Learn more about your digital box, remote control, and other services by tuning to Answers On Demand on Channel 963. No other program guide gives you this much control. Instead of simply allowing you to scroll up or down, your new Navigator works on a biaxial, or in FOUR directions, up/down AND right/left. So you can get to the channel you want faster. FIND CHANNELS Press the button on your remote control to access everything Digital TV has to offer, from what s on now to what s On Demand: Movies Sports Music Kids News And many more categories. SEARCH Navigator stores the titles of current and upcoming shows for up to 7 days. Press the button on your remote control to browse through current and upcoming shows. There are a number of ways you can search: Title (with keyboard search) On Demand Theme or category Rating NOTE: Navigator does not allow you to change the background guide color. *Requires a DVR box. DVR is an optional service available for an additional fee. **Caller ID on TV available with Digital TV and Home Phone service from Oceanic Time Warner Cable. 5

Button functions. 1. Move left, right, up or down. 2. Use the arrow keys to navigate through menus. 3. Press to make a choice. Keyboard Search Already know the name of the show you want to watch? Key in the name and Navigator will find it for you. 1. Press on your remote control to bring up the on-screen keyboard, then spell the show title using the,, and on your remote control. 2. Press choose highlighted letters. 3. When the title appears in the left column, use to switch from the keyboard to the title list. Use to highlight your program. Press to begin viewing, record, record a series or set a reminder. category search 1. Press on your remote control twice to access Category Search. 2. Use to highlight title, category or rating. 3. Use to highlight your programming choice and press. 4. A new menu may appear with other viewing options displayed horizontally across the bottom and a list displayed vertically. 5. Highlight the desired programming and press. BACK BUTTON Press the button on your remote control to cancel and return to previous menus. 6

Search by Day There are two ways to search by day, depending on your remote type: 1. Using your remote control, press the button. 2. Then press the number, 1 through 7, and. Number equals the amount of days you want to search ahead. For example, if you would like to move ahead two days, simply press the number 2 and then right arrow key. The Guide will show you the programs 2 days in the future. If your remote has a separate _ button you can use the instructions as previously mentioned, or the instructions below: 1. Using your remote control, press the button. + 2. Press + on the button to advance the guide 24 hours ahead. _ For example, if you would like to move ahead 2 days, simply press the + + on the button 2 times and the Guide will advance 2 days, etc. _ + Channel Banner Allows you to quickly access programming information while continuing to watch your current programming in a full screen. While watching a program on your full screen: Press one time to access the current program s title, start / end times and rating. Press a second time for a brief description of the program. Use the Navigational Arrows to access programming info for other channels and times. Aspect Ratio To modify aspect ratio settings using your remote: 1. Press once. You will notice that the Quick Settings option is highlighted at the bottom of the screen. 2. Press until High Definition is highlighted. 3. Press until Aspect Ratio is highlighted then press. 4. Highlight the option that best matches your TV (refer to TV manual) and press. 16x9 (Widescreen) 4x3 5. Press on your remote. 6. Press to return to your program. 7

Output Resolution To modify output resolution setting using your remote: 1. Press once. You will notice that the Quick Settings option is highlighted at the bottom of the screen.. 2. Press until High Definition is highlighted. 3. Press until Output Resolution is highlighted and press. 4. Highlight the option that best matches your TV (refer to TV manual) and press to add or remove setting reflected by dot. 5. Press. 6. Press to return to your program. Picture Size Tip You may try the steps below to keep your picture in full screen when switching between Analog and High Definition channels, which may be a better solution for your television. 1. Press once. You will notice Quick Settings option highlighted at the bottom of the screen. 2. Press until High Definition is highlighted. 3. Press until Aspect Ratio is highlighted then press. 4. Highlight the appropriate option for your television (4x3 or 16x9) and press. 5. Press once you have completed your selection. 6. Press until Output Resolution is highlighted and press. 7. Highlight the highest resolution supported by your television (check your TV s manual to confirm) and press so that a dot is shown next to that resolution, then ensure that all other resolutions are de-selected. 8. Press to accept the setting, then press to return to the menu. 9. Press until Picture Size is highlighted and press. 10. Highlight Stretch and press. 11. Press. 12. Press to return to the show in progress. Now, the picture size will automatically stretch to fill your screen regardless of the format of the selected program. 8

