VPN User Guide For Mac System Requirements Operating System: Mac OSX. Internet Browser: Safari (Firefox and Google Chrome are NOT currently supported). Disclaimer Your computer must have the system requirements listed above to use the VPN access software. Help Desk x48889 (909-558-8008) can give suggestions on how to add needed components to your home computer; however, these may impact other applications you currently have installed. Please understand that we cannot be responsible for your home computer. If Help Desk is unable to help you set up the VPN, you may wish to have computer looked at and upgraded by a Mac specialist. Documentation on how to connect is provided, but support beyond that is not.
Setting Up the VPN on a Mac 1. If you do not have the newest version of Java installed, open Safari and navigate to http://www.java.com. Press the Free Java Download button in the middle of the screen. Follow the prompts to install the latest version of Java on your computer. 2. Open Safari and type in the address bar: https://mcvpn.llumc.edu/secureauthmac The following website should come up: 3. Once you are on the Juniper SSL VPN website, you will be prompted for a username. For the username, enter in the same username you use for your email or computer logon (example: jsmith). If you are on a personal Mac, leave the option for This is a private computer selected. This will skip the authentication process for your Mac the next time you try to log in. If it is a public Mac, select the This is a public computer option and you will be prompted to authenticate the next time you log in. 4. The system will then send you a four digit code through either email, text message, or a phone call depending on how your account is set up. The default set up is to send to your email. In that case, we recommend you open a new Safari window or tab to access the email. You will then enter the code on the following screen:
5. At this point, you may be prompted to log in with a username/password. This is the same username/password that you would use to log into your email or your computer logon: 6. Once you are logging in, the Juniper Networks client will attempt to install. You will receive a security pop-up. Make sure to click TRUST: 7. You will then be asked for your Mac computer username/password to install the Java Juniper client: 8. If everything goes well, you should then see the Juniper Networks home page:

If you would like to connect to your PC here at the Medical Center, you will need to scroll down to page 5 and follow the instructions there under the section titled Setting Up Remote Desktop Connection. If you need to set up access to clinical applications, continue with step 10 below. 10. Before using any clinical applications (LLEAP, IMPAX, etc.), you will need to install the Citrix ICA Client. To do this, click the Downloads link on the Juniper home page, and then click the Citrix ICA Client for Mac OS X : 11. You will be prompted to install the Citrix Client. Press NEXT on all the screens that come up. Once installed, you can go back to the Juniper Networks home page. 12. Next, find the Network Connect section at the bottom of the Juniper page and click on the Start button: 13. If you get the following window, you will have to click on the text that says Inactive Plug-in : 14. The Network Connect window will come up and load the software:
15. If the software loads sucessfully, a new window will come up showing statistics on your connection: 16. Next, back on the Juniper page you will want to click on the Citrix nfuse link at the top of the screen: 17. You will be prompted to log in and you can use your Email or computer username/password: 18. Once logged in, you will be able to select your application from the list: 19. To open LLEAP, you can click on the green frog icon: 20. If you would like to open PowerChart, you can still do this from the LLEMR link on the Juniper Bookmark page:
Setting Up Remote Desktop Connection 1. Open Safari and navigate to www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads. In the lower left-hand corner, locate Remote Desktop for Mac and click on Search the download Center : 2. On the next page locate and click on Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac : 3. This will send you to another page where you will be able to download the client. 4. Once the software has been downloaded the compressed file will open. Double click the RDC Installer : 5. Click Continue on the next two screens and then press Agree on the license agreement window. Press Install on the next screen. You will be prompted to enter in your Mac computer password:
6. Once completed, the Remote Desktop icon will be placed in your Dock: 7. You can also launch the Remote Desktop from your Applications folder: 8. Once the application is installed, launch the VPN and log in. Once you reach the Juniper page, locate the Network Connect option at the bottom of the Juniper Bookmarks page. Click on the Start button to the right. 9. Once the Network Connect icon has a Gold/Yellow Lock in the Dock, navigate to the Remote Desktop Connection icon and launch it. 10. A new window will come up and you will need to enter in your workstation name such as MC000000": 11. The connection to your PC should be established. You will then be prompted to log in using your Windows (Email) password.
Troubleshooting FAQ ERROR: If you are seeing this you need to do one of the following This error may be caused by several different things: 1. You have not installed the Citrix ICA client. Refer to step 8 on page 4. 2. You are using an incompatible browser. Refer to the system requirements on page 1. 3. The Citrix ICA client needs to be re-installed. First go to your System folder and then your Preferences folder. Delete the Citrix ICA Client folder and then delete the Citrix client file that you originally downloaded. Once deleted, re-install Citrix by doing step 8 on page 4. ERROR: Random Java Errors. A Java error comes up when trying to open any clinical applications: 1. The Java client needs to be re-installed. Delete the Java folder on your Mac and then go to: http://www.java.com and install the latest version.
