3 SALARY POLICY: The salary identified for a specific vacancy is either Step 1 of the assigned salary lane or the minimum of the assigned salary range. This position conducts in-depth technical research to find solutions to technical problems, identifies and resolves hardware and software problems, documenting activity according to Information Technology directives, including providing follow-up to ensure end-user satisfaction. This position reports to the Division Administrator for Information Technology. Functions as a team leader by assuming additional responsibility for and demonstrating expertise for a particular process area Performs Technical Assistance Team (TAT) related tasks in response to HEAT (call logging system) tickets and other routine TAT assigned duties that provide end-user support on all hardware and software Researches, investigates, diagnoses, and resolves hardware and software problems (isolating network vs. standard desktop issues) Deploys, installs, upgrades, and reconfigures hardware and software, as needed Appropriately opens, updates, and closes HEAT tickets Updates Information Technology tracking system and other sources according to divisional policy Supports Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) migration project with specific responsibilities that include; create, test, and update Thin apps; delete Thinstall directory; provision/deploy Thin Clients and monitors to agency users Diagnoses and isolates network trouble issues versus those attributable only to VDI environment Evaluates new hardware and software and makes recommendations for technical problems and is involved in long-term technology planning Participates in and conducts training as requested, including training TAT team members and agency end users. Assists other groups with technology in workshops, meetings and conferences Continues to develop knowledge and familiarity with supported equipment and services by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, industry related conferences, and personal research to stay current on information technology products, vendors, techniques, and procedures applicable to TAT and VDI activities. 6 Qualifications Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Network Systems, Information Technology or other specific IT or computer field, or an Associate s Degree in one of the listed fields plus six months recent (within past 12 months) full-time employment in a diagnostic/repair/refurbish/deployment position that demonstrates increasing responsibility and experience in hardware and software support (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION) A minimum of 40 hours in course work related to wiring/cabling/connection topology, personal computers, desktop operating systems (Microsoft Windows/Linux/Unix or any combination), networking and LAN/WAN protocols and standards, network and systems security, problemsolving, or skills for technical learning, or any other coursework specifically related to performance of TAT diagnostic/repair/installation duties Recent experience (within past 12 months) with direct, hands-on performance of diagnostic/repair/refurbish/deployment tasks for personal computers, printers, scanners, laptops, Thin Clients, Fat Clients, mobile devices, and/or other peripheral equipment Experience in laptop encryption; experience in both a standard desktop network environment and virtual environment that includes diagnosing and isolating trouble issues attributable to each, and the planning, design, testing, installation or connection of peripherals in each environment Experience troubleshooting performance issues related to hardware and software such as Windows and Microsoft Office, security, LAN connectivity, networking, and Internet communications Experience in installation of operating systems and migration from one operating system to another required Advanced knowledge of information technology concepts, principles, theories and the functions of computer systems Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical issues and descriptions into user-friendly terminology; ability to write clear, concise, and thorough methods, process, and procedure documentation Demonstrated understanding of virtualization concepts, solutions, and practices; pervious vendor or employer based training on VMWare Thin App/Thin Client deployment and/or exact on-the-job training and experience in both a standard desktop and virtualized environment Requires working closely with infrastructure team in completion of virtualization and other installation tasks Excellent organizational skills with the ability to analyze data logically Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with team members, management staff, and agency personnel at all hierarchy levels Ability to work independently on tickets and issues and participate cooperatively on group projects Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (SIMULATION INCLUDED IN INTERVIEW) Preferred: Experience in a large network environment Microsoft Certification 6

7 Position Vacancy: Industry/Technical Standards (Principal Consultant) Inventory#: 485 Location: Springfield Office Division: College and Career Readiness Monthly Salary: Lane 4 Minimum Salary $3,946 Closing Date: July 11, 2016 (#16-28) This position provides leadership and technical assistance to local education agencies and other entities to promote school reform and innovation in career and technical education. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and setting standards, including evaluating programs in family and consumer sciences. This position reports to the Division Administrator for College and Career Readiness. Administers grants and contracts, and develops Requests for Proposals Plans and coordinates professional development activities Provides leadership to plan, develop and implement quality instructional programs in family and consumer sciences with emphasis on integration and applications aligned with the new Illinois Learning Standards for Industry/Technical Standards Reviews and recommends approval status of Endorsement for Career and Technical Educator and Endorsement for Provisional Career and Technical Educator certificate applications in the program area Serves as state advisor to teacher associations and student organizations affiliated with family and consumer sciences Provides technical assistance and other support services to regional systems, administrative and instructional personnel in southwestern region of the state Monitors and evaluates career and technical education programs and grants through on-site visits and regular communication with clientele Assists in the development of grant applications and ensures compliance with state and federal rules and regulations, fiscal and programmatic practices Provides leadership and consultative services to local and regional personnel for the development and implementation of effective and innovative practices leading to school reform and improved student achievement Utilizes data collection for analysis and evaluation and provides assistance on implementing data-driven continuous improvement strategies Assists in the planning and implementation of in-service training sessions for regional systems, school and agency personnel and other audiences, as necessary Collaborates in the delivery of professional development associated with improvement initiatives to institutionalize effective change processes, curriculum innovations and student improvement efforts Initiates and maintains contact with external resources, business/industry and labor representatives and professional organizations related to assigned program areas in order to sustain and coordinate improved teaching and learning Serves as a liaison with university teacher education programs to communicate effective reform and restructuring practices. This position will coordinate monitoring programs with local education agencies, regional offices of education, and other sponsoring organizations for the purpose of determining fiscal and programmatic compliance with applicable federal and state rules and regulations, agency guidelines and the enhancement of the quality of the programs.
