About Hyperion Home When mutipe Hyperion products are instaed on the same computer, common interna and third-party components used by the products are instaed to a centra ocation, caed Hyperion Home. The Hyperion Home ocation is defined in the system environment variabe caed HYPERION_HOME. The Hyperion Enterprise instaer prompts you to define the ocation for Hyperion Home. The defaut ocation is C:\Hyperion. The instaer searches for the HYPERION_HOME environment variabe on the computer to which you are instaing. If the ocation has been previousy defined for another Hyperion product, the instaation uses that ocation and the Hyperion Home ocation cannot be changed through the instaer. If this is the first Hyperion instaation on the computer, and you have not aready specified the ocation for Hyperion Home, you can specify the ocation during instaation. Prior to instaing Enterprise, you must have Modify rights to the directory HYPERION_HOME Changing the Hyperion Home Location After Hyperion Home has been defined through any product instaation, you must run two separate migration utiities to change the Hyperion Home ocation. The first utiity moves the fies instaed in Hyperion Home to the new ocation, and the second utiity fixes a interna references to the od Hyperion Home ocation. Both utiities are provided with the Hyperion Enterprise instaation. ä To change the Hyperion Home ocation: 1 Launch the first utiity by executing the foowing fie from the current Hyperion Home ocation: Windows: HYPERION_HOME/common/utiities/HyperionHomeToo/1.0.0/bin/ run.exe The migration utiity is aunched. 2 Step through the screens, and when prompted, enter the new Hyperion Home ocation or cick Browse to navigate to the desired ocation. The average appication has between 10,000 and 20,000 entities. Entity maintenance performance was improved consideraby in Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, aowing a arger number of entities to be supported. 8 A custom function wi be avaiabe from CTS. 78 Converting Your Appication to Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000
Compatibiity of Earier Hyperion Enterprise SE and Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.1.1.000 Reeases There are seven major features that differ between Hyperion Enterprise SE and Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000: How intercompany eiminations are performed when substructures are used How the system equates accounts when writing formuas How the system cacuates formuas How intercompany transactions are entered How acquired and disposed dates are tracked Universa naming convention System oad behavior Performing Eiminations When Substructures are Used In Hyperion Enterprise SE, the system creates an intercompany subaccount for each subentity attached to an intercompany entity. The system eiminated this data at a eve above the substructure whie the vaue in the intercompany entity is consoidated up through the organization. In Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, the system does not create an intercompany subaccount for subentities that are attached to intercompany entities. The reason is that intercompany subaccounts are permitted as second-eve subaccounts and an additiona eve woud require that the system hande three eves of subaccounts. The system performs intercompany eiminations for the intercompany entity as a whoe, not by sub-entity detai. If you convert an appication that uses intercompany sub-entity accounts from an earier reease of Hyperion Enterprise SE, these intercompany subaccounts are not created for the subentities. A intercompany data is retained at the intercompany entity subaccount eve ony. Therefore, before you convert an appication that has intercompany subnames, you must compete the foowing tasks in the origina appication: 1. Create an intercompany name for each intercompany sub-name. 2. Extract the data from the origina intercompany subaccounts. 3. Load the data into the new intercompany subaccounts that you just created. 4. Remove the intercompany sub-names. Note: Before you change any settings in your origina appication to faciitate the conversion process, you shoud back up your appication and its data. Compatibiity of Earier Hyperion Enterprise SE and Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.1.1.000 Reeases 79
Assigning Formuas to Subaccounts by Equating Major Accounts In Hyperion Enterprise SE, you can assign the formuas created for one set of subaccounts to another set of subaccounts by equating the second major account to the first major account. For exampe, if you define formuas for subaccounts for ACCOUNT1 that you want to aso use for the ACCOUNT2 subaccounts, you can use this formua: #ACCOUNT2=#ACCOUNT1 In appications buit with Hyperion Enterprise SE, you can do this even if the sub-account tabes attached to the major accounts are different. For this to work correcty, the signature order of these subaccounts can never change. However, when you add or deete accounts, the signature order of the chart of accounts might change, which can produce unpredictabe and incorrect resuts. In Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, you can define your appication to use a unique signature for subaccounts that have the same ID. If you use unique sub-account signatures, assigning formuas by equating major accounts does not work. If you equate major accounts, the system dispays a warning when you check formuas and does not create formuas for the destination subaccounts. However, if you use shared sub-account signatures, the system creates formuas for the destination subaccounts that have the same ID as the source subaccounts. This occurs even if the IDs of the sub-account tabes