POSITION DESCRIPTION Position: Reports to: EFT: Role Purpose: Internal Relationships: External Relationships: Remuneration: Location Base: Operations & Business Development Director CEO Initial twelve month contract Flexible hours negotiable 1) Business Development and Sustainability Translate promising growth opportunities into practical programs through careful risk analysis, business planning and development to guarantee the future growth and sustainability of the organisation. 2) Translation and Implementation of the Strategic Plan Translate the organisations long-term strategic plan into organisation wide operational plans and individual team workplans. 3) Leadership Provide effective and inspiring leadership across the organisation to enable the CEO to focus on the external policy and funding environment. 4) Immediate Key Projects for Development and Commercialisation a) Employment Program b) 100 at Home Program c) Family Violence in Workplaces d) Court Play Program The Operations & Business Development Director will be required to maintain and build a culture of collaboration through developing strong relationships across the organisation including ISMAPNG, Board and subcommittee members, CEO and direct reports. The Operations & Business Development Director will be required to maintain and build mutually rewarding relationships with key external stakeholders including consultants, contractors and other partners endorsed by the CEO eg local governments, community health services and others Salary to be negotiated, commensurate with experience. Intended Impact Continuity of Care for women and their children We will provide a continuum of care through individualised case management for women who are homeless and for women and their accompanying children who experience family violence. Our integrated response and prevention services will offer crisis care, early intervention, accommodation, education and employment, advocacy and well-being support to enable recovery and empowerment. ROLE COMPETENCIES (key selection criteria) Business Development Operations Self Management Leadership EXPECTATIONS Design, develop and implement effective growth strategies and processes to lead the organisation into the future eg future housing programs such as the Hub model. Develop an effective operating model that can be replicated in other locations as a growth strategy. Liaise with external funders and providers to negotiate agreements/ contracts, and co-ordinate requirements for integration into our business operations. Prepare and submit detailed business cases for new growth opportunities to the CEO. Report accurately and in a timely manner on progress made, opportunities identified and challenges encountered. Oversee contract management in consultation with finance and administrative staff to ensure service delivery agreements are met. Translate the Board approved strategic plan into operational plans for each work team. Implement the Board approved strategic plan by developing annual operational plans in conjunction with the CEO and leadership team. Mentor project management leaders. Liaise with leadership team and team leaders to translate the operational plans into measurable team workplans. Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on the progress of the operational plan implementation. Encourage innovation, co-design and evidence based reasoning in program improvements. Identify and implement effective growth strategies. Review current services and develop new programs as needs emerge based on informed and emerging policy areas eg NDIS, referral services from NEAMI, Cohealth, funding for mental health beds. Report to the CEO and Board on delivery of program KPIs. Adapt leadership style dependent on the context, situation and needs of individual team members. services. Identify opportunities to leverage cross-program strengths to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to address organisational challenges. Lead and coach leaders and managers in developing skills in strategic analysis, operational planning and program implementation. Ensure that all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of McAuley Community Services for Women. Create a work culture that facilitates learning and encourages staff to reach their full potential. Delegate sufficient authority, responsibility and accountability to inspire and enable individuals to contribute effectively. Consult on the development of Key Result Areas and priorities for each Leader to determine Key Performance Indicators. Manage and monitor staff performance and provide regular coaching and supervision to the Leaders. Motivate staff through active involvement across the organisation. Financial Management Risk Management & Compliance Work collaboratively with the finance team to scope cost benefit analysis for business plans and secure adequate funding for implementing operational plans. Write submissions, funding and business proposals to increase the sourcing channels of funds. Negotiate contracts with external contractors. Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the CEO. Provide the CEO and Board with comprehensive, regular reports on the revenue and expenditure of integrated program delivery. Participate actively in identifying, cultivating and seeking donor and business development prospects. Work collaboratively with leaders to Identify and evaluate the risks to the clients, staff, management, volunteers, property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks. Undertake risk assessments and risk management in all business planning, program planning and implementation. Balance responsiveness with robust risk and compliance management. Remain abreast of changes to relevant legislation and assist in managing compliance across the operations of the organisation. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT This position is offered on a qualifying period of 12 months in accordance with the Fair Work Act 2010. This period may be subject to extension of the probation period for up to a further 3 months subject to an agreed work performance plan that encompasses and measures, but is not limited to the following; - To demonstrate a commitment to McAuley Community Services for Women s Code of Conduct and Values. - To demonstrate an ability to meet the expected standards of performance and competencies in relation to the requirement of the position description. Monthly supervision will be required and performance review will take place six months post commencement date. This position description will be regularly updated in accordance with the developing needs of the organisation. Occasional out of hours work may be required. Current Victorian Driver s Licence. National Name Check required. Working with Children s Check. Minimum undergraduate degree in project management, business development, social work or similar advanced degree. Five years senior leadership experience supervising seasoned staff operating human services programs with at minimum of ten years professional work experience.
