CDTC Permit Funding CDTC Permit Funding Requirements: Live or work in CA Employed or not employed Work with infant, toddlers, preschoolers, or school age
CDTC Permit Funding Reimburse Fingerprint processing fees (if applicable) Pay processing fee to CTC for the following permit levels Assistant (first-time and renewal) Associate Teacher (first-time, upgrade, and renewal) Teacher (first-time, upgrade, and renewal) Reimbursement of online renewal fees for Teacher Permit only Upgrades from one of the three lower level permits to Master Teacher, Site Supervisor or Program Director
CDTC Role in Processing Provides a Permit Funding application Go directly to the CDTC and CTC websites for current forms Provides technical assistance Audits permit application for completeness Pays processing fee to CTC Reimburses Live Scan processing fee for eligible first-time applicants
Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) CTC no longer prints permit documents Include your e-mail on the 41-4 or 41- REN CTC will e-mail applicant when permit application is received by CTC and again when permit is issued Follow the status of the permit at CTC from their web site at www.ctc.ca.gov. Select Online Services for Educators and follow prompts.
Unit Requirements for Child Development Permits Must be semester units (quarter unit equals 2/3 of semester unit) Must be obtained from regionally accredited institutions Note: ECE/Child Development units cannot be used for General Education unit requirements per Title 5.

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Core Units Child Growth & Development Child/Family & Community Programs/Curriculum Must complete a minimum of 3 semester units in each core area
General Education (GE) Core Units English/Language Arts Humanities Social Science Math/Science Minimum total of 16 semester units Courses must be degree applicable
Required Experience Minimum of 3 hours a day to count as a day of experience Volunteer experience counts toward the experience requirement Family Child Care (licensed) experience must be verified by 3 parents Student teaching in Kindergarten is acceptable supervised field experience in an ECE setting
Assistant Permit Option 1 6 units of ECE No days of experience Option 2 Regional Occupation Program (ROP)/ Home Economic Related Occupation (HERO)
Associate Teacher Permit Option 1 12 ECE units - minimum of three semester units from each of the 3 core areas 50 days of experience within the last 2 years
Associate Teacher Permit Option 2 Days of experience not required Child Development Associate(CDA) Credential CDA Credential only equals 9 ECE units towards Teacher Permit
Associate Teacher Renewal Initial Associate Teacher Permit valid for 5 years One time renewal only Must complete additional 15 units towards the Teacher level permit Remedial units do not count towards renewal No extension if renewal requirement not met
Teacher Permit Option 1 24 ECE units including core units 16 GE units 175 days of experience within the last 4 years
Teacher Permit Option 2 Days of experience not required AA or higher in ECE or related field with 3 units of supervised field experience in an ECE/CD setting or student teaching in Kindergarten
Master Teacher Permit Option 1 24 ECE units - including core units 6 specialization units (one area of focused study) 2 adult supervision units 16 GE units 350 days of experience
Master Teacher Permit Option 2 Days of experience not required BA or higher (does not have to be in ECE/CD) 12 ECE units do not have to be core units 3 units supervised field experience in a ECE/CD setting or student teaching in Kindergarten
Site Supervisor Permit Option 1 AA or 60 units, including the following 24 ECE units including core units Plus 6 administration units Plus 2 adult supervision units 16 GE units 350 days of experience including 100 days of supervising
Site Supervisor Permit Option 2 Days of experience not required BA or higher (does not have to be in ECE/CD) 12 ECE units do not have to be core units 3 units supervised field experience in an ECE/CD setting or student teaching in Kindergarten
Site Supervisor Permit Option 3 Days of experience not required Administrative Credential 12 ECE units do not have to be core units 3 units supervised field experience in an ECE/CD setting or student teaching in Kindergarten
Site Supervisor Permit Option 4 Days of experience not required Valid Multiple Subject Credential 12 ECE units do not have to be core units 3 units supervised field experience in an ECE/CD setting or student teaching in Kindergarten
Program Director Permit Option 1 BA or higher (does not have to be in ECE/CD) 24 ECE units - including core units Plus 6 administration units Plus 2 adult supervision units 1 year of site supervisor experience

CDTC Live Scan (LS) Reimbursement CDTC will only reimburse for the initial Child Development Permit Live Scan Live Scan for an expired document at the Commission on Teacher Credentialing will not be reimbursed Live Scan reimbursements submitted with a first-time permit application when a Live Scan was not required will not be reimbursed
CDTC LS Reimbursement Must include original receipt and current reimbursement form. If applicant is given a copy of the 41-LS as a receipt, they must have the Live Scan operator sign and date the copy.

Professional Growth for Renewal All professional growth activities should be pre-approved and completed under the guidance of a Professional Growth Advisor Refer to the Child Development Professional Growth Manual on the CTC web site at www.ctc.ca.gov
Teacher Online Renewal Child Development Teacher Permit should be renewed online on the CTC web site at www.ctc.ca.gov After selecting Online Services for Educators, the applicant needs to follow the Technical Tips to allow pop-ups from the CTC site Processing time is 3-5 business days