attached to the two major accounts are different. If you want to use unique signatures in a Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 appication, you must write formuas for each sub-account that you want to create. Cacuating Formuas In Hyperion Enterprise SE, the system cacuates a range totaing functions (incuding TOT, DTO, DSU, SUB) that are defined in chart ogic (caed chart methods in Hyperion Enterprise) using the category-to-date vaues for a accounts, regardess of the data view for the category. A other formua functions cacuate according to the defaut view of the data category. In Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, the system cacuates a formuas defined in chart methods using the data view of the category. This can produce different resuts than in earier reeases if the appication contains periodic categories. The behavior was changed so that chart method formuas are cacuated more consistenty with the category data view definition. Entering Intercompany Transactions In Hyperion Enterprise SE, the system does not aow input into an intercompany entity s own intercompany sub-account. In Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, you can enter data into the intercompany entity s own intercompany sub-account. The system eiminates this baance as it woud any other intercompany baance. 80 Converting Your Appication to Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000
Tracking Acquired and Disposed Dates In Hyperion Enterprise SE, you can specify dates for the acquisition and disposa of a name in an organization. In Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, you can seect the Vary Organization by Category and Period appication setting to track changes in your organization over time. If any name in your origina appication uses acquired and disposed dates in the organization structure, you must seect the Vary Organization By Category and Period appication setting when you convert the appication to create the period-specific organization according to the acquired and disposed dates. For more information, see the Hyperion Enterprise Administrator s Guide. Caution! If you do not seect the Vary Organization by Category and Period setting when the appication is converted, a acquired and disposed date information is ost. Universa Naming Convention Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 stores fie names internay in Universa Naming Convention (UNC) format so that users can seect their own drive mappings. Supporting UNC paths aows an appication to work seamessy in a network environment. UNC paths aow ogica connections to network devices without the need to specificay reference a network drive etter. The system can ocate the network server and path with the UNC name even over a modem connection. The UNC describes network servers and share points on those servers. UNC names start with two backsashes (\\) foowed by the server name. A other fieds in the name are separated by a singe backsash. For exampe, \\USER1\C:\fiename.dat refers to the fiename.dat fie on the C drive on the USER1 computer. UNC is used in the Hyperion Enterprise Add Appication diaog box and in Load and Extract diaog boxes such as Load and Extract Appications, Load and Extract Journas, Load and Extract Formuas, Load and Extract Security, Load and Extract Shares, and Load and Extract Data. You can enter fie ocations in either UNC format or mapped drive notation. The system converts the mapped drive notation to UNC format. However, if you are creating an appication on your oca computer that you want other workstations to access, you must enter the UNC path, or specify a shared directory, rather than a drive-mapped path, as a path for the new appication. Compare the resuts to the same report run on the fina period in the Hyperion Enterprise SE appication with a view of YTD. The opening baances of the first period in your new appication shoud match your od cosing baances. This report wi be vaid ony if you have eft ownership at 100 percent for entities with data for categories that existed in the od appication. When you convert an appication from Hyperion Enterprise SE, reports and books are not automaticay converted. After you convert your appication, copy the report and book fies from your Hyperion Enterprise SE appication to the Report directory of the Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 appication. Recompie the report and book fies in Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 before running them. Note: If you converted from Hyperion Enterprise SE 1.8.2, you must obtain the Hyperion Enterprise 1.8.2 Report Conversion Utiity by contacting Cient Support prior to instaing Reease 6.5.1.1.000. This utiity is not incuded in the instaation media for Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000. It is important that you convert your reports and books prior to instaing Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000. You shoud aso consider this information after you compete the conversion: Hyperion Enterprise SE has ony consoidation ogic. Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 divides consoidation and transation ogic separatey. If there is transation ogic in the consoidation ogic in Hyperion Enterprise SE, then a ogic is paced under transation ogic in Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 and needs to be divided manuay. A DEF function in Hyperion Enterprise SE is automaticay converted to a custom function in Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000. When you convert a Hyperion Enterprise SE appication that contains a dynamic view account ist to Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, and you specify that the system not incude Detai, the converted appication contains subaccounts as we as major accounts. To avoid this, deseect first-eve and second-eve subaccounts, seect major accounts, and refresh the ist. If you do not seect Periodic Consoidation in the Hyperion Enterprise SE appication s setup options when you convert the appication, the appication s journa ocks wi not appear in Postconversion Tasks and Considerations 103
