1 PEACHTREE CONFERENCE CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS (Rev. 2001) ARTICLE I -NAME Section I -The name of this organization shall be the Peachtree Conference. ARTICLE II - PURPOSE Section I - The purpose of this conference is to strengthen the educational aims and the program of activities which are held in common by members of the conference, to formulate and maintain policies that will safeguard the educational values of interscholastic competition, to cultivate the high ideals of sportsmanship, to develop and direct a program which will promote, protect, and conserve the health and physical welfare of all participants, and to promote uniformity of standards in all interscholastic competition. ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP Section I - Only associate members of the South Carolina High School League may become members of the conference. Section II - Application for membership in this conference by a non-member school shall be made in writing to the executive committee of the conference. The executive committee shall make a recommendation to the conference. Section lll - No member school may be voted out without the entire conference unanimously voting to do so. (voted on March 2001)

2 ARTICLE IV - OFFICERS Section I - The officers of this conference shall be a President, a Vice-President, and a Secretary/Treasurer. Section II - The office of the President, Vice-President, and the Secretary/Treasurer shall be held by any coach, principal, or superintendent of a member school. At least one office should be held by an administrator. Section III - Should a vacancy occur in the office of the president in the interim between annual meetings, the Vice-President shall succeed him.should a vacancy occur in the other offices, the President shall appoint a successor. Section IV - The officers of the conference shall be elected annually at the Spring meeting of the conference held in March.

3 ARTICLE V - EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE Section I - The executive committee shall consist of the officers of the conference and two members who shall be elected at the annual meeting. A school will have only one voting member on the executive committee. Section II - The executive committee shall have general supervision of the affairs of the conference deciding all questions and performing all duties not provided for in the conference constitution. The committee will decide all appeals, and the ruling of this committee will be final. Section III - The calling of the meeting of the Executive committee shall be left to the discretion of the President or a simple majority of the Executive committee. ARTICLE VI - MEETINGS Section I - The conference shall hold regular meetings each year, date to be set by the President. Section II - The annual meeting shall be held in March. The election of officers shall take place at this meeting. Section III - Special meetings for special purposes may be called by the President. ARTICLE VII - CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS

4 Section I - The conference shall sponsor, and through its proper constitute committees, completely control any and all championships where conference members take part. Championships shall be held in any activity where more than half the members of the conference vote for it. To be eligible for championship in any sport, each member must play all schools fielding a team in that sport. Section IA - In Football all tie games must be played within the conference. Schools will use the South Carolina sudden death method of playing off football ties. In case of a tie between two schools at the end of the regular season, the school that won during the regular season shall be declared the champion. In the event that three or more schools are tied, they will be declared co-or trichampions. Section IAa - FORFEITURES CLAUSE - Any member school having to forfeit a football game to another member school shall compensate the opposition $ (adopted at the spring 1994 meeting.) Section IAb - All football games in the Peachtree Conference shall be scheduled to begin at a time no later than 5:00 P.M. (adopted Spring 1994) Section IB - In Basketball, the conference championship will be decided by regular season competition. In case of a tie between two schools at the end of the regular season, the school that won during the regular season shall be declared the champion. If the schools split, both teams shall be declared the conference champion. In the event that three or more schools are tied, all will be declared champions. There will be a conference tournament. Teams shall be seeded according to won-loss record in the conference regular season. In case of a tie between two conference schools for seeding purposes, the team that won both games during regular season shall be seeded higher. In case of a split in games or if the teams did not play a flip of the coin will decide the position. The basketball committee and the conference president are responsible for all decisions concerning the conference basketball tournament. If there should be a three way tie in basketball standings at the end of the regular

5 season, the records of the teams in head - to- head competition will be used to break the tie. Example: Teams A, B, and C all tied for a position. In head - to - head competition: Team A had a 2-2 record in the games against B and C. Team B had a 3-1 record in the games against A and C. Team C had a 1-3 record in the games against A and B. The final standings would be : (in order) Team B ; Team A; Team C The Basketball tournament will consist of a single elimination tournament. The conference basketball tournament will be hosted each year by a conference team starting in alphabetical order. After disbursements, (refer to Article XIV - Section II ) the remainder of the gate money collected will be sent to the conference secretary/treasurer. All monies taken in and disbursed should be receipted. The original receipts should be sent to the secretary/treasurer. Each school should retain a copy of all receipts. First round tournament games will be played at the higher seeded school. Semifinal and final games will be played at the school hosting the tournament that year. (adopted 1994)

6 Section IBa - An adult must operate the clock and work the book in games. (adopted spring 1994) Section IC - In Volleyball, the conference champion will be decided by regular season competition. In case of identical records between two schools at the end of the regular season, the school that won during the regular season in head - to - head competition shall be declared champion. If the schools split, both teams will be declared the conference champions. In the event that three or more schools are tied, all will be declared champions. There will be a conference tournament. Teams shall be seeded according to won - loss record in the conference regular season. In case of a tie between two conference schools for seeding purposes, the team that won both games during regular season shall be seeded higher. In case of a split in games or if the teams did not play, a flip of the coin will decide the position. The volleyball committee and the conference president are responsible for all decisions concerning the conference volleyball tournament. If there should be a three way tie in volleyball standings at the end of the regular season, the records of the teams in head - to - head competition will be used to break the tie. 7 Team B; Team A; and Team C. The Volleyball Tournament will consist of a first round single elimination series and a losers bracket for third place during the semi-final round. The conference volleyball tournament will be hosted each year by a conference team starting in alphabetical order. After disbursements, (refer to Article XIV - Section II) the remainder of gate money collected will be sent to the conference secretary/treasurer. All monies taken in and disbursed should be receipted. The original receipts should be sent to the secretary/treasurer. Each school should retain a copy of all receipts. Section ID - Any conference team which fails to book an official for a home match automatically forfeits the match to all opposing teams. If an official is booked and fails to show, the game will be made up at a later time. (adopted May 1992) Section IDa- If a school does not take in enough money to cover disbursements the secretary/treasurer should be notified of the deficit amount. The school will be reimbursed from the conference account. Section IE - When all conference disbursements for salary, awards, tournaments, and trophies are paid out, conference members will be given a copy of the transactions. In the case of a deficit, the deficit amount will be made up equally by the participating schools. Section II - Committees of the conference shall be composed of not more than three members each. The president shall appoint all committee members. The committees shall be as follows:

