Roar-ee s Cubs Camp Director Anne Marie Skylis Anne Marie Skylis is in her second year as the Director of Sports and Cubs Camps and is excited to spend a fourth summer at Cubs Camp. Prior to her involvement at Cubs Camp, she taught middle school science in Providence, Rhode Island, where she also received her teaching certificate in secondary science. While in Providence, she also coached middle school softball and ran science enrichment courses after school. She earned her B.A. from Columbia University, and during her time was extremely involved in the Athletics Department as an athlete and employee. Program: Cubs Camp is a day camp for children ages 6 through 12 located on Columbia University s historic Morningside Heights campus. The camp offers athletics, arts & crafts, and team-building games in a collegiate setting over 9 weekly sessions. Bagnoli comes to Columbia after 23 years at the University of Pennsylvania, where he totaled a 148-80 overall record and 112-49 record in the Ivy League. His Penn teams won nine Ivy League Championships, including six undefeated conference marks and three perfect seasons. Between 2009-2012, Penn won three of four Ivy League titles outright a feat which had not been accomplished since 1977-80, but Bagnoli has done twice since 2000. He is the only coach in Ivy League history to win back-toback undefeated Ivy League titles and he has done so three separate times. During his tenure at Penn, Bagnoli built winning records against all seven Ivy League teams. He has coached more than 186 All-Ivy League players, including seven first-team All-Americans, four NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winners, two Ivy League Rookie of the Year, five Asa A. Bushnell Cup winners as the Ivy League s Most Valuable Player, three players drafted to the National Football League and 14 NFL free agents. Prior to his time at Penn, Bagnoli was the head coach of Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. where he amassed an 86-19 overall record in 10 seasons. Rich Mueller s Lions Golf Camp Director Rich Mueller begins his tenth season as the Head Men s golf coach at Columbia University and his 15th year as a head coach. In his tenure, he has been responsible for five Ivy League Championships, three individual Ivy League Champions, five NCAA post-season appearances, 22 All-Ivy League Golfers, 12 GCAA Academic-All Americans, and seven Academic All-Ivy League student-athletes.. In addition to coaching, Kittleman Jackson is chairing the selections for the upcoming World Cup cycle. Kittleman Jackson was previously the assistant coach at The University of Pennsylvania, where she helped the Quakers to four consecutive Ivy League Women s Lacrosse Championships and two appearances in the NCAA Women s Lacrosse Final Four. A four-year letter winner in lacrosse and soccer at Union College in New York, Kittleman Jackson earned first-team UCAA honors as a senior. Smith s fourth year leading Columbia proved to be one of the most successful seasons in Columbia history. After a three game run in the CIT postseason, the Lions ended the 2013-2014 season with 21 wins: the most since the 1968 Ivy League Championship. In his four years, Smith has led the Lions to the three highest RPI finishes in the history of the program. Prior to Columbia, Smith spent 18 years as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level, including nine seasons as the associate head men s basketball coach at St. Mary s College (Ca.) of the West Coast Conference (WCC). In 2009-2010, Smith helped coach the Gaels to a 28-6 finish and reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division I Men s Basketball Tournament. He holds a master s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of San Diego, where he began his coaching career. Lions Volleyball Camp Director Brie Katz After spending nine years working with the Columbia volleyball program in a multitude of roles, Brie Katz was promoted to Head Coach in January of 2014. She spent the previous three seasons as the Lions Associate Head Coach, helping the 2012 squad to Columbia s best Ivy finish in history, and prior to that she was an assistant coach for six seasons. As recruiting coordinator for the Lions, Katz secured a nationally ranked class in 2009, which included Megan Gaughn, Columbia s first player to reach the 1000 kill-1000 dig mark and earn a unanimous vote for first-team All-Ivy. During her first season on the bench in 2014, the Lions went 8-15 overall and tied for sixth in the Ivy League with a 4-10 mark against Ancient Eight opponents. She helped Columbia secure the program s first victory over Penn at The Palestra and coached Bailey Springer to second-team All-Ivy League honors. Senior libero Charlee Dyroff broke into 4th place on Columbia s all-time dig list, and sophomore setter Jen Petrovich broke into 5th place on the all-time assist list.. Katz was a four-year letterwinner at Hofstra University, setting the team to the conference tournament all four years, winning the championship and advancing to the NCAA tournament twice. During her career she was named first team All-Conference, first team All-Tournament, Academic first team All-District, and American East Setter of the Year. In her senior season she was honored by the National Jewish Athletic Hall of Fame as an outstanding female athlete. Katz graduated cum laude from Hofstra in 2003 with a degree in business administration and finance. Katz is a graduate of the NCAA Women s Coaches Academy, and she earned her master s in health education at Columbia s Teacher s College in 2007. Katz resides in Manhattan. During his four years the men s team s record was 82-30 and women s 96-16. In 2014 the men s team won a share of the Ivy Title finishing the season 27-3. Columbia s Men and Women s Team both won the 2015 Ivy League Championships where Aufrichtig received an Ivy League Co- Coach of the year award. Michael is the Chairman for the New York Athletic Club Fencing Program from 2007 to present. During that time the NYAC has won 14 Individual and 16 team National Championships, fielded 35 USA world team members, 11 Olympians, capturing two bronze one silver and one gold World Team medals and one Bronze Olympic team medal. Michael is currently on the USA Fencing Board of Directors, was the 2012 USA Olympic Fencing Coach for Modern Pentathalon and served