The Cardinals are coming off a 42-7 loss to #16 Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. Thomas Cook, Jr., finished with 130 yards on 19 carries for an average of 6.8 yards per rush. Quarterback Nick West was 17-of- 34 for 153 yards through the air. AnthonyMullins led the Cardinals with five catches for 63 yards, while Cook, Jr., had three receptions for 20 yards. Zach Haynes led the Jewell defense with six tackles and a sack, while Le Andre Nebbit and Isaac Dozier Jr. each registered an interception for Jewell. Saint Joseph s was shut out by Alderson Broaddus University 19-0 on Saturday. The Pumas defeated the Cardinals 49-7 last season on Novmeber 8 in Liberty, Mo. The Puma s lead the series between the two teams 4-1 with the Cardinals only win coming in 2011 by a score of 19-8. Game 3 at Saint Joseph s Coaching Staff HEAD COACH SHAWN WEIGEL Shawn Weigel enters his first season as head coach of the Cardinals after serving several years as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. In addition to his nine seasons at Jewell, Weigel s college coaching experience has included stints as an assistant coach at West Texas A&M University, Austin College and Colorado School of Mines. He also served as the head coach for the Seinajoki Crocodiles in the European Football League. A native of McCook, Neb., Weigel holds bachelor s degrees in sociology, sports management and physical education from Doane College. The captain of the Doane football team, he was also an All-America hurdler as a member of the track team.
