width, out of two slides only one may need to be fitted with a lock to retain the drawer or the mobile chassis in the required position. ISCONNECT OPTION isconnection is an option on some models which allows you to remove the inner beam from the slide and then to insert it again in the same slide. This option is necessary when installation is carried out in confined areas where it would be hard to mount standard slides or to gain access to equipment requiring maintenance. This system is very sensitive and, therefore, very sensitive to mishandling.that is why CHAMBREAN recommends that fast demountable systems, such as studs, are used as often as possible. OUBE EXTENSION (TWO WAY MOVEMENT) FITTINGS FOR FIXING Several mounting methods are possible on slides. For example, CHAMBREAN can deliver (depending on the slide): An extension towards the front or the back of the fixed beam can be supplied on some types of slides.though easy to set up on 2 beam slides, it requires specific latches on the three beam slides.this makes the setting up of an internal locking system impossible. Technical specification for surface treatments All CHAMBREAN slides come with a treatment against corrosion. The standard treatment, i.e. zinc plating for steel slides and colourless anodization for aluminium versions, suits most uses. Other or extra treatments can be carried out according to the application or to the environmental requirements. STEE SIES CEAR ZINC PATING WITHOUT CHROM VI (RoHS) Standard treatment This standard treatment is conformed to RoHS European regulation. It consists of a zinc layer of an average 12 microns (with a minimum of 8) thickness. The average resistance of this treatment lasts up to 200 hours with the salt spray test before appearance of white rust and 600 hours with the salt spray test before appearance of red rust. AUMINIUM SIES CEAR ANOIZATION Standard treatment The standard treatment of the aluminium slides is clear anodization. Of clear grey in colour, it offers an anti-corrosive protection. In some applications we advise the use of stainless steel balls to increase the anticorrosion behaviour. This is an option, feel free to contact us. ZINC NICKE 12 15 % Optional A zinc-nickel surface treatment guarantees a high level of resistance against rust. Salt spray tests show results of over 800 hours before appearance of red rust depending on the type of profile. HAR ANOIZATION Optional Of a dark grey colour, it is used as anti-corrosive protection and transforms the surface layer of aluminium to give it, on the surface, a hardness close to that of steel. This zinc-nickel surface treatment meets the requirements of the RoHS European regulation. The zinc-nickel layer is resistant against rust at temperatures up to 900º Celsius and also in marine conditions. Further the zinc-nickel treatment gives protection against the influence of hydrogen and nitrogen or of vapour up to 400º Celsius. This surface treatment is also not effected by contact with organic acids and food, leaving no contamination on these products. This treatment is unsuitable for locking mechanism. GASEOUS NITRO-CARBURISING Optional This option ensures, in addition to anti-corrosive protection, a surface hardness of almost 35 HRC which ensures a better durability of the slide. Resistance to the marking of the raceways by the balls in the event of prolonged static position thus is largely improved. STAINESS STEE SIES EECTROYTIC POISHING Optional Electrolytic polishing which gives a shiny finish to the parts. ENGTHS AVAIABE IN STOCK Standard slides are stocked in lengths 150 mm to 2000 mm. From 150 to 900 mm we comprehensively hold lengths with 50 mm increments. Beyond this, the sildes are stocked in 100 mm increments up to 2000 mm. OA CAPACITY The lengths kept in stock correspond to the usual requests. Others lengths are possible on request. The maximum safe load is given for a fully extended pair of slides, mounted on the major axis, with a load spread uniformly along the inner beam. TEMPERATURE Standard operating temperatures are up to 80 C, even for slides with plastic fitted parts. Technical specifications of CHAMBREAN telescopic slides Some slides can be used within temperatures from - 65 to + 250 C. If your slide is to be used in an application with an extreme temperature, please state when placing the order. MATERIA In this case, we have to adapt the slides by removing the possible non-metal elements and providing a very free movement allowing the expansion of the various parts without ceasing the slides. We also have to use a special grease. On the minor axis: 60% of the load capacity On the major axis: 100% of the load capacity CHAMBREAN makes its slide profiles by cold drawing or by machining in long lengths, usually 6 metres. This manufacturing method improves the quality of the steel used through the work hardening resulting from processing. So, a cold drawn XC10 used in models like the RA5R offers the quality of semi hard steel on its ball tracks. On heavy duty products, CHAMBREAN uses semi-hard steel, also work hardened. The balls are made of chromium steel (100C6). The working loads given in this catalogue include a high safety margin enabling the slides to operate in most applications. The safe working load depends on the extension, the type of mounting and the freguency of use. So an increased extension limits the safe load, whereas a reduced extension enables it to increase its performance. When the slides are mounted on the minor axis, it is advisable to reduce the safe working load by around 40% depending on the slide. The slide is an assembly of profiles,each of them presenting tolerances of 1 mm per metre in straightness and of 1 per metre in twisting. We take up these tolerances by fitting different diameters of ball bearings. This leads to a thickness tolerance up to 0.6 mm. EFECTION eflection is the non permanent deformation measured in mm s when the slides are uniformly loaded, fully extended and mounted on the major axis. Mounting recommendations for Chambrelan telescopic slides MOUNTING INTENSIVE USE CHAMBREAN slides are reliable and robust products. Mounted on the major axis, per pair, with a uniformly distributed load, CHAMBREAN slides will give you complete satisfaction. The rules for good mounting are: 1 - Use all the fixings provided 2 - Make sure the slides are parallel 3 - Align fronts of slides (important especially in case of locking devices) 4 - Make sure the mounting surfaces are flat and even. Following the mounting rules will guarantee smooth and steady running of the slides as well as an optimum lifespan. MOUNTING ON A MINOR AXIS / MOUNTING WITH TORQUE In case of intensive use (slides working on assembly lines with opening and closing cycle every minute 24 hours/day), CHAMBREAN advises two adaptations: 1 - Use larger model slide. 