McNamee Deputy Associate Athletic Director George Mason Fairfax, VA QUALIFICATIONS Thirty years of experience as an educator, coach and senior level administrator at the NCAA Division I level. Directly responsible for the competitive oversight of 20 intercollegiate sports. Sport accomplishments include 2006 Men s Final Four appearance along with winning the 1996 NCAA Men s Indoor Track and Field Championship. George Mason has produced 117 NCAA post season appearances in 13 sports. Extensive experience in university, conference and NCAA administrative committee appointments. Experience includes NCAA and CAA sport committee chairmanship, as well as, Board Directorship appointments to USA Swimming and the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Over 14 years of NCAA Division I head coaching experience in the sport of swimming. Athletes competed in the following competitions: NCAA Division I Championships-1988, 1989, 1990, 1991; Olympic Games-1988; U.S. Olympic Trials-1988; Pan American Games-1986; numerous U.S. National Championships. 2 Head Men s Swimming Coach, St. Bonaventure SUMMARY George Mason : As the Deputy Associate Athletic Director for Intercollegiate Sports: Implemented the complete unit review and restructuring of athletic department. The plan was to reorganize in total, from budget procedures to review and prioritization of sports. Special attention was paid to compliance/equity with all pertinent government agencies. Responsible for total oversight and operations of 20 NCAA sponsored sports. Oversight includes competitive planning and strategies required to meet the expectations of our departments stated goals and competitive objectives. Competitive analyses and summaries of our CAA conference partners have been drafted every five years since Initiated and coordinated sport specific fundraising efforts and promoting greater involvement of coaches and athletes with Executive Director of our Patriot Club. Ultimate goal was to diminish the scholarship deficit and establish a more inclusive and collaborative approach to friend/fundraising. Total sport specific fundraising efforts exceeded $750,000 for the fiscal year. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a balanced budget while creating a model for fiscal accountability in a decentralized university business operation. Represented George Mason at all levels of the NCAA and the Colonial Athletic Association from competition and championship review to Athletic Directors meetings. Serve as the Athletic Department s liaison to the s Judicial Affairs Office. A proactive and open line of communication/dialogue between the Dean of Student s Office and the Athletic Department has been a top priority for the past twelve years. This relationship has created a very efficient and effective network (communicative and database) between Judicial Affairs, Housing and Resident Life, GMU and Fairfax Police and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
3 Established a relative social issues series for staff and athletes that has included seminars on diversity, internet usage, gambling, drug/supplement use and decision-making. St. Bonaventure : As the Senior Associate Athletic Director: Implemented a plan to reorganize the budgeting, purchasing, and fiscal control and procedures of the Athletic Department. Maintained a balanced budget and created fiscal accountability. Responsible for assigned oversight and operation of 14 NCAA sponsored sports. Managed solid fiscal growth through aggressive marketing and fundraising plan. Oversight of Basketball Club and corporate sponsorship which resulted in a regional ticket outlet sponsorship deal with the McDonald s Corporation, as well as profitable relations with USAir, PepsiCo and NYNEX Corporation. Represented the at all levels of the Atlantic 10 Conference from Directors meetings to championship review. Responsible for oversight of the owned golf course. Study and presentations spanned a 16-month period. HPER Coaching Curriculum Committee Assigned to help implement a coaching certification program with curriculum content worthy of academic accreditation. St. Bonaventure : Administrators Affairs Committee Presidential appointment to review policies and benefits ranging from administrators benefits and salaries to job descriptions and performance evaluations. Hall of Fame Committee Appointed to review and recommend nominations for Presidential approval to the Athletic Hall of Fame. Restructuring Committee Represented Athletics in the review and planned changes of the s governance structure. Budget, Finance and Planning Committee Represented Athletics in issues regarding the budget planning process. President s Advisory Council One of 14 selected members of the President s on-campus council comprised of faculty, staff and administrative appointments.
