Welcome to the TransPerfect Translations Secure File Transfer Website What is Secure FTP? SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) is an added layer of security provided to our clients. SFTP requires an encrypted connection to the server be maintained while files are uploading or downloading. Utilizing SFTP vs. FTP allows us to ensure all of TransPerfect Translations client data is handled in a safe and secure fashion. In addition, all data stored on TransPerfect Translations Secure File Transfer servers are encrypted utilizing a FIPS 140-2 validated 256-AES file system. This encrypting has been validated by the United States National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Canada's Communications Security Establishment (CSE). FIPS 140-2 is the new US federal standard for encryption. Uploading/Downloading files to the SFTP can be accomplished utilizing most mainstream internet browsers or popular FTP clients. How do I connect to the new sites? At the current time we have two SFTP sites available. One site is to be used for TransPerfect Translations and another for Translations.com customers. They can be accessed by using the following urls: - https://sftp1.transperfect.com - https://sftp1.translations.com Using SFTP NOTE: Using Microsoft s internal FTP method does not support secure file transfer and will no longer work with the new server. Please follow the procedure outlined below to move files to and from the SFTP site. IMPORTANT!!! Connecting to the SFTP Server may require some settings be modified on a browser for connectivity. This is particularly true for Internet Browsers which are several years old. Most new Browsers default settings should have no problems connecting. Due to the various Internet Browsers and restrictions placed on a workstation by various IT Departments it is impossible to ensure every situation will be trouble free. Please see the browser issue section at the end of this document if you have issues connecting to the server.

Using the SFTP Server The following section outlines connecting to the SFTP site utilizing the three most commonly used internet browsers. These internet browsers include Microsoft s Internet Explorer, Mozilla s Firefox and Google Chrome. Uploading and downloading files There are three methods from the web interface where you can upload and download files. The methods are outlined below 1. ActiveX upload/download wizard This is the preferred method for Internet Explorer. This method uses an ActiveX application to assist in moving files and should be used when using Internet Explorer. This method is ONLY supported by Internet Explorer. 2. JAVA upload/download wizard This method is best to use when using an alternative browser such as Firefox or Chrome. This method can also be used by Internet Explorer if preferred. 3. Upload and Download from Browser This method does not utilize any wizard and is best used in a situation where a computer is locked down and unable to install either the active wizard or java wizard. This is not the recommended method due to the speed and some of the limitations. This method can upload or download one folder or file at a time. Internet Explorer method 1. Connect to https://sftp1.transperfect.com or https://sftp1.translations.com Choose your language preferences. 2

2. Enter your User Id and Password. 3. Upon successful log in, you will be presented with the following home page. The active Upload/Download wizard will be automatically selected as the default. Click Install the Upload/Download wizard (ActiveX). NOTE: IF Using Internet Explorer 8 and above you may receive a pop up indicating the Upload/Download wizard was NOT Installed on your computer. Please see steps 4 though 6 for more information. 3

4. You will be presented with an application installation pop up. You may or may not be presented with a security warning. If you are given the security warning, click Install. 5. Upon a successful installation you will be given a confirmation notification. 4

6. You may have received the following notification indicating the install had not completed. Click OK. This is expected as on Internet Explorer 8 and above download confirmation is required by default and you must approve the download before installation. 7. Look to the top of the screen, and right click the top link indicating, This website wants to install the following add-on. Select the option to Install this add-on for ALL Users on this computer. 8. The installation has been completed. Please see the upload/download section for more information. 5

Mozilla Firefox method NOTE: Most browsers with the exception of IE will use the Java based upload/download wizard. To use the Java wizard you must have Java installed prior to installing the Upload/Download wizard. At the time of this document, the minimum required java version is 1.5.0.x the maximum required java version is 1.6.0.23. NOTE: Apples browser Safari will work the same as Mozilla Firefox. 1. Log onto the SFTP site as outlined in the Microsoft Internet Explorer section. Click Install the Upload/Download Wizard (JAVA). This will be the default selection. 2. The installation will begin and shortly thereafter a security warning will appear. Click Run to begin the installation wizard. 6

3. A notification pop up indicating the install was a success will appear. Click OK. NOTE: You may see the following pop up indicating the wizard has not downloaded. This warning may appear dependent upon your internet connection and speed. Click OK to continue waiting. If after 5 minutes have passed, please confirm java is installed and the version meets the requirements. If still an issue, please call the Help Desk. NOTE: This install will only be run on the first time the workstation is connected to the web site. If you see an error similar to the one below, it may be that the wizard did not load it may be because you had installed it on one workstation and logged into another workstation without it installed. Your settings follow you from one computer to another. 7

Account Options There are several options you can set at any time with your SFTP account. To see those options click My Account in the upper right-hand portion of your homepage. - Edit notification Settings - Edit your Language - Edit Your Display settings - Turn on or off your upload/download wizard 1. Notification Settings. There are several notification options that can be configured. Depending upon your account, you may or may not need to be notified when a file uploads or downloads, when a password expires or when a file is removed. Please contact the Help Desk for more info. The email associated to the account is usually associated to the person whom requested the account. Here you may add as many notification addresses as you wish. 2. Language Settings. Language settings can be changed in this field. Currently the following languages are supported: a. English(default) b. French c. German d. Spanish 8