2 - Gaseous Nitro-Carburising treatment for a better resistance to wear (higher superficial hardness on ball tracks). SIING OORS The mounting should preferably be carried out with linear slides which ensure guidance all along the travel and so no deflection is measured. Nevertheless, telescopic slides may be used when unrestricted access through the opening is required. In this case you have to keep in mind the deflection at the end of the slide: this deflection can be prevented by using a wheel under the front end of the door. Important reminder: when mounting on the minor axis, the load capacity of the slides is reduced by 40% compared with the basic load. In that case you recommend you use reinforced slides which are more suited to this kind of stress. Take care, both deflection and pull in / pull out forces will increase. VERTICA MOUNTING The slides should be laid out on the major axis: their load endurance is at its longest in this position. Contact us. In an up and down vertical mounting (for example a machine guard in a machine tool) it is better to use linear slides equipped with carriers. NB: When ball bearing slides, designed to operate horizontally, are used in an upright or inclined application, ball cages shift downwards because of gravity. This shift will cause a progressive loss of extension. There are technical solutions to improve the operation and hold of the slides. A common and practical adaptation for some users is to use type "BB" slides when a fixed slide carries 2 panels, which extend on both sides to open a way. MOUNTING IN A POUTE ENVIRONMENT CHAMBREAN slides come without a protection device or system against dust, particles, etc. There is a risk that the presence of impurities in the tracks may rapidly cause jamming, ceasing or premature wear of slides. One or more carriers may be used within each length of rail. Carriers are adapted to the rail (general manufacturing tolerances are around 1/10th of millimetre). A minimum maintenance CHAMBREAN slides have been designed to function with a minimum maintenance. Slides are lubricated in house with a grease for an optimum lifespan. In case of aggressive conditions of use (corrosive environment, intensive use...) we advise a regular and systematic maintenance of the slide. inear rails The linear rail is made from a cold drawn steel profile (some small dimension rails are in aluminium). This manufacturing process causes a work hardening of the material. This increases the wear resistance qualities of our steel. Easy to integrate The maximum lengths for a single piece of rail is 3 meter but should you require longer runs the rail can be supplied ready prepared for end to end connection. te: The normal method of fixation is by the use of countersunk screws. However, the rails are supplied undrilled as standard with fixing holes supplied only upon specific request. Each carrier has two drilled and tapped threads allowing fixing the sliding carrier. te: The diameter and position of fixing holes can not be modified on the carrier. Technical specifications / Mounting rules OA CAPACITY The load capacity quoted for each type of carrier is the maximum load for a single carrier mounted in its major axis. The loadings quoted are calculated with a large safety margin but the details of each application and use should also be considered to determine the final product selection. Fast cycle times and aggressive environments will reduce the maximum loads for each carrier. Mounting rail and carriers in their minor axis will also reduce the maximum safe loads. MOUNTING GUIEINES AN CONITIONS OF USE inear rails with recirculating ball bearing carriers are simple and robust products that will give you smooth and reliable travel. te: Mounting on an uneven surface or exposure to excessive heat, dirt or corrosive environments will cause wear within the ball tracks and reduce the lifespan of the slides. Contact us to select the rail best suited for your specific application. MOUNTING ON THE MAJOR AXIS / MOUNTING ON THE MINOR AXIS Mounting on the major axis is the ideal slide mounting. Ensuring mounting on the major axis will guarantee a better distribution of effort. With a mounting on the minor axis, the load capacity will be reduced (refer to the following pages). TRAVE The usual travel of the carrier is equal to the rail length minus a carrier length and the stop measurement, i.e. approximately 10 mm at each end. SPEE OF USE The maximum speed of use for Chambrelan telescopic rail is 0.5 m/s. EN STOP FOR TRANSPORTATION The products are delivered with transport end stops meant to prevent the carrier from coming out of its rail. They cannot be used as a permanent end stop extension. It is very important to allow the carriers to stop. The carrier is assembled by fixing together an upper and lower component. These components are held together by two threaded inserts. It is imperative that the end stops on the rail are equal or greater in height than the carrier itself. o not attempt to remove the carriers from the rails. Each carrier is fitted with ball bearings to suit the specific dimensions of its rail.
