2 Chinese-European Economics and Business Studies (CEEBS) Places of Study China s rapid economic development, its integration into the WTO, as well as its significance for the global economy are challenging the development and competitiveness of companies and institutions at national and international level. In an intercultural setting, students will learn to describe major aspects of the economic development in China and Europe and learn to analyse certain aspects of trade relations and financial flows as well as social and economic interrelations between the two regions. Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft (FHW) Berlin/ Berlin School of Economics The Berlin School of Economics is situated in Germany s capital and largest city, Berlin. The FHW Berlin is a University of Applied Sciences and with more than 1,000 graduates one of the largest academic institutions for business, economics and management studies in Germany. Students enrolled in the Master s Course Chinese-European Economics and Business Studies (CEEBS) will find a comparative Chinese-European perspective in the majority of the modules. The curriculum of the Master s Course imparts a multidisciplinary and academic education in Economics and Business studies offering an international and application-oriented approach. In addition to this cross-cultural learning and teaching environment a compulsory semester in China will round up the programme. The staff involved in the Master s course are internationally-renowned academics and senior researchers, with many leading experts in their field of study contributing to wider debate. International academic staff exchange is an essential element of the programme and included in team-teaching. IMB Institute of Management Berlin Founded in 1992, the IMB Institute of Management Berlin is today a well experienced, highly innovative and quality-aware provider of postgraduate programmes. The IMB offers five accredited MBA programmes, three Master programmes (Master of Arts) and one programme leading to a postgraduate certificate. The IMB s core competences lie in the General Management education. In total the IMB enrolls currently more than 270 students almost one third with an international background and has more than 1000 graduates. 3 Important information SWUFE Chengdu The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE Chengdu) is one of the Chinese Ministry of Education s seventy two key universities. With 14,456 students enrolled in Bachelor, Master and PhD programmes the SWUFE Chengdu is also one of the four largest universities for finance and economics in China. According to the latest Netbig ranking (2005) the SWUFE Chengdu is rated 3rd out of 40 universities for finance and economics. Academic Staff The academic staff involved in the Master s course Chinese- European Economics and Business Studies (CEEBS) are internationally experienced. They all have been partners in the EU-funded AsiaLink Project which is the fundament for the Master s programme. A wide range of different thematic focuses is offered in the CEEBS: Finance, Marketing, International Economics as well as Developing and Transformation Economies. All staff is participating in shortterm exchanges between the partner universities and is involved in team-teaching. Academic Environment At both places of study the academic environment is supplemented with intercultural training, career services, multimedia facilities, libraries, research institutions and a Welcome Service which all help to settle in the Master s programme CEEBS in Berlin as well as in Chengdu. In addition the SWUFE Chengdu also offers on-campus accommodation. Applicants with a Bachelor in Social Sciences may be admitted if they can demonstrate a solid academic basis in Economics and Business or if they have acquired sufficient knowledge in these subject areas through practical experience. 4-Years Bachelor (China) or min 180 ECTS credit points Excellent knowledge of English: The level of English proficiency should correspond to a TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 550 points (paper-based) or 213 points (computer-based), IELTS ( overall band score 6.0 or other equivalent certificates.