3. Edit Display Settings. The Default displays 100 Files/folders per page. The minimum files or folders to be displayed are 5. The maximum allowed to display is 500. 4. Upload/Download Wizard Status. You may enable or disable the Upload/Download wizards here. You also have the option to turn them off for the current session, or permanently. NOTE: Please ensure to click the appropriate change button after each change made. How to upload utilizing the Upload/Download Wizards After the wizard installs, you will be returned back to your home folder. You cannot create folders under home you must create folders or upload files under your home folder. i.e. /TRANSPERFECT/(your account). If this is a new account, you will not see any files or folders. This location is considered your Home folder. It is considered best practices to create subfolders under your home folder so that files can be more easily managed. For this example we will create a folder for upload and another for downloads. 1. To create a new folder, click the Add Folder icon located to the left of the screen. 9

2. Name the folder. And click the Add Folder button. 3. Above the Add new Folder option a new link appears. Click the open link to go directly to your new folder. NOTE: You will notice a folder Icon and a Path directly next to the icon. To move between folders easily you may click each one individually. You also may click the Parent folder link at any time to return to your home folder. 10

4. To upload a file or folder to the folder you are currently in, click the click HERE to Launch the Upload/Download Wizard link. The TransPerfect upload wizard appears. Choose either Add File to upload an individual file or choose Add Folder to upload an entire folder. 5. Locate the folder which you want to upload. Click OK 11

6. Select if you would like to include subfolders or the folders located in the specific directory. 7. The upload files/folders window will re-appear. At this time you may add additional files, folders or remove files or folders. 12

8. The upload option window will appear. At this time you may upload each file individually or you may upload the files as one zip file. You may also enter any notes at this time. 9. The upload wizard copies the file to the server. Transfer has been completed. 13

How to upload using the native Browser NOTE: A caveat of using this method is that only one file can be uploaded at a time. You can zip all of your files into one file before uploading. 1. Select the folder to which you want to upload a file to. Click the browse button and locate the file which you would like to upload to the server. Click Open. 2. The file has been uploaded and a confirmation will appear at the top of the screen. 14

How to download utilizing the Upload/Download Wizards 1. Navigate to either the directory which contains your files or to the files. You may also download folders directly from your home folder. Select the files and folders by placing a checkmark next to the file or folder name. Click the download button. 2. Choose a folder on your local computer to copy the folder to. Click OK. NOTE: While the downloading is occurring you will not be able to navigate away or open another tab. You can open a NEW internet browsing window if necessary. NOTE: The speed of the download will vary on current internet connection status, speed and size of the folders and files selected for download. Results and speed will vary and cannot be accurately predicted. 15 16

3. The download begins. A confirmation window will appear after the file transfer has completed. FTP Client software The TransPerfect Translations Secure File Transfer Server will work with various publicly available FTP clients. It is recommended to use an FTP Client if there are issues with using a browser to download a file or folder. This is particularly prevalent where internet connections are unreliable or in situation where clients cannot install the upload/download client software. The following will outline the procedure for connecting to the FTP server utilizing Filezilla. NOTE: The TransPerfect SFTP server does not accept FTP connections. You must use an SFTP connection. For example ftp://sftp1.transperfect.com will NOT be permitted to connect and will fail. sftp://sftp1.transperfect.com will connect. NOTE: If you need to specify a port when using your FTP client, please specify port 22.

Creating a Filezilla Quick Session - Launch the FTP client. Enter the following information: - HOST: sftp://sftp1.transperfect.com - Username: The username given to you by the helpdesk - Password: The password given to you by the helpdesk - Port: 22 (usually not required) 1. Click QuickConnect. 2. Check the option to trust this host, add this key to the cache. Click OK to continue. 17

4. The ftp client is now connected. Displayed on the left window pane is your computer. Displayed to the right are the SFTP Server and your home folder. 5. To upload files to the server, locate the specific files or folders you wish to upload on the left side of the screen. On the right side, choose the directory to which the files will be uploaded to. 18

6. Select the files from your computer and drag and drop them over to the server. 7. You can now see the files uploaded to the server 19

8. We will reverse the process to download files from the server to computer. Create a new directory called download on your computer. 9. Select the files on the server you wish to download to your computer. Right click, and select download. NOTE: In the download example you can also drag and drop. There are generally two methods used to upload or download files with the ftp client. Drag and drop or use the Filezilla's upload/download feature. 20

Disconnecting from the server After completing your file transfers, you can close the application or disconnect to from this session if a new session is needed to another folder. The following outlines how to create custom connections. 1. Click File and Site Manager to open up the site manager application. Click New Site. 21

2. Name the site and enter the following information. HOST: sftp1.transperfect.com Port: 22 Server Type: SFTP SSH File Transfer Protocol Logon type: Normal USER: User name Password: Password Click connect to ensure your connection works correctly.
