STEP 01 Nortel Contivity VPN Client Installation The screen shots below may not be exactly what you see while installing the Contivity VPN Client on your PC. Different browsers and operating systems may cause some variations on a few screens. However, the installation will follow the same steps regardless of these differences. 1) Open up your web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, etc), and go to the Maricopa County FTP Site (please note that the address is case sensitive): ftp://ftp.maricopa.gov/get.from.maricopa/normal.downloads Figure 01a [NOTE: You may get one of the two screens when you go to the Maricopa County FTP site. Figure 02a looks like a pure text web page displaying a directory listing. Figure 03a 2) Click on VPN_Client_6_2_22.exe. [NOTE: If you happen to get the screen like on Figure 03a, you will need to double-click on the file.] 3) After you click on the file, you should receive a window similar to Figure 04a. Click on the Save button. 4) In the portion at the top that says Save in:, choose your Desktop to save the installation file (Figure 05a). Then click on the Save button. Figure 06a 5) After the installation file has finished downloading, you should receive a window similar to Figure 06a. Click on the Run button to continue. [NOTE: If you do not receive this screen, go to your Desktop and find the file that you just downloaded. The file should look something like Figure 07a. Double-click on the file.] Figure 07a Figure 08a 6) You may receive a security warning window after you try to start the installation, like in Figure 08a. Just proceed to the next step by clicking on the Run button. If you do not receive this window, please continue onto step 7. 7) You will come to a welcome screen when you start the installation. 8) The next window will be the License Agreement (Figure 10a). You must accept the License Agreement by clicking the Yes button. You will then come to the destination folder window (Figure 11a). From here, click on the Next button after choosing the destination folder for the installation. Figure 10a Figure 11a 9) At the next three windows (Figures 12a-14a), go ahead and click on the Next button to continue. After the third window, it will begin the installation process. After the installation finishes, you ll receive another window showing you the details of the Readme.txt file; click the Next button to continue (Figure 15a). 10) You should now see the window below (Figure 16a), which verifies that the installation has been successful. Make sure the Yes, I Want to Restart My Computer Now field is selected and then click on the Finish button. [NOTE: Please remember to save any documents that you have running before restarting your machine] Figure 16a 11) After the computer has rebooted, you may want to add a shortcut to the Nortel Contivity Client onto your Desktop. To do that, go to the Start Menu, then Programs, then go to a folder that says Nortel Networks and right-click on the Contivity VPN Client. A drop down menu will appear; scroll down to where it says Send To and click on Desktop (create shortcut) All of which can be seen in Figure 17a. Customer Support Center Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) STEP 02 Nortel Contivity VPN Client Configuration 1) Double click the Contivity VPN Client Icon. This will start up the Nortel Contivity VPN Client program which will allow you to connect into the county network. 2) When the client opens up, please insert the following information into the corresponding fields: Figure 01b Connection: MC_ISP Description: <<Leave blank>> Dial-up: (None) User Name: <<user name provided on front of activcard packet>> Password: <<Leave blank for the time being>> Save Password: <<Leave unchecked>> Destination: 156.42.16.202 Figure 02b 3) On the Menu Bar, click on Options. In the menu that drops down, click on Authentication Options. Figure 03b 4) In the Authentication Options Window, check Group Security Authentication. 5) Type radius in the Group ID Field. Also type radius in the Group Password Field. 6) Check Group Password Authentication under Group Authentication Options. 7) Click the OK button. 8) The VPN Client is now configured for ActivCard Authentication. Office of the Enterprise Technology (OET) STEP 03 - ActivCard PIN # Configuration Now that you have configured your Nortel Contivity VPN Client, you must configure your ActivCard with a Personal PIN number. This PIN number will allow you to generate an eight digit password which you will need each time you log into the County Network. Figure 01c 1. Press the Power ( / ) button one time. 2. The ENTER PIN display will appear. 3. Enter the Initial PIN # 1,2,5,4. Figure 02c 4. The NEW PIN display will appear. 5. Enter the four to eight digit PIN # of your choice. (Please remember your PIN) 6. Press the Power button one time. Figure 03c Figure 04c 7. The CONFIRM display will appear. 8. Re-enter the four to eight digit PIN# of your choice. 9. Press the Power button one time. 10. The COMPLETE screen will appear briefly, and then the screen will go blank. 11. Press the Power button one time. 12. Your first password will be generated and appear on the screen (Please write this number down as it will turn off in about 60 seconds. You will need this password to log into the county network.) [NOTE: If you have problems, please wait 60 seconds then try again. If you are unable to get your personal PIN # created and a password generated, call the OET Customer Support Center Monday Friday, 6:30AM 6:00PM at 602-506-4357.] Step 03 ActivCard PIN # Configuration Page C-1 of C-1
STEP 04 - Connecting to County Network 1) If it isn t already open, double click the Contivity VPN Client Icon. This will start up the Nortel Contivity VPN Client program which will allow you to connect into the county network. Figure 01d 2) If you have written down that 8-digit password that your ActivCard provided you when you initially setup your PIN number, then you can use that password for your first password to log into the County network. If you still have that password, please continue to step 4. Otherwise, please proceed to step 3. 3) Start up your ActivCard by pressing the Power ( / ) button. ENTER PIN should show up on the card. Type in your PIN number that you created and hit the Power button again. The 8-digit password will appear on the card. (NOTE: The password will appear for 60 seconds. If you do not type in the password into the Contivity VPN Client before the 60 seconds is up, start with step 3 again and generate a new password. After generating 6 passwords without successfully logging into the County Network, your account will become locked and you will need to contact the OCIO Customer Support Center at 602-506-HELP (4357) to have your card resynchronized.) 5) The Contivity VPN Client will now attempt to make a connection with the County s Network. You should initially see a window similar to Figure 05d. Figure 05d 6) After you have successfully connected to the County s network, you will receive a Security Banner message. Read through the policy and then click on the OK button. Figure 06d 7) After the Security Banner window, you will get a little window like in Figure 07d. You can choose whether or not you want this window to come up each time you log in. When you are connected to the County s Network, you will see a little Nortel Contivity VPN icon in your system tray (Figure 08d). 8) If you want to monitor your VPN connection, you can view the VPN Status window by right-clicking on the Nortel Contivity VPN icon in the system tray and selecting Status. If you want to disconnect from your VPN session, you can either right-click on the Nortel Contivity VPN icon in your system tray and select Disconnect Contivity VPN or go into the Status window and click the Disconnect button.
