2 School of Engiineering Contact: The Dean, School of Engineering Moi University P.O. Box , Eldoret, Kenya Tel: (053) 43170; Fax (053) SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING In t r o d u c t i o n The School of Engineering has five departments namely: Chemical and Process Engineering, Civil and Structural Engineering, Electrical & Communications Engineering, Mechanical and Production Engineering and Manufacturing, Industrial and Textile Engineering. The School offers six undergraduate engineering degree programmes. All the engineering programs have integrated Privately Sponsored Student Programs (PSSP) with the Government Sponsored Students (GSSP). This gives consistence in student evaluation and offers equal opportunities in the training process for all the students in our School hence ensuring high quality of training. The School programs consist of coursework, laboratories, workshops, projects, Industrial attachments and industrial visits. These components have enabled the School to produce highly qualified engineers for the country. The School of Engineering is very much committed to training of staff at all levels starting from the academic up to the junior staff through staff development funds and scholarships. All the academic staff are appraised annually as part of our strategy to maintain high standards in teaching and research. Through local and international collaborations the School has acquired various training and research facilities. This has further improved the quality of our training and research output. Vision Our vision is to be an internationally recognized centre of excellence in Engineering and Technology. Mission To endeavor to build engineering capacity for national development and wealth creation through training of highly skilled manpower in engineering, research, consultancy and extension services Ac a d e m i c Pr o g r a m m e s Undergraduate degree programmes There are six undergraduate programmes in the School leading to the award of the degrees of Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in the following disciplines: Chemical and Process Engineering Civil and Structural Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering Mechanical and Production Engineering Industrial and Textile Engineering Postgraduate degree programmes. The School offers five Masters of Science (M.Sc.) two Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) and one Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree programmes: MSc. in Structural Engineering MSc. in Water Engineering MSc. in Chemical Engineering MSc. in Textile Engineering MSc. in Industrial Engineering MPhil. in Energy Studies MPhil. in Production Engineering DPhil. in Energy Studies 273
