NAE Exam he National Automotive echnicians Education oundation (NAE) was founded in 1983 to improve the quality of automotive technician training programs nationwide at secondary and post secondary, public and proprietary schools. Students enrolled in Auto Service echnology I will participate in the NAE Brake pre test to determine students skill levels, which will generate data to drive instruction for the coming year. In ay students will take the NAE post test to measure growth of knowledge and skills learned in Auto Service echnology program. Academic Probation
or students earning lower than a 75% average at the conclusion of the first marking period, written notice will be sent home and a meeting will be scheduled with a student and parent/guardian. An academic improvement contract, including goals and positive supports, will be collaboratively developed and consented to by the student, parent, and instructor. ailure to meet the academic improvement contract criteria may lead to dismissal from the program. Attendance Requirements Students are expected to be in attendance, on time, and prepared for class each day school is in session. Absences diminish a student s access to instruction and may result in poor performance, failure to meet program criteria, and loss of credit. Greater than (9) unexcused absences may result in dismissal from the program. hen a student accrues (3) absences, a letter will be sent home reminding the student and parent/guardian of the school district s attendance policy. his letter will serve as a means of written communication between the district and the student s parent/guardian. After the student is absent (5) days, the student and a parent/guardian will be required to participate in an attendance conference. During the conference, an attendance contract outlining the parameters for student attendance will be created. Non compliance with the attendance contract may result in dismissal from the program. Absences may be excused when a physician s note is provided. It is the responsibility of the student to make up any missed assignments after an absence. Students are expected to complete all make up work before the end of the marking period. If make up work is not completed by the end of the marking period, a grade of incomplete will be assigned until work is completed or due dates expire. Students will attend school each day that orris County School of echnology is open, regardless of home school closings. ARDINESS: (5) cumulative tardies is equal to (1) absence. A students are required to be in class by 8:00 A; P students are required to be in class by 12:09 P. Excessive tardiness may result in disciplinary action. Uniform Requirements Students must be dressed in complete uniform every day. he Auto Service echnology uniform includes: (3) blue, shorts or long sleeve uniform shirts (3) blue tee shirts (3) pairs of blue uniform pants (1) quilt lined work jacket (1) pair of brown or black leather work boots Uniforms must be washed regularly. Students should be professionally groomed at all times. Sneakers, canvas, or cloth shoes are not acceptable. Bandannas, jeans, sweatshirts, sweaters, hooded sweatshirts, etc. are not acceptable. Students will not be permitted to participate in shop activities, if the uniform requirements are not met, and an alternate classroom assignment will be designated. A second violation of the uniform policy will result in referral the administrat for discipline and a phone conference with parent/guardian.
Uniforms are available through CVS and American ear in the second week of school. Until uniforms are ordered and received, students are expected to wear plain blue or black tee shirts (no designs), jeans, and work boots. he Auto service echnology Program provides safety glasses to all students. GRADING CRIERIA Auto Service echnology I and Auto Service echnology II he following percentages will be assigned to the final grade earned. RULES AND REGULAIONS he following list of rules has been developed to provide a safe and productive learning environment. It is important tha students clearly understand these expectations. 1. Each student is expected to report to class promptly. 2. Once students start working in the shop, they are expected to report directly to the locker room to change into their uniform upon arrival. Students should be change and ready to begin class by the second bell. 3. allets, keys, and personal items are to be locked in assigned lockers. 4. Cell phones and other personal electronic equipment is to be stored in the locked steel cabinet in the classroom. Power strips are setup for charging equipment. Cell phones and other electronic equipment may be retrieved at the end of class. Cell phones and other electronic equipment found in a students possession during class or shop time will be confiscated and returned after class. Repeated offensives may result in referral to r. orino, Dean of Discipline. 5. Safety glasses or goggles must be worn in the shop/lab at all times. ailure to comply will result in removal from the shop/lab area and an alternate classroom activity. 6. Student s will be assigned, work groups and a tool cart to be used by the group for the entire year: a. Each group will be responsible for the proper organization and cleanliness of their tool cart. b. Each group is responsible for checking that no tools from their assigned cart are missing. c. No group will be dismissed to the locker room until the above (a and b) are completed and the shop areas are straightened out and floors broom swept. d. At the end of the class period, students will change in the locker room (female students will be assigned to an appropriate changing location) and sit in their assigned classroom desks to review the days work, retrieve cell phones and other electronic equipment, and be dismissed when the bell rings. 7. Student Uniform s _ $163.00 _ (Check payable to: American ear) his uniform kit includes everything a Auto Service echnology student will need to start with: hree shirts long/short, three work pants, three tee shirts, and one jacket. Names and American flags are included in the price of the uniforms. Note: he student only receives uniforms at the beginning of the year.