Parental Control You decide what your kids watch when you use the Parental Control feature to block programming. Choose from the following options: Content advisory (language, violence, etc.) Rating (TV-PG, TV-14, TV-MA, etc.) This also blocks the title of the program from the guide. Channel Time 1. Press on the remote control. 2. Scroll to PARENTAL CONTROL. 3. Highlight Rating Block and press. 4. Highlight each rating you want to block and press (a will appear next to the rating). Repeat the process until all desired ratings are selected. 5. Press to save settings. 6. Scroll up and highlight Title Block. Press to set status to ON. 7. Scroll to Turn On/Off and press. Enter or setup your PIN for Parental Control. 8. You will receive a message that Parental Control has been activated. Favorites Menu On selected box types, you also have the option to tune directly to each channel when using the button, or accessing a menu of your favorite channels to choose from. To select your preference: 1. Press, then scroll to highlight Favorite Channels. 2. Scroll to highlight Favorites Menu If OFF is displayed, the box will tune directly to each channel in sequence when using the. If ON is displayed, a menu of favorite channels will appear when pressing the. 3. Press to change your selection. 4. Press to return to your show in progress. Guide Filtering For added control, you may also filter the program guide to show only the channels that you want to see. 1. Press two times. 2. Use to highlight your choice: All Channels Favorites High Definition On Demand 3. Press to view the Program Guide showing only the channels that match your selection. 9

Menu bar The menu bars use color coding to remind you about the shows that mean the most to you. Purple: Programs that you set a reminder for. Red: Programs that are recording or are scheduled to record on your DVR.* Green: Movies and programs you have purchased. *Requires a DVR box. DVR is an optional service available for an additional fee. Settings The Settings Menu lets you personalize your viewing experience. You can customize your picture size, choose the right audio output for your sound system, set timers, Favorite Channels, Parental Controls, purchasing options and more. 1. Press to display the SETTINGS Menu. The QUICK SETTINGS Screen will appear. 2. Press to scroll through the Settings in the bar at the bottom of the screen. 3. As you scroll, each SETTING TITLE will appear in blue in the bar at the bottom of the screen. 4. Each Settings Option Menu will appear above the Settings Title on the left side of the screen. 5. Press the up/down arrows to scroll through the menu options for each Setting and to highlight the Option you want. 6. Press and follow the on-screen instructions. 10

May be located in the High Definition menu on selected box types. Purchase Options PPV Events On Demand Events Purchase PIN Start Over Miss the beginning of a show? If the show is Start Over enabled, a Start Over Menu will appear after turning to the channel. Just press to make the show start over from the beginning. You won t miss a minute, and you won t have to fill up your DVR. Activating Start Over while recording on a DVR may result in a loss of the recording in progress. Available on select shows from participating networks. Look Back Missed a show? With Look Back you can watch primetime shows that have aired within the last three days, even if you never recorded them, without having to remember to set your DVR. 1. Tune to the channel the show aired on. 2. When the More TV menu appears, press, scroll down to LOOK BACK and press. 3. Scroll down choose the show you want to watch and press once more. Enjoy your show. Available on select shows from participating networks. 11

