International Economics Berlin School of Economics and Law The Masters in International Economics is aimed at students from Germany and other countries who have completed a Bachelor s degree (or an equivalent first university degree) and who wish to continue their studies in an international context. The programme will provide students with a critical under-standing of current debates in economics explicitly including heterodox approaches. It has a strongly international approach and seeks to integrate an understanding of theoretical controversies, historical developments and current policy debates. It also follows an interdisciplinary perspective, reflecting the importance of social and political factors in shaping economic developments. The Masters in International Economics will equip students with the skills to pursue internationally oriented careers with government and non-government organisations as well as with international businesses, international business organisations and trade unions, and also to apply for PhD programmes. The programme is taught entirely in English. Teaching is in seminars in which students have close contact with the teaching staff and in which students are expected to play an active part. The (BSEL) is one of the largest Universities of Applied Sciences in the city. It has an academic staff of about 200 professors and approxi mately 840 lecturers, plus nearly 280 research and admini strative personnel, committed to realising about 50 study programmes. The BSEL portfolio provides a wide range of professional qualifications. The University forms an academic centre specialised in business and administration skills for the public and private sector, as well as public security, the law and engineering. The majority of programmes lead to a Bachelor or Master degree, have been quality controlled and bear the seal of the Accreditation Council. The BSEL offers a pleasant, modern atmosphere that is ideal for studying. The programmes comprise small class courses where each student has a chance to interact with the faculty and their peers. The campus offers well equipped seminar and lecture rooms, an extensive library and several fully equipped computer rooms. With numerous networking activities, excellent corporate contacts and a close relationship with more than 150 partner universities worldwide, we guarantee that student life is enhanced by applied expertise and an international approach. 2 International Economics 3