8 Nominating Football Basketball Publicity Hospitality Volleyball Section III - Awards - Minor league size trophies will be standardized by conference members. Football - Conference champion and runner-up regular season 7th grade football champion (voted on March 2001) Basketball - Conference champion and runner-up regular season. Tournament champion and runner-up Volleyball - Conference champion and runner-up regular season. Tournament champion and runner-up Third place in the tournament. Section IV - Awards other than designated conference trophies as stated in the constitution, shall be the responsibility of the individual conference members. ARTICLE IX - ELIGIBILITY Section I - Any student participating in activities of this conference must be eligible under the eligibility rules of the South Carolina High School League. All South Carolina High School League rules apply to conference schools. Each school is to send to the South Carolina High School League the required documents for each sport.

9 ARTICLE X - MEMBERSHIP Section I - The membership fee is $200/school. This membership fee will also be used to take care of meal expenses incurred at all meetings. (adopted March 2007) Section II - Any member school going to another conference shall receive a proportionate share of the conference treasury as of June 30 of the year they leave. Any school coming into the conference shall pay an amount equal to the money in the conference for each school as of June 30 prior to the school year they are coming into the conference. ARTICLE XI - VOTING Section I - Each member school shall have one vote for all balloting at the annual meeting and for all other meetings of the conference. Section II - Fifty-one percent of the membership shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

10 ARTICLE XII - AMENDMENTS Section I - Proposed amendments shall be acted upon in the annual meeting, and a two-third majority of the member schools present shall be required for adoption. Section II - Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to the president at least fifteen days prior to the annual meeting. Section III - Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to member schools at least ten days prior to the annual meeting. ARTICLE XIV - DISBURSEMENTS Section I - The secretary/treasurer of the conference shall be paid the sum of $ per year as a salary for this job. (adopted April 1997) Section II - The president of the conference shall be paid $ per year as a salary for this job. Section III - The Basketball tournament director shall be paid $ as a salary for this job. The Volleyball tournament director shall be paid $ salary. Section IV - Tournament Disbursements: Official clock operator - $ 10.00/ game Official Scorebook keeper - $ 10.00/ game

11 Gate collections - $ 10.00/ game for one gate keeper Police Security - Approximately $ 17.00/ game Hospitality Room Officials

12 ARTICLE XV - ALL CONFERENCE TEAMS Section I - In Football, an all conference team will be chosen by the coaches of the respective schools. The team will consist of 37 players chosen in the following manner: First Place Team - 8 players of choice Second Place Team - 7 players of choice Third Place Team - 6 players of choice Fourth Place Team - 5 players of choice Fifth Place Team - 4 players of choice Sixth Place Team - 3 players of choice Seventh Place Team - 2 players of choice Eighth & Ninth Place Teams - 1 player of choice Section II - In Basketball, an all-conference team will be chosen by the coaches of the respective schools. The team will consist of 16 players chosen in the following manner: First Place Team - 3 players of choice Second Place Team - 2 players of choice Third Place Team - 2 players of choice Fourth Place Team -2 players of choice Fifth Place Team - 2 players of choice Sixth Place Team - 2 players of choice Seventh Place Team - 1 player of choice Eighth & Ninth Place Teams - 1 player of choice

13 Section III - In Volleyball, an all-conference team will be chosen by the coaches of the respective schools. The team will consist of 16 players chosen in the same manner as basketball. Article XVI - VOLLEYBALL Section I - If all the regular conference member schools do not have volleyball teams, a non-conference school may join the conference for just volleyball. Section II - When playing Volleyball tri-matches, the home team will play the first and the last matches. The first visiting team to arrive will play the first match against the home team and then they will play the other visiting team. ARTICLE XVIII - ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE Section I - An academic all-conference team will be named for all students participating on a conference team and maintaining a 3.0 grade point ratio. Any awards given for this are the responsibility of the individual schools.

14 ARTICLE XIX - REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULES Section I - In Football, each team will play all the other teams in the conference one time each season. The schedule will be decided at the annual meeting every other year with the interim year remaining the same but with home sites switched. Section II - In Basketball, if there are eight teams in the conference, each team will play all the other teams twice, once at each site. If there are nine teams, then the conference will divide into two divisions before Christmas and play each team in their division one time. After the Christmas break, the conference will rejoin and each team will play all the other teams one time. These games after Christmas will be used for tournament purposes. Section III - In Volleyball, each team will play every other team in the conference twice. These games will be played in tri-matches rotating the home sites each year. 15 The host team is the first number in the column. Tri Matches will be the best two out of three games. Dual Matches will be the best 3 out of 5 games. The host team will play matches one and three. The second number will be the team to play matches 1 and 2. All matches will begin at 4:30 unless coaches decide to change. Home team is responsible for calling in scores to the paper ext 42 Adult line judges, scorekeeper, and book keeper provided by host. Number Team 1