Caller ID on TV See who s calling without missing a minute of your show. If you have Digital TV and Home Phone from Oceanic Time Warner Cable, you get this feature totally free. You can see incoming calls, or even review earlier missed calls all from the comfort of your couch. 1. Press on your remote control. 2. Scroll to Caller ID and press. 3. Highlight Set Up and press. 4. Prompt will appear with your current setting (OFF or ON). If OFF appears, press to turn Caller ID ON. If ON appears, press to turn Caller ID OFF. 5. Press. DVR and Navigator By linking DVR* with Navigator, you can find shows up to one week in advance and set them to record with the touch of a button. Record an entire series Now you never have to miss an episode of your favorite series. To record an upcoming series, find its title in the Program Guide. 1. Press on your remote control to search for your desired program. 2. Once your desired program is highlighted, press. 3. Scroll down to select the appropriate choice: Select Record Series to use the default settings (records all episodes, including repeat episodes). Select Record Series with Options to customize the recording according to your preferences (options include; New Episodes Only, Modified Start/End Times, and more). Once your choices have been made, press to save your scheduled recording. 12 * To receive all services, Digital TV, remote and lease of a DVR set-top box are required. Find Dvr show list Quickly access all of your previously recorded programming. 1. Press LIST on your remote control to get your recorded list. 2. Use along the bottom list to see shows listed by date, title or scheduled recordings, or to get the Series Manager or Recording Log. 3. Then, highlight a show from the left column and press. Recording Log Press LIST on your remote control. The Recording Log tells you why a show didn t record or was deleted, so you can manage your recording needs. Recording conflict resolution When a show doesn t record as planned, will appear next to the program in the upcoming show list. If the program is in conflict with other recordings you ve scheduled, you ll see this, and a series of options will appear on-screen to help resolve the problem easily. Controlling Live TV Anytime you tune to a live program, the DVR begins buffering the program that is, making a temporary recording of it, so you can: Pause the live program for up to one hour. Rewind the program up to the point when you tuned to the channel; then, jump back to the live program by pressing. Fast-Forward through the portion you have rewound. Instantly REPLAY the last eight seconds of TV anytime you want. Save the buffered program to the DVR by recording it press. For example, you are watching a program and the telephone rings, press to pause the program for up to 1 hour, and then press or or to resume watching, press. 13

Buffered Programs The channel buffer automatically buffers the last hour of the channel that you are watching and continues to buffer it until you: Watch the channel for longer than an hour. After an hour, the DVR removes the earlier minutes of the program from its buffer so that only the last hour is retained. Tune to another program. The buffer is cleared and starts fresh. Turn off the DVR. The buffer is cleared. Have the DVR record the program. When you press Record, the DVR records the portion of the live program it has buffered, and begins recording the rest of the live program as it is broadcast. Activate Start Over. The buffer is cleared until Start Over is inactivated by changing the channel, turning the box off, or going to LIVE mode. DVR Manager When you are away from home, DVR Manager allows you to search and record shows from your computer or smartphone. Your shows are ready to watch when you return home. Register for MyServices at www. twc.com/myservices to get all the conveniences of DVR Manager. Whole House DVR Whole House DVR gives you more to watch in more places throughout your home. You can start watching a show in one room and finish watching the show in another room. Or record a show in one room and watch it in up to four rooms at the same time. Or watch a recorded show while recording two HD shows. Or play one show in one room and a different show in another room. And you can record more with up to 75 hours of HD programming. 14

How to get more from your DVR PLAY Press on your remote control when accessing a recorded program. If the program recorded or buffered is already at normal speed, pressing it again will toggle between slow motion and normal speed. If the program recorded or buffered is paused or in FF or REW mode, pressing returns playback to normal speed. PAUSE Press to temporarily stop a live or recorded program. On live TV, pause will hold for up to an hour. After about 10 minutes, a screen saver will appear. RECORD To record a program you are currently watching, simply press the button. LIST To view a recorded program, press LIST. You may search your recorded programs by date, title or recently viewed programs. Once you have highlighted the program you wish to play, press. FAST-FORWARD AND REVERSE Your DVR includes four fast-forward/ rewind speeds. Press the or buttons up to four times to increase speed. Holding either button for 2 seconds skips programming forward or reverses 15 minutes at a time. LIVE When watching a recorded or buffered program, press to live TV. REPLAY To quickly rewind eight seconds, simply press the (This option is great when watching the big game!) to return button. This denotes that there is a conflict with other recordings you ve scheduled. A series of options will appear on-screen to help you resolve the issue easily. Indicates a program that is marked as Do Not Delete. Denotes that you are scheduled to record just a single episode of a show. Denotes that you are scheduled to record the series or entire season. This lets you know that a show did not record as planned. Access the Recording Log to find out why. HELPFUL HINT To search the guide by day, up to 7 days in advance, press the number of days forward you want to advance using the numeric keypad and then press the. Using Picture-In-Picture (PIP) Activate PIP on Your TV While watching a program on your DVR, press the dedicated PIP ON/OFF key to activate the PIP screen while in the main TV screen (also known as full-screen TV). To change the channel in the PIP screen, use the dedicated PIP CH + and CH - buttons (lower right area of the DVR remote). DVR functions work only on the program shown in the main TV screen. To pause or record the program in the PIP screen; first, SWAP it to the main TV screen. PIP cannot be activated while in the Program Guide; press EXIT to close the Program Guide. Audio will only be heard for the program shown in the main TV screen. Swap the Main TV and PIP Screens To swap the TV program that is in the PIP screen to the main TV screen, press the dedicated PIP SWAP button. Move the PIP Screen To move the PIP screen to a different corner of the main TV screen, press the dedicated PIP MOVE key. You can move the PIP screen to any of the four corners of the main TV screen. Free On Demand With Digital TV, you have access to all the On Demand Channels you could ever want. Most of it free of charge. And all of it ready to watch on your schedule. Watch your favorite shows, movies, news, sports and other events whenever you want. Choose from about 3,000 hours of free content each month, from Primetime to Kids programming. Here s all the free programming that you ll find On Demand: Movies Music Kids Programming Local Programming Sports & Fitness Lifestyle Primetime Shows Knowledge Entertainment HD Free 16 How to Access On Demand Channels Use your remote to view On Demand programs. 1. Select On Demand channel. 2. Use Navigational Arrows to highlight the program you want to watch. 3. Press to choose program. 4. Press again to start program.

