Skills for All If you meet certain eligibility criteria, the South Australian Government is giving you the opportunity to access subsidised training from an approved training provider of your choice. This means some or all of your tuition fees could be paid for by the Government, depending on the course that you choose. This initiative starts in July 2012. Student centred funding model All course offered by OPDS are listed OPDS is a Skills for All provider VET- fee help will be available for Diploma level programs There will be differential subsidy for all levels of programs
Eligibility who can apply? From July 2012, you are eligible for a government funded training place if you either live or work in South Australia, and you are: an Australian or New Zealand citizen; a permanent Australian resident; or the holder of a state sponsored visa on a pathway to permanent residency. You also need to be one of the following: aged 16 years or over and not enrolled in school; or enrolled in school and undertaking SACE and wanting to complete a Certificate III pathway; or enrolled in school and undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship. The government funded training available to you will depend on your employment status and your highest level of qualification when you enrol.
How much will training cost? From 2 July 2012, many courses will be fee-free. If you re eligible for a Skills for All training place, you will pay no course fees at a Skills for All Training Provider for: nationally recognised certificate I and II level courses accredited courses to improve reading, writing, numbers and computer skills courses determined to be priorities for the State. Fee-free courses are all shown on the subsidised training list. Skills for All Training Providers (including TAFE SA) may charge course fees for certificate III, IV, diploma and advanced diploma courses. The fees must be within a minimum and maximum range set by the government. You will need to check course fees directly with your Skills for All Training provider. Skills for All Training Providers must tell students about all fees and publish their fee policies.
