Data Analysis Generation of backscatter and filtered image Rectification of raw image Classification of image using thresholding Generation of water layer Extraction of flood inundation layer Extraction of flood inundation statistics Generation of flood inundation map
Exercise Generation of backscatter and filtered image Rectification of raw image Classification of image using threshold technique Generation of water layer Extraction of flood inundation layer Extraction of flood inundation statistics Generation of flood inundation map
Backscatter and Filtering Input Image Imagery_rh.tif Output Image sigma0.img Output Image Sigma0_filt.img
RECTIFICATION
Generation of Water Layer Input Image Sigma0_filt.img Threshold value expression Output Image water.img See backscattering values of flooded areas and write conditional statement in model builder
Masking Mask Layer Input Image water.img Input Image mask.img STATE Boundary PRE-FLOOD WATER BODIES LAND USE Output Image Water_msk.img WATER LAYER WITHOUT MASK WATER LAYER AFTER MASK
Refining of Flood Inundation Layer Open: raster/thematic/clump & then sieve options & give input and output image names Input Image Water_msk.img Output Image clump.img Input Image clump.img Output Image sieve.img CLUMP-a contiguous group of pixels in one class. SIEVE-very small clumps can be filtered out according to their sizes.. Refine the flood inundated layer using clump and sieve
Recoding Input Image sieve.img Output Image recode.img Recode the flood inundation layer to single bit
Conversion: Raster to Vector input Image recode.img Output layer fld1 Convert raster flood layer to vector
Extraction of Flood Layer Using Select Command Input layer:fld1 Output layer:fldf Expression: GridCode=1 Remove universal polygon using select command
Integrating Flood Layer with District Boundary Open:ARCGIS Coverage tools/union & give input and output names Input layer:fldf Input layer:district boundary Output layer:fldist Integrate flood layer with district boundaries
Summarizing Inundated Area District-wise Open:ARCGIS AttributeTable of the fldlayer combined with district (fldist) by right clicking on the layer And go to options and click select by attributes/the define expression gridcode=1 Using query select grid code=1, open attribute table, select district name column & right click select summarize
Summarizing Inundated Area District-wise Open:ARCGIS AttributeTable of the fldlayer combined with district (fldist) by right clicking on the layer And right click over district name/then select summarize/window will open select Area check sum and define ouput table name fldstats.dbf Select Area and sum
Generate flood map Add: flood layer, district boundary, roads, rails, sclae bar and north arrow with a legend
Open:ARCGIS ArcGIS Model Builder RightClick on ArcToolBox/Newtoolbox_Define Model Name (eg:flood) RightClick on Modelname (flood)/new/model/new window will open
ARC GIS MODEL BUILDER Input Process Output Right Click on Toolbox Add model flood.tbx Open Model Drag and drop the processes required and link them

Cyclone HUDHUD October 2014
Cyclone HUDHUD- Track Very severe Cyclonic Storm HUDHUD over west central Bay of Bengal made landfall at Andhra Pradesh coast on 12th October 2014 causing heavy damage to Vishakhapatnam city, including the airport, a number of buildings, electrical & telecommunication supplies and roads copyright NRSC/ISRO
Cyclone HUDHUDHUDHUD- Monitoring copyright NRSC/ISRO Vishakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizainagram & East Godavari were severely affected due to strong gale winds and inundation.

Jammu & Kashmir Floods September 2014
Jammu& Kashmir FloodsFloods- NRSC/ISRO Efforts Severe floods were reported in Jammu & Kashmir during first week of September, 2014. Srinagar Heavy rains coupled with rise in the water levels of Jhelum river had led to flooding in the districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Badgam, Kulgam, Rajouri etc. DSC/ NRSC had mapped and monitored this event (8-23-Sep2014) in near real time using satellite data from RISAT-1, RESOURCESAT-1 & 2, CARTOSAT-1 & 2 and other foreign satellite data. Value added products like flood inundation maps, persistence and recession maps, cumulative flood maps, annotated satellite image maps were generated and disseminated to MHA, NDMA, CWC, IMD and Govt. of J & K. L-150km W-42km E-1500-1800m The information was also uploaded on Bhuvan, NRSC and NDEM web portals.
Jammu& Kashmir FloodsFloods- Monitoring 88-23Sep2014 Rapid mapping monitoring flood & was done on almost daily basis using Indian & satellites. foreign
Jammu& Kashmir Floods- Monitoring 8-23Sep2014 Pampore Flood inundation as on 08-Sep-2014 overlaid on shaded relief map Galandhar Kakapora Awantipora Pulwama 50 Flood inundation maps were disseminated in near real time to MHA, NDMA, Govt. of J&K, National Security Council Secretariat & Defense Services to help in relief and rescue operations. n Panjgam Flood Inundation River/Water Bodies Bijbehara