Pay-Per-View (PPV) Use your remote to quickly order movies & other events. How to Order PPV Movies Access Pay-Per-View starting on Ch 701, and preview highlights on Ch 700. View the schedule of PPV Events using the GUIDE. To order, tune to the desired PPV Channel. The title, event time, & price will display. Press to order up to 15 minutes after the event has begun. Confirm your order. If the PPV PIN is enabled, enter your PIN to confirm your order. (Default PIN may be 1234 or 0000). If the PPV PIN is disabled, press to confirm your order. Movies On Demand Purchase and control movies (Pause, Rewind, and Fast-Forward) using your remote. The movie will begin immediately and can be viewed for up to 24 hours. To order, tune to channel 990 or 620 or tune to channel 1990 to order High Definition events. (HD TV & HD Cable Box required to order view events in High Definition). Use the Navigational Arrows to highlight your desired movie title. Press for a brief description, along with the rating, run time and price. Press to purchase the event. Remote Control Troubleshooting My remote doesn t respond when I press any buttons. Check to make sure the correct device mode is selected. Press the CBL button along the top row, then try your selection again. Try replacing the batteries. Ensure that nothing is blocking the sensor to the TV and/or digital box. On the front panel of the box, press POWER two times, to turn the box off, then on again. Then, press CH +, followed by CH on the box front panel and verify that the issue has been resolved. The volume buttons don t work. The remote needs to be programmed to your specific TV to control the volume on your TV. Find instructions on Channel 411 or online at remotecontrol.oceanic.com. Every couple of weeks, the box should also be rebooted to clear the memory. Ensure there is enough clearance around the digital TV box for air ventilation. How to Reboot the Digital TV Box On the front of the digital TV box, hold down POWER for 10 seconds, then let go. Or Unplug the AC power cord from the digital TV box for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait 2-5 minutes for the time to re-appear on the digital display of the digital TV box before turning the box ON again. I have snowy reception or a blue or black screen on my TV. Ensure that the TV set (not the digital TV box) is tuned to Ch 3 (Ch 4 on Maui). Ensure that the VCR is powered OFF or is on Ch 3 (Ch 4 on Maui). Check the wiring behind the digital TV box and TV and secure all connections. Verify that the TV s video source is set properly. Try each source by pressing the VIDEO, TV/VCR, SOURCE, or INPUT button on your TV. If an amplifier (booster) was installed, secure all connections; then unplug the amplifier s AC power cord, wait approximately 10 seconds before plugging the cord back in. I m not getting all of my channels on my digital TV box. Reboot the digital TV box by following the procedure above. If the problem persists, call Customer Care. Nothing happens when I turn on the TV. Verify that the television and digital TV box AC power cords are completely inserted into active electrical outlets. If the outlets are controlled by a wall switch, ensure the switch is ON. Ensure that the digital TV box is turned ON. Whole House DVR Troubleshooting I m experiencing poor video quality or audio quality on the Playback receiver. Call 643-2100. The Show List is missing on non-dvr Playback Receivers or missing titles within the Playback Receiver Show List. Check that the Playback Device is plugged in.