as the 2009 USA Women s Épée World Team Coach.. Lions Swim Camp Jen Teague Softball Camp Director Jennifer Teague Jennifer Teague was named the third Columbia softball coach in program history in July of 2014. Prior to Columbia, she was an assistant coach at Michigan State for the 2013-14 season and spent five years as the head coach at the University of Buffalo. Program: The goal of Jen Teague Softball Camps is for each camper to have fun while learning the basic fundamentals of softball through drills and competition. Each participant will be taught all aspects of the game, including throwing, fielding, hitting, and base running. Each camper will have a chance to learn the specifics of infield and outfield play from members of the Columbia University coaching staff Girls Graduating in 2016-2020 Dates: June 15-16 Cost: $380/week Director Gustavo Leal Former Saluki swimmer, Gustavo Leal is in his seventh season as an assistant coach at Columbia. Prior to working with the Columbia men s swimming and diving teams, Leal spent seven seasons as an assistant to his former head coach, Rick Walker, at Southern Illinois University. Program: Lions Swim Camp is a developmental camp designed to help swimmers improve their technique and skills in all four strokes. It will focus on a specific stroke each day, including starts, breakouts, turns and finishes. The camp is devoted to swimmers that can swim all four competitive strokes ages 8-18. Boretti has led the Lions to four Gehrig Division titles, three Ivy League championships, a number of wins over major programs and the first NCAA tournament victory in program history. In his ninth year at the helm, Boretti led Columbia to its most successful season in program history in 2014. A program-record 15-game win streak helped the Lions amass 29 wins, the most ever. Columbia once again captured the Gehrig Division, shutting out Penn in a one-game playoff, 4-0, and then swept Dartmouth for the second straight season in the Ivy League Championship Series to claim the program s 12th conference title and third with Boretti as head coach. The conference title punched Columbia s ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season, traveling this year to Coral Gables, Florida to compete on the national stage. Two of Boretti s players in the last seven years have been Ivy League Player of the Year, two have been named Pitcher of the Year and three have been named Rookie of the Year. In 2014, Columbia had 11 players selected to All-Ivy League teams, bringing the total of players to receive conference recognition under Boretti s leadership to 59, including 21 first team selections. Over the course of the last three years, four of Boretti s players have been drafted by Major League clubs and another has signed as a free agent. These MLB teams include the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York Yankees, and Seattle Mariners.. Boretti was inducted into Davidson s Hall of Fame in January, 2010 as one of the Wildcat s best hitters and catchers. While attending Davidson, he earned two All-Southern Conference first-team honors, and still remains as the only Davidson player to be named to the All- SoCon Tournament team. Program: At the Brett Boretti Baseball Camp, the focus is on teaching fundamental baseball and having fun. The emphasis is on playing baseball with energy, enthusiasm and effort while learning the game. The day is filled with competitions for prizes, and team games. In just her second year with the Lions, she has already taken major steps in the revitalization of the women s basketball program. In her first stint as a head coach, Glance led the Illinois State Redbirds to an overall record of 67-35 in three seasons at the helm. She was recognized as the Maggie Dixon Division I Rookie Coach of the Year award in 2011 and the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Basketball Coach of the Year. Coach Glance also served as the recruiting coordinator for University of Tennessee Head Coach, Pat Summitt. During the 2009-2010 season, The Lady Vols finished 32-3 and won the SEC Tournament Championship. Prior to holding this position, Coach Glance spent 15 years at North Carolina State working for the revered Kay Yow. During her tenure at NC State, Glance became known as one of the top recruiters in the country, while helping the Wolfpack achieve 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and a trip to the Final Four. Coach Glance has the distinction of being the only person to have had the wonderful opportunity to work with both legendary coaches, Pat Summitt and Kay Yow. Day Camp is designed for players of all skill levels. It focuses on the development of fundamental basketball skills and the improvement of overall basketball knowledge. A five-year veteran of Major League Soccer, he was ranked as one of the nation s Top Assistant Coaches by College Soccer News while helping guide Boston College to the ACC regular-season and tournament titles, and the NCAA Tournament s top seed. As a player and coach he has been a part of three NCAA national championships and helped produce 15 All-Americans. Kevin earned his bachelor s degree in liberal studies from Southern Connecticut State University in 1992. He also holds a USSF National A Coaching License. Director: Tracy Bartholomew Director Tracey Bartholomew just completed her inaugural 2014 season as the Head Women s Soccer Coach at Columbia University. She helped guide the team to the lowest goals-against average (.60) in the history of the program, which ranked them 12th in the NCAA for allowing only 11 goals. From 2000-2013, she helped guide the LIU Brooklyn team to three NEC Championships and NCAA s in ( 12, 11, 06), and won the NEC regular season in ( 10, 08, 06). She played at the University of Rochester winning four UAA titles & NCAA tournament appearances. Her coaching career began at Colgate University, helping earn 5 Patriot League titles and 4 NCAA Bids.. Program: Now in its 20th Year, The NYC Soccer Academy is committed to training players between the ages of 6-18 in the technical, tactical and functional aspects of soccer. Players will be exposed to technical training to improve their ability on the field. Players will also experience competitive game situations that will help develop and improve the skill and confidence required to succeed at every level.