the converted appication. To work around this, unpost then repost the journa to reappy the journa ock. After converting a Hyperion Enterprise SE appication, the appication paths in the appication.ini fie are hard-coded. To keep the paths fexibe so that they are updated automaticay if you move the appication, manuay repace the path to the Data, Inbox, Outbox, and Report directories in the appication.ini using @APP. For exampe, change the ine: APP_DATA= E:\apps\Data to APP_DATA= @APP\Data. System Extract and Logic Conversion Utiities Use the System Extract and Logic conversion utiities if you want to redesign your appication to take advantage of the new Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 features and capabiities. This is the best method for converting your appication if you redesign your existing appication but sti want to maintain the common eements such as information in the system fie and ogic. For exampe, if you want to make use of the ownership features with Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000, you shoud use these conversion utiities. Appication Load Fie Conversion Considerations Before converting an appication from oad fies, consider the foowing information: You must convert system extract and oad ASCII fies and a ogic fies individuay. You must extract data and journas and oad them manuay into the converted appication. You do not need to convert data or journas before they are oaded into the converted appication. However, you can extract data and journas from ony one category at a time. You must consoidate after you convert the appication. When you extract data, the data fie shoud incude a journa companies and any other input entities. Depending on the appication ogic, some parent entities may have input accounts. You cannot oad ocked data. Before you oad journas into the converted appication, you must oad the data for the entities impacted by journas. Hyperion Enterprise aows posted journas to be oaded. If you oad journas first, the data does not oad to the impacted entities. Before you can oad auto-reversing journas into the converted appication, you must edit the journa oad fie using a text editor. To do this, open the oad fie in any text editor, change the identifier for auto-reversing journas from R for reguar journa to AR for autoreversing journa. You cannot extract security from earier reeases of Hyperion Enterprise; therefore, security eements cannot be converted uness you use the conversion wizard. If you convert your appication using oad and extract fies, you must rebuid a security eements. 104 Converting Your Appication to Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000
Converting System Extract and Load Fies Before you convert a system extract and oad fie, make sure that no account and account group in the fie have identica abes. For exampe, the fie cannot have an account group with the abe Income and an account with the abe Income. If you convert a fie with dupicate abes, Hyperion Enterprise writes an error message to the error og. If you find dupicate abes, Hyperion recommends adding characters to the end of the fie name, such as _GRP to the end of the account group abe or something that easiy aows you to identify the new abe. ä To convert a system extract or oad fie: 1 From the Start menu, seect Programs > Hyperion Soutions > Hyperion Enterprise > Conversion Utiities > System Extract Conversion from SE to 6.5.1.1.000. The Convert Hyperion Extract Fie diaog box is dispayed: 2 Enter the source and destination paths for the system fie in the Source fie and Destination fie text boxes. You can use the Browse buttons to navigate to the fies. 3 Cick Convert. 4 Take one of these actions: To convert another fie, repeat steps 2 and 3. To exit the utiity, seect Exit. 5 To create an appication that has organizations that vary by category and period, use a text editor to move the CATEGORY header and its information before the ENTITY header. For information about the format of the Ownership section for appications that have organizations that change over time, see asciifmt.xs, or ca your consutant. For more information about the Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 system fie syntax, see the Fie Formats appendix of the Hyperion Enterprise Administrator s Guide. System Extract and Logic Conversion Utiities 105
Loading Converted System Fies After converting the system fies, you must oad them into your new Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 appication. ä To oad converted system fies: 1 Create the new appication in Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000. Be sure to seect the correct appication caendar (.per) fie. To verify which appication caendar fie was used to buid your origina appication, open the Category modue in the appication, and highight the first empty row. The defaut month that appears in Start Period is the appication caendar fie used to create the appication. For exampe, if the month is January, the appication caendar fie is oadjan.per. If you used a custom oad.per fie, you must oad your new appication manuay. 