Self Management Service Life Coaching Programme & Training for Frontline Staff Waverley Care Life Coaching Programme

Our Life Coaching Programme Seven weekly sessions (3.5 hours per week) Incentives food and travel Individuals are assessed (base line and impact) Independent Health Checks (4 wks post programme delivery) Supportive group environment (shared experiences) Expert participants (peers) Provides self-management skills and techniques Underpinned by CBT, life coaching and solution focussed principles Asset based approach

What the Programmes cover? Skills and techniques which allow participants to improve their physical, mental and emotional health Skills include: goal setting; action planning; problem solving and coping strategies Topics Include: Motivation and Change Disclosure and Relationships (Communication) Managing difficult emotions Coping with depression and fatigue Physical activity Nutrition and healthy eating Issues around medication and treatment Relaxation techniques Positive thinking Self sabotage / relapse prevention

Programme Benefits Raises confidence and self-esteem Help cope with difficult emotions such as anger, frustration and fear Explains origins of negative thinking / encourages positive thinking Helps cope with symptoms such as depression, fatigue and pain Encourages better health through healthy diet & lifestyle Helps make informed choices i.e. decisions about treatment Encourages problem solving and building upon strengths Increases motivation by encouraging realistic personal goals Tackles barriers to progress and enables change

Life Coaching Training for Frontline Staff What the Life Coaching Programme (LCP) training entails SQA credit rated: SCQF = Level 6 SCQF Credit =10 Time commitment: 2 day staff training in self management and life coaching techniques Observation and participation of 1LCP (with own clients) Supported organisation and co- delivery of 1 LCPs (with own clients) 3 half-day reflective practise sessions SQA Assessment: Completion of all parts of the training Learning log Reflective diary Direct observation Support: Ongoing as required Monitoring and evaluation/stats On going feedback
