The title of my PhD thesis is Micro-machined Silicon Solar Cells with Micro-optic Coupling Features on the Front Surface. I successfully completed the research study and was awarded a Ph.D in December 1998. 1985-1987 Joined Southampton University, UK, in September 1985 for an M.Sc. degree in Electronics (Communications Option). My M.Sc. thesis was on a portable Low Frequency Radio Beacon System suitable for use in the sea during a man overboard situation. I was awarded an MSc in Electronics in October 1987. 1979-1983 In September1979 I joined Kenyatta Univeristy College (then constituent college of Nairobi University) for a B.Ed (Science) degree, majoring in Physics and Maths and graduated with First Class Hons in 1983. Won a Mobil Oil award for being the best Physics student. 1976-1979 Joined Kenya Science Teachers College (KSTC), Nairobi, in May 1976 to train as an S1 science teacher, majoring in Maths and Physics. Achievements: Won prizes for being the top student in Maths/Physics class and I was offered admission at the university of Nairobi to pursue degree programme. 1972-1975 Secondary school education at Sigor secondary school Sat for the EACE examinations in 1975 and passed in Division I Top student in the class throughout the four years. 1

WORK EXPERIENCE June 2012 to date Professor of Physics. 2008 to 2012 Associate professor and Head of department Current Duties and Responsibilities I do conduct research in the fields of electronics, renewable energy, theoretical physics and material science. Current duties include teaching, supervision and examination of both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department. I have examined a good number of MSc andphd theses. Responsibilities that I hold in the department or school are: (a) Coordinate departmental activities such as course allocation, training, team building, university policy implementation, and assignment of duties to all staff. (b) Chair of departmental meetings, attend senate/college meetings and be a conduit of information between the departmental staff and higher authorities (c) Manage income generating unit in the department (d) Chairman for the Physics department, Graduate Studies Committee (e) Chair departmental appointments committee and curriculum review meetings. (f) Chief Examiner of Physics department.