2 Perform a system oad in the new appication within the Appication modue and oad the converted 1.8.1 or SE System Load (.asc) fie. For more information, see Converting System Extract and Load Fies on page 105. You shoud examine each error message during the appication oad process. For exampe, an error is dispayed if you have a fixed account ist or fixed name ist that incudes deeted accounts or names. Note: In the FORMULAS section of the oad fie, carefuy ist the methods referenced with the USE function before a other methods in your appication. 3 Import each converted chart and consoidation method (.og fie) into Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000. Note: Any consoidation ogic fie in Hyperion Enterprise 1.8.1 that uses the PVA, VAL, or LOC transation functions shoud be oaded into the Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 appication as a transation method and not as a consoidation method. 4 Check (recompie) each method, if required. 5 Convert reports using the Hyperion Enterprise Reporting Conversion Utiity, then compie them in the converted appication. 6 Import data from your Hyperion Enterprise SE or 1.8.x appication. 7 Import journas from your Hyperion Enterprise SE or 1.8.x appication. If your system does not convert correcty, try to anayze probem areas with your assigned Quaity Engineer or Consutant. Note: Journa information that appears in the Journas history reporting in the origina appication is not retained in the new appication. Converting Logic Fies Before converting ogic fies, consider the foowing information: The ogic fie converter cannot process.og fies that are arger than 64K. To convert a fie arger than 64K, spit the fie into separate fies that are ess than 64K. Convert each fie, then combine each into a singe fie after conversion. 106 Converting Your Appication to Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000
Because this method of conversion requires a reconsoidation of a periods after oading data into the converted appication, the data from the appication might change after conversion if the ogic or any appication attribute has changed. To prevent this, after you convert the ogic fies and oad them into the converted appication, make a methods category-specific. Cacuate formuas for ony the historica periods in which you want data to change. Make sure ony the system administrators have input rights to those categories. Lock the categories in the converted Hyperion Enterprise appication. A comments in.og fies must appear to the right of the statement and must be preceded by an excamation point if you want them to be imported into the converted Hyperion Enterprise appication. In Hyperion Enterprise, the DEF function is repaced by the custom functions feature. If the DEF function was in chart or consoidation ogic in your appication, it is converted to a custom function for either the chart or consoidation method. Consoidation ogic from earier reeases of Hyperion Enterprise are converted into transation methods. If the DEF function uses the LOC, PVA, or VAL functions, which ony work in transation methods, an error message is dispayed when you recompie methods. ä To correct probems recompiing methods with the DEF function: 1 Access the Hyperion Enterprise Formuas modue and open any method. 2 Seect Task > Custom Function. 3 In the Type area, cick ony Consoidation. 4 Cick Transation, then save the function and exit. ä To convert a ogic fie: 1 From the Start menu, seect Programs > Hyperion Soutions > Hyperion Enterprise > Conversion Utiities > Logic Conversion from SE to 6.5.1.1.000. The convert Hyperion Enterprise Standard Edition Logic to Hyperion Enterprise 6.5.1.1.000 Logic diaog box is dispayed: Converting Logic Fies 107
2 Enter the source and destination paths for the ogic fie in the Source Fie and Destination Fie text boxes. You can use the Browse buttons to navigate to the fies. 3 Seect one of the ogic options: To convert a chart ogic fie, seect Chart Logic. To convert a consoidation ogic fie, seect Conso Logic. Note: During conversion, most consoidation ogic fies are converted to transation methods. That is because most fies contain a transation statements, so the conversion utiity assumes that they are transation methods. 4 To cear a custom functions that may have been created if you ran this utiity previousy, seect the Cear Custom Function Fie check box. Note: 5 Cick Convert. The custom function fie, customfn.og, contains a custom function for each DEF function in your ogic fies. Hyperion Enterprise creates this fie in the same directory as the destination fie. If you have not created any DEF functions in your appication, this fie is sti created but does not contain any custom functions. 6 Take one of these actions: To convert another fie, repeat steps 2 through 5. To exit the utiity, cick Exit. Resetting Your Dynamic Account List Criteria Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 contains significant changes regarding the manner in which dynamic account ist criteria operate. You may have to reset your dynamic account ist criteria in order to receive the same resuts in the converted appication since this does not occur during the conversion process. New appications that are buit from scratch wi aso exhibit this new behavior. Hyperion Enterprise Reease 6.5.1.1.000 checks the account ist criteria settings for each of the three possibe eves of accounts major accounts, first eve subaccounts, and second eve subaccounts. In prior reeases, if the criteria did not match at a higher eve, Hyperion Enterprise did not check for a criteria match at the ower account eves. For more information about account ists, see the Hyperion Enterprise User s Guide. Setting Your Point of View in Hyperion Enterprise After you insta Hyperion Enterprise and convert any appications, oad fies, ogic fies, reports, and books from prior reeases, you shoud set your point of view.
