2 PLAYING FOR HOUSTON EXPRESS SOCCER CLUB Two Ways to Play: Competitive and Recreational The Houston Express Program Houston Express focuses on a higher level of development and competition for boys and girls ages U8 and up. Younger players are part of the Academy Program that bridges recreational and competitive play. Full competitive play begins for U11 and older players. COMPETITIVE PLAY INFORMATION: ACADEMY U8 U10 Proprietary curriculum developed and taught by HESC Professionally Licensed Coaching Staff Twice-weekly training sessions led by HESC Coaching Staff 8v8 game format (7v7 for U8/U9) Semi-annual player evaluations determine team placements Rosters no more than 12 players deep epix in-house league on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings Games on Sunday afternoons within the Player Development Friendlies League 2-4 tournaments per year houstonx.org/play/academy Meet HESC Ready to Join the Club? COMPETITIVE U11+ Player evaluations determine team placements HESC teams compete regionally, statewide, nationally and internationally HESC teams travel outside of the country annually to train and play, most frequently to Latin America and Europe HESC teams participate in the US Club Soccer National Premier League (NPL), Southern Regional Premier League (RPL), Premier League West (PLW), State Classic League (SCL), Eastern District Division One Association (EDDOA) and the Houston Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) Our teams have won numerous state and regional championships and have participated in National Championships houstonx.org/play/competitive

3 SPECIALTY PROGRAMS The Express Recreational Program in West University Express Recreational offers fun, stress-free soccer for boys and girls ages U4-U12. Games are against other Express Rec teams, and standings are not kept. Starting at U8, players can remain in West U Rec or move to the competitive Houston Express program. In age groups U9-U12, scores are kept. The Express Rec program accepts players of all ability levels from all Houston neighborhoods. EXPRESS RECREATIONAL U4 U12 All games and training sessions are held at HESC fields U4-U5 teams have one weekly group training session that is led by an Express Rec Coach U6+ teams have two weekly group training sessions: one session is led by an Express Rec Coach and the other is led by a team parent U5-U12 teams play one game per weekend and may have games on Friday nights Rules, ball size and game length vary by age group REC Swoosh Identification Program for U7 advanced players by invitation only houstonx.org/recreational/about FINANCIAL AID The HESC Reliant Energy Power Program helps qualified players cover all or a portion of HESC s required training fee. CAMPS Express Camps ACADEMY CAMP Incoming U8 and current U9 and U10 boys and girls Academy players develop core ball skills and shooting, dribbling, receiving and passing techniques. KICKS CAMP Indoor summer camp at offsite facility focuses on speed of play, technical work, ball mastery and small sided games. PRESEASON CAMPS Build speed, agility and coordination and learn technical and tactical aspects to prepare for season. TEAM FIRST ACADEMY CAMP (bi-annual, girls only) Play alongside legends Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly and Tish Venturini. Develop as an individual player within the context of a sport that requires a disciplined unit to perform unselfishly. COLLEGE PREP CAMP Prepare for the physical and mental pressures of the college game with a strenuous program from HESC Coaching Staff. Recreational Program Camps REC PREP CAMP Show up ahead of the curve after this crash course on fundamentals. WINTER BREAK CAMP Get out of the house and on the field for a few hours to keep your game and fitness level sharp. REC SUMMER PROGRAM Develop skills, play exciting games and build friendships. Exercises and games build confidence and teach fundamentals. Develop at your own pace with HESC Coaching Staff. Emphasis is on fun and learning. EXPRESS PREP CAMP U5-U7 Two-week camp for players interested in moving to the Express Academy program at U8. HESC Coaching Staff will use this camp to identify Rec Swoosh and Express Academy candidates. houstonx.org/camps OFFSEASON PROGRAM We introduced Houston s first offseason program in 2014 and had over 320 participants from clubs all over the city. 36 sessions: June August Evening sessions: 6:30-8:00 pm and Saturdays 8:30-10:00 am SPEED & AGILITY TRAINING Provided by West U Fitness Focus: quick footwork, change of direction, lateral movement and leading with the dominant and non-dominant leg. Coaches will also incorporate ACL Injury prevention drills and emphasize proper technique during all of the exercises. TOURNAMENTS NRG Power Cup Super Bowl Weekend, join 200 other teams from Houston, Dallas, Austin, Louisiana and San Antonio in the quest for the Power Cup Woodsoc Finally, a soccer event that rocks! HESC Identifies and Develops Elite Talent Since our founding in 1978, HESC has been dedicated to being a force in competitive soccer and we know our success will ultimately be measured by how many players reach the highest levels of competition. We re very proud that our athletes have moved on to play Division I and Division II collegiate soccer. We ve also placed a few members on U.S. youth and foreign national teams and numerous members on Olympic Development Program state Our Facilities Are Top-Notch and regional teams. HESC has some of the best fields in Texas, including nine fully-lit, plush fields To accomplish all this, our coaches use a development system that primes and three futsal courts. Below is a list of fields/locations for both Express and players mentally and physically for success. Recreational programs: On our competitive teams, our engaging coaches teach technical and tactical SOUTH CAMPUS FIRST PRESBYTERIAN development to prepare them for intercollegiate soccer programs. At our Stella Link Houston, South Freeway (HWY 288) College Showcase, parents learn about the recruitment process and college Houston, coaches run evaluation sessions exclusively for HESC players.
