Manager, Loan Closing and Asset Management San Francisco, California (Full-time position) December 2014 The Northern California Community Loan Fund (NCCLF) was founded in 1987 to create a socially responsible investment vehicle to provide capital and expertise to revitalize low-income communities. NCCLF has grown into a $50 million intermediary nonprofit organization that provides loans, New Markets Tax Credits, consulting, and technical assistance to groups that develop low-income housing, community facilities, essential health and human services, mission-driven enterprises, and solutions to the critical issues facing the nonprofit sector. For more information on our programs and services, please visit our website at www.ncclf.org. Position Summary The position will play a leading role in coordinating the loan closing and asset management activities for a highly successful community development financial institution. Responsibilities will include documenting and closing of commercial real estate, affordable housing, New Markets Tax Credit, and working capital loans and lines of credit to nonprofit organizations and other mission-driven enterprises serving low-income communities in Northern California. While these responsibilities work will be carried out in coordination with a team of Loan Associates, the Manager is expected to have primary responsibility for the most complex transactions. The Manager will also be responsible for coordinating Lending Department operations and monitoring functions to ensure compliance with terms and conditions of all loans. This will include a major role in addressing loan workouts, including restructurings and the management of defaulted loans and related collateral. The position requires an extensive background in commercial real estate lending operations, monitoring and asset management. The ideal candidate is someone who understands the unique needs of the nonprofit sector, particularly human service providers and affordable housing developers. The ideal candidate will also have a paralegal certificate or equivalent experience. The candidate must be a self-starter, have the demonstrated ability to accurately and efficiently work on several tasks simultaneously and have superior written and verbal communication skills. Finally, the candidate should enjoy working in an active and expanding nonprofit and thrive in a friendly, cooperative, and fast-paced environment. Background NCCLF s Revolving Loan Fund and NMTC program provide term loans,

construction, bridge, gap and subordinate financing, including working capital and lines of credit to meet the capital needs of nonprofits throughout the 46 northernmost counties of California. Our loans are used to develop affordable housing; for the purchase, rehabilitation or construction of community facilities, including healthcare clinics, child care centers, charter schools and nonprofit office and program space; and economic development projects that make a difference in the lives of those who need help the most. Since making our first loan in 1988, we have closed $112 million in loans to nonprofits; financing 331 projects valued in excess of $1.2 billion with minimal losses to date. Our $80 million of NMTC deployment to date has also leveraged over $145 million in project financing. Our loan portfolio currently includes approximately 50 borrowers with aggregate outstanding balances of over $30 million. Responsibilities Loan Documentation and Closing (40%) Manage closing and funding process in coordination with Lending Team, borrower, outside legal counsel, title officers and related parties, with lead responsibility for most complex closings. Document complex commercial real estate loan transactions (including construction loans and New Markets Tax Credit loans) from commitment to funding in a timely manner. Order, review and/o prepare (as appropriate) title reports, escrow instructions, loan documents, appraisals, surveys, environmental reports, property condition reports, insurance and other exhibits ensuring no losses as a result of improper closing procedures. Ensure compliance with all loan requirements, commitment and approval conditions. Anticipate and effectively manage closing problems by identifying and recommending solutions to meet the needs of NCCLF and our borrowers. In coordination with Loan Associates, effectively communicate with borrowers and serve as one of the primary points of contact for loan closing and post-closing. Ensure files are kept organized, maintaining an audit trail of all closing steps. Lending Operations and Asset Management (40%) Monitor compliance with credit policies covering risk management and participate in quarterly monitoring and loan loss reserve meetings. Maintain working knowledge of loan policies and protocols. In coordination with Loan Associates, review and process construction loan draw requests. Develop and implement policies to monitor and maintain collateral

of secured loans, including but not limited to insurance and property tax compliance, appraisal and reserve requirements, etc. Effectively track, analyze, communicate, and make recommendations to address loan delinquencies. Lead discussions and negotiations to amend or restructure problem loans, working closely with Lending Team to facilitate approval and documentation of loan modifications. Working with the Director of Lending, other senior management, and outside counsel, oversee exercise of loan remedies against collateral and other legal actions against defaulted borrowers, including asset management and disposition of real estate owned. Work with Loan Associates to maintain post-closing paper and electronic files, Lending Department operations and activity reports, and loan portfolio management system and related databases. Special Projects (20%) Assist or lead ad-hoc projects as assigned that may include product development, occasional underwriting, industry research, operational efficiency, compliance and reporting systems protocol, funding applications or policy analysis. Minimum Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics, accounting or related field.
