Certificate in Business Administration [Level 4] 2016 For New Zealand Citizens & Permanent Residents The Certificate in Business Administration Level 4 is a qualification consisting of unit standards totaling 120 credits with two embedded national certificates and delivered over 41 weeks. The student may select a programme with either an accounting or computer option and on successful completion will be eligible for the National Certificate in Business Administration & Computing Level 3 and the National Certificate in Business Administration Level 4. Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: Standard Entry Applicants less than 20 years old: Applicants will require a minimum of 10 credits NCEA Level 1 from any literacy sub field or domain, and a minimum of 10 credits NCEA Level 1 from any numeracy sub field or domain. For the literacy standard, these skills can be assessed in English or te reo Māori. For the numeracy standard these skills can be assessed in maths or pāngarau (Māori immersion maths). For applicants without these NCEA credits or equivalent: NQF credits of an equivalent or higher level which demonstrate achievement in these discipline areas including the National Certificate in Business Administration Level 2, National Certificate in Computing Level 2 or EIT Certificate in Business Level 3. Applicants 20 years old or more: Students over 20 are classified as mature students. Mature students with life skills and/or work experience who do not meet the stated requirements but have the equivalent ability and experience are encouraged to apply. Entry to subsequent study is conditional on success at the entry level. English language entry requirement If english is not your first language you are required to have attained an acceptable level of English language fluency. This may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, including successful study in English, approved scores on IELTS (5.5 Academic) tests, or completion of accepted international equivalents. Entry with credit If students have already completed one or more unit standards in this programme they may be able to use them for this qualification. Class times 8.30-3.00pm Monday to Friday. Individual Study Hours 10 hours per credit. Facilities In the Middleton building (M Block) on the Tairāwhiti campus, there are five networked computer laboratories with various student stations (from 12 to 23) in each. The rooms are environmentally controlled, with data show equipment in each room. There is also a Hardware and Software lab both of which cater for 17 students in a block. Assessments The programme will be assessed in line with NZQA requirements. Programme Information On successful completion of this programme, students will have skills and knowledge that may include, but is not limited to the following: Use a range of interpersonal and communication skills Employ a broad knowledge of administrative and clerical functions Meetings management including participation, conducting and minutes recording Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
